Abstract:
The management of patients in healthcare facilities, such as outpatient clinics and hospital emergency departments, is a significant hospital management problem. In an effort to deal with the volume of patients who visit an emergency department, hospitals often haphazardly add more resources to their emergency department, such as hiring more personnel or adding more treatment rooms, without proper analysis of the impact of the additional resources on the system. These solutions can be quite expensive and yet their effect on improving problems in the system is often negligible. Knowledge management can make these challenges tractable and lead to more effective solutions. For example, through the application of an automated patient management system that collects and utilizes information concerning the status of patients, the flow of patients can be better managed. Hospitals can effectively deal with many of the problems associated with scheduling and overcrowding, and improve the quality of care provided by their institution. To accurately capture and provide access to the volume of precise information required to effectively manage a healthcare facility, an extensive information acquisition system must be created. The information collected can then be used for both real-time and long-term management decisions. These ideas are discussed and elaborated upon in this chapter.

Abstract:
Emergency events are always very critical to manage as in most cases there is a human life risk. Such events could become even more serious when occurring in remote areas not equipped with adequate healthcare facilities, able to manage life risk. This is the case in many rural geographical areas. In such scenarios telemedicine can play a very important and determinant role. This is mainly the basis of the experience described in the following chapter about telemedicine application in a small hospital located in the town of Branca, near Gubbio Italy. The first aid department, responsible for emergency support in a territory where distances between houses and hospital is quite important and the lack of healthcare structures and speedways connections makes it even more difficult, has decided to use telemedicine solutions to face the emergency events. The experience has shown how the use of Videocommunication based telemedicine systems has improved the service and what procedural impact the adoption of such technology has required. A brief description of the experience and highlights of the service still under experimentation will be shown in the following.

Abstract:
The increasing number of problems that need to be addressed in the hospital sector calls for innovation in this field. It brings us the need to find cost-effective and memory-efficient solutions to handle the vast data and sector it into essential information to operate on the patient. There used to be many systems to manage clinical records which are fixed at a place. It is quite complicated to get the information and make this data available at a patient's bedside. This leads to a considerable amount of wasted time in moving to those storage PCs and also the cost afforded is comparatively high. A computer system that controls and accomplishes all the data in the hospital database to provide effective healthcare is called hospital information system (HIS). The introduction of HIS made billing and inventor easier for the staff. This paper discusses diverse methods that improve the cost, demands of HIS, and provide techniques to function efficiently using wireless networks. Also, the paper gives a comparative study on different aspects such as cost, quality of service, transportation, and security. A new system is proposed by combining the wireless healthcare system along prioritized alert notification.

Abstract:
This study aims to discuss the evolution, principles, and stages of total quality management (TQM) in public health care organizations. It also makes a comparison that how case organizations think about quality and TQM along with its applicability within public sector. The study can be categorized as qualitative research. The data is collected from semi structural interviews of the informants and the concerning documents, which consist of strategy, policy papers and audit reports of the case organizations. Altogether there are two case organizations. Furthermore, data is analyzed with the help of content analysis. Most vital issues in TQM practices are its comprehensiveness, and its application in such a way which is appropriate for the organization, with a logical way of operation and the participation of management and personnel. Training, guidance, teamwork, involvement and learning are imperative for achieving a continuous improvement culture and are vital elements when adopting TQM. Managers should learn from the experience of TQM implementers by studying expected challenges and pitfalls. They should also pay more attention to the crucial role of all stakeholders in the TQM implementation. The study could be quite valuable from a strategic perspective in providing guidelines to build up a proper plan for TQM practices more promptly. The paper also manages to shed light on TQM practices of public service organizations by comparing their current approaches to quality.

Abstract:
This chapter examines religion and health care in Mozambique. The two basic questions are (1) “How does religion factor into the Social Determinants of Health?”; and (2) “What is its connection to outcomes?” The political, economic, health, and religious contexts of Mozambique are reviewed. The country is challenged by persistent poverty and underdevelopment. Mozambique had a Marxist government that suppressed religion. Religion nonetheless influences health care quite significantly in contemporary Mozambique. Christian and Muslim Faith-Based Organizations play an important role in fighting HIV/AIDS and the provision of health care in general. Pentecostalism is rising and plays a controversial role in its engagement with modern medicine. People often seek traditional health care and even combine such visits with more Western-style treatments from health centers and hospitals.

ABSTRACT Background: Hospital occupational health and safety is all activities to ensure and protect the safety and health of hospital human resources, patients, patient companions, visitors, and the hospital environment through efforts to prevent occupational accident and occupational disease in the hospital. It is necessary to support resources, organization, and policies in the implementation of occupational safety and health in hospitals in order to create a safe, secure and comfortable hospital condition. Abstract:
Recently, deep learning has witnessed dramatic progress in the medical image analysis field. In the precise treatment of cancer immunotherapy, the quantitative analysis of PD-L1 immunohistochemistry is of great importance. It is quite common that pathologists manually quantify the cell nuclei. This process is very time-consuming and error-prone. In this paper, we describe the development of a platform for PD-L1 pathological image quantitative analysis using deep learning approaches. As point-level annotations can provide a rough estimate of the object locations and classifications, this platfo

The aim of this paper is to perform segmentation of white blood cells (WBCs) using blood smear images with the help of image processing techniques. Traditionally, the process of morphological analysis of cells is performed by a medical expert. This process is quite tedious and time consuming. The equipments used to perform the experiments are very costly and might not be available in all hospitals. Further, the whole process is quite lengthy and prone to error easily because of the lack of standard set of procedure. Hence there is a need for innovative and efficient techniques. An automated im

Out of the genital tract malignancies, carcinoma cervix is so far found to be the commonest followed by ovary and endometrium. In developed countries, carcinoma cervix incidence is comparatively quite low due to good regular screening of females. One year review of patients was done, who underwent definitive/debulking surgery for a diagnosed malignant pathology of the genital tract, in obstetrics and gynaecology department of Govt medical College and Hospital, Chandigarh. The possibility of integrating biomass gasifiers with fuel cells has already been explored and shown to offer a method for using renewable energy to generate electricity at a small scale. A preliminary study of applying such a system for use in an isolated community and for several selected buildings has been made and the results of these studies reported earlier. In this study wood gasification integrated with fuel cell (WGIFC) systems in CHP configurations for five building systems with different energy demand profiles, are assessed.
