Abstract:
The paper refers rove beetles (Staphylinidae) from caves of the Częstochowa Upland (Poland). Currently, altogether 44 species are known from this area, three of them are eutroglophiles and nine subtroglophiles, others are considered as trogloxenes. The most common species is Quedius mesomelinus mesomelinus.

This paper presents the study’s results on beetles (Insecta: Coleoptera) inhabiting caves in the Częstochowa Upland, southern Poland. During two years of research, 2084 specimens, representing 105 species from 19 beetle families, were collected. The obtained results indicate that many beetle species choose to inhabit caves despite lacking specific adaptations for living in such environments. The cave entrance zone is the most attractive place for surface species to inhabit because its climatic conditions are more stable than outside the cave, some sunlight is present, and the availability of o

Abstract:
This paper describes research into species of beetles (Coleoptera), which was carried out in one of the largest systems of old mine workings in Europe (Podziemia Tarnogórsko-Bytomskie) near Tarnowskie Góry and Bytom. A one-year survey yielded three species of beetles: Choleva glauca, Pterostichus niger and Quedius mesomelinus. Each species occurred only at particular times of the year, possibly signifying the beginning of the troglobiont way of life.

Abstract:
AbstractTrophic interactions of cave arthropods have been understudied. We used molecular methods (NGS) to decipher the food web in the subterranean ecosystem of the Ardovská Cave (Western Carpathians, Slovakia). We collected five arthropod predators of the species Parasitus loricatus (gamasid mites), Eukoenenia spelaea (palpigrades), Quedius mesomelinus (beetles), and Porrhomma profundum and Centromerus cavernarum (both spiders) and prey belonging to several orders. Various arthropod orders were exploited as prey, and trophic interactions differed among the predators. Linear models were used
