Abstract:
Students in an introductory psychology course took a quiz a week over each textbook chapter, followed by a cumulative final exam. Students missing a quiz in class could make up a quiz at any time during the semester, and answers to quiz items were available to students prior to the cumulative final exam. The cumulative final exam consisted of half the items previously presented on quizzes; half of those items had the response options scrambled. The performance on similar items on the cumulative final was slightly higher than on the original quiz, and scrambling the response options had little effect. Students strongly supported the quiz a week approach.

Abstract:
OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to assess children's comprehension of a new assent booklet, (KidSent), which uses pictures and written information. STUDY DESIGN A randomized, crossover study evaluated the comprehension of assent documents by children, 7 to 11 years of age at a local elementary school. The two types of documents tested were the standard assent form and the KidSent Assent Booklet. Participants were randomized as to which test document they received first by using a cluster randomization design. Participants read the document and then took a short quiz. The process was repeated for the other document on a separate day. Study participants were assigned a percentage score and a binary perfect score for each quiz. Mixed effects logistic and linear regression models with random intercepts were applied to the continuous percent quiz scores and binary perfect quiz scores, respectively. RESULTS A total of 190 participants completed the standard quiz, and 195 students completed the booklet quiz. A statistically significant difference in perfect quiz scores (p=0.004) and percent quiz scores (p≤0.001) between booklet and standard form was noted. CONCLUSIONS The quiz scores may indicate that the style of document is not the only factor influencing participant understanding.

Abstract:
Motivation to learn is very complicated to be examined because it involves various aspects, including the psychology of learners. However, efforts to improve the motivation of learners is not impossible for every teacher. As one of these efforts, the researcher undertook a comparative study by examining the achievement of bunpou understanding in the class that used the quiz tests and did not use the quiz test. After that, we compared with the average of semester final exam grade of the two classes. The quiz tests were formatively conducted after mid term exam until semester final exam. The result of a class that uses a quiz test has a higher average grade than a class that does not use. The mid term exam is difficult than final exam, it causes the average of the grade of student went down. However, the class that does not use the quiz test has drop two fold than the class that used the quiz test. It can be assumed that the quiz test is one of the media that has a role to increase the extrinsic motivation of the basic learner in understanding bunpou. Keywords: learning motivation, quiz tests, roles, bunpou

Abstract:
Examinations and quizzes should be used as learning as well as assessment tools. To achieve this goal, an assessment procedure was developed to enhance as well as assess student learning. Students were tested on four different topics of cardiovascular physiology. Each topic was tested by a different type of quiz (fill in the blanks, single best response multiple choice, short essay, or true/false). The students first completed a quiz individually. Once the quiz was completed individually, the students completed the same quiz in groups. Eighty percent of the score on the quiz was based on the individual results, and 20% of the score on the quiz was based on the group results. The performance on the quizzes was significantly higher ( P < 0.001) when students completed the quizzes in groups than when they completed the quizzes individually. Results document that completing the quizzes in groups enhances the understanding of the material. In addition, students rated this format superior to the traditional method.

Abstract:

We propose that a brief take-home syllabus quiz can be a catalyst for students to read and refer to their syllabus as a source of essential information about the class. In this article, we detail the development of such a quiz and provide evidence that students who complete a syllabus quiz have a better understanding of course policies than students who do not. A syllabus quiz may be especially valuable in introductory level courses, enhancing students' acclimation to the expectations of the instructor, the department, and the institution.

Abstract:
Abstract Background Effective treatment regimens for elderly FLT3/ITD+ AML patients are lacking. Recent data on the effects of the FLT3 tyrosine kinase inhibitor quizartinib (QUIZ) on FLT3/ITD+ AML showed promising clinical activity, including in elderly patients. Hypomethylating agents (DNMTis), such as Decitabine (DEC) and 5-azacytidine (AZA), demonstrated clinical benefit in AML and are well tolerated in elderly patients, and are associated with minimal increases in FLT3 ligand, which can represent a potential resistance mechanism to FLT3 inhibitors. In addition, both FLT3 inhibition and hypomethylation therapy are associated with the induction of terminal differentiation of myeloid blasts. Therefore, there is a strong theoretical rationale for combining FLT3 inhibition and hypomethylation for FLT3/ITD AML, particularly in the elderly. Here, we investigated whether the combination of DEC or AZA with QUIZ bears synergistic anti-leukemic potential, and if the sequence of administration was important. Methods Molm14 (M14) and primary cells from elderly, newly diagnosed (ND) and relapsed (REL) FLT3/ITD+ AML patients were incubated in culture medium. QUIZ, DEC or AZA were added either as single agents or in combination (simultaneous vs. sequential administration) at the indicated concentrations, in the presence (M14 and primary cells) and absence of stroma (M14). After 48 to 72 hours, cells were assessed for proliferation and apoptosis using MTT assays, annexin-V staining and FACS analysis. A combination index (CI) was calculated using Calcusyn Software. Results We found that the presence of stromal cells significantly blunted the cytotoxic effects of each compound, both when administered as single agent and in combination. In M14, CI values indicated that combined treatment resulted in synergistic effects that were more pronounced in the presence as compared to the absence of stroma (CIstroma: 0.16 [QUIZ 1nM+DEC 1μM] and 0.2 [QUIZ 1nM+AZA 1μM]; CIno stroma: 0.43 [QUIZ 1nM+DEC 1μM] and 0.87 [QUIZ 20nM+AZA 1μM]). Furthermore, a trend towards greater growth inhibition was observed when the drugs were administered simultaneously rather than in a sequential mode. While the pro-apoptotic effects of DEC were less marked, combined treatment (QUIZ +DEC or AZA) did not further induce apoptosis as compared to QUIZ alone. In primary FLT3/ITD+ AML cells, single agent QUIZ, DEC and AZA demonstrated dose dependent, growth inhibitory effects. While AZA was significantly more potent than DEC in ND (n=3) and REL (n=3) cells, REL cells were generally more drug sensitive (ND: 48.7±10.6% [4μM AZA] vs. 6.0±7.9% [4μM DEC]; REL: 71.3±2.7% [4μM AZA] vs. 5.5±3.1% [4μM DEC]; p<.005). Consistent with greater FLT3-addiction, QUIZ was significantly more potent in REL than in ND cells (5nM: 13.5±4.9% [ND] vs. 28.5±5.0% [REL], p<.05; 10nM: 21.8±4.0% [ND] vs. 41.5±4.8% [REL], and 20nM: 24.9±3.0% [ND] vs. 49.2±6.5% [REL]; p<.005). Combined treatment with QUIZ and AZA resulted in significant, additive to synergistic growth inhibition compared to QUIZ alone in ND and REL cells. QUIZ and DEC demonstrated synergistic growth inhibition only in REL (46.0±6.8% [20nM AC], 15.5±3.1% [DEC 4μM], 55.5±6.3% [QUIZ 20nM+ DEC 1uM], CI=0.68) but not in ND cells. The combination of QUIZ/AZA induced a modest degree of apoptosis in both ND and REL primary cells, whereas DEC with or without QUIZ did not induce any meaningful degree of apoptosis. Conclusions 1. Not surprisingly, stroma blunted the cytotoxic effect of all treatments 2. On stroma, 5-azacytidine was considerably more cytotoxic than decitabine, at least from the standpoint of inducing growth inhibition or apoptosis. 3. There was synergistic cytotoxicity in blasts on stroma with quizartinib/5-azacytidine, less so with quizartinib/decitabine. 4. Simultaneous administration was more effective than sequential. 5. We are currently studying the efficacy of these combinations at inducing terminal myeloid differentiation in these FLT3/ITD AML samples. 6. The combination of a hypomethylating agent and FLT3 inhibition is a potentially important new therapeutic regimen for FLT3/ITD AML, particularly for older patients. A current Phase 1 trial with the combination of AZA and QUIZ in newly diagnosed and relapsed patients is currently being explored. Disclosures: Levis: Ambit Biosciences: Consultancy.

Abstract:
The COVID-19 pandemic required the rapid conversion of medical school curricula to virtual instruction. Prior to the crisis, histopathology teaching laboratories at UT Health San Antonio included completion of an Individual Laboratory Quiz before the laboratory session, a Team Application Exercise released and completed during the laboratory session with guidance from faculty, and a graded Team Laboratory Quiz at the end of the laboratory session. Adaptation of this interactive, in-person activity to a fully online platform included releasing the Team Application Exercise earlier to provide ample time for students to work virtually with their teams, conducting laboratory sessions using Microsoft Teams, with 5 to 6 teams led by a single instructor, and requiring the Team Laboratory Quiz to be taken individually for ensuring quiz security and test integrity. For incentivizing collaboration while completing the Team Application Exercise, the final score was either the student’s individual score on the Team Laboratory Quiz or their team’s average, whichever was higher. Comparison of student scores on the modified Team Laboratory Quiz to Team Laboratory Quiz scores using the earlier laboratory format prior to COVID-19 showed a significant decline; however, scores on other weekly quizzes or examinations were unaffected. Students welcomed the early release of Team Application Exercise and easier access to faculty but indicated that the modified Team Laboratory Quiz decreased peer-teaching and learning experience and increased anxiety. Faculty indicated the loss of personal interaction with students as a major theme. These data suggest that novel pedagogical approaches are required for online histopathology instruction to accommodate differences in learning styles while maintaining the benefits of team collaboration.

Abstract:
The current technological development of science and knowledge can easily be provided through various media. Learning media have become part of the learning and teaching process. In its use these media can be anything such as videos, motion animations, power points, including games. Educational games can be used as learning media in schools so that learning activities can be more interesting and enjoyable. Games made as learning media are certainly not merely entertainment but must contain elements and educational values. The purpose of this research is to make an educational game of natural science where the questions / questions in the quiz section can be scrambled by themselves. The design of the construction of this environmental quiz game uses the method of Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) and Fisher Yates Shuffle algorithm for randomization of questions. This environmental game contains natural science lessons about the organization of life systems, the interaction of living things with the environment and environmental pollution. Components in this game are in the form of material and quiz games, puzzles and drag and drop. In this study there are 10 questions that will be randomized to each quiz. The result of the implementation of the Fisher Yates Shuffle algorithm in this quiz section is that the quiz questions that come out can be scrambled, so the questions / questions that come out are different and the user does not easily guess the next question. Keywords: Quiz Game, Adobe Flash, Actionscript, Fisher Yates Shuffle

Abstract:
The article presents the results of a theoretical analysis of the literature, which showed the presence of a significant number of gender biases in scientific research of the last century. Modern research, on the contrary, shows a tendency to rethink established gender stereotypes and move away from neurosexism. The desire of modern scientists to create science beyond gender stereotypes is growing. It is emphasized that in Ukraine, there is a tradition of research on gender issues. It is noted that today there is an insufficient number of psychodiagnostic tools in the Ukrainian language, which can be used to study the gender beliefs of an individual. The article aims to present the adaptation of the English-language questionnaire “Gender Bias Quiz” into Ukrainian. Research methods are: system-structural analysis, generalization of scientific literature data to the requirements of adapting the psychodiagnostic tool and evaluating its reliability, methods of mathematical statistics (Cronbach’s Alpha criterion and Pearson correlation coefficient). The reliability assessment of the “Gender Bias Quiz” questionnaire included an assessment of internal consistency and retest reliability. The procedure for adapting the psychodiagnostic tool met the necessary criteria: sufficient sample size for this type of questionnaire (n=52), representativeness of the sample (adolescence students), the required time interval between the first testing and the second one (1 month). The sample consisted of 52 students aged 17 to 24 years (M=21, SD=1.71). The results of checking the questionnaire`s reliability based on the internal consistency indicator using Cronbach's α showed its sufficient level (α=0.87).Retest reliability was checked by calculating the correlation coefficient between the results of the first test (M=39.83; SD=10.2) and the repeated test (M=39.29; SD=11.9). The correlation analysis performed showed a significant level of correlation (r=0.89 at p≤0.001), which indicates fairly high retest reliability of the psychodiagnostic tool. For the correct use of this questionnaire, some limitations were outlined: 1) the adaptation of the methodology took place on students, so it can be used in the study of gender attitudes of youth personality; application on representatives of other age categories requires an additional adaptation procedure; 2) this questionnaire does not belong to standardized psychological methods but is actually a questionnaire that studies the respondent's opinion on the gender issue; therefore, the definition of statistical norms based on the results obtained from this questionnaire is not correct in this case. It should be noted that the application of this questionnaire has significant potential in cross-cultural comparisons of gender biases of representatives of different countries and regions. The results of the questionnaire adaptation procedure showed a sufficient level of reliability of the questionnaire and confirmed the possibility of using it as a psychodiagnostic tool for studying the gender attitudes of a young person. We see the prospect of further research in expanding the boundaries of using the questionnaire: adaptation to other age categories of respondents.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT Introductory accounting classes are predominately composed of freshman and sophomore nonaccounting majors, who may not be as motivated as upper-level accounting majors. As a result, instructors of introductory accounting courses are challenged in finding effective strategies to motivate these students to: (1) prepare for class, (2) arrive to class on time, and (3) participate in meaningful class discussions and activities. To address these issues, we give a short daily quiz at the beginning of each class. The quiz consists of three easy-to-grade conceptual questions that students should be able to answer, provided that they have read the assigned textbook pages. Empirical evidence suggests that the daily quiz has the desired motivational effect on student behavior with respect to preparation, punctual attendance, and participation. In addition, lower failure rates occurred in semesters that incorporated a daily quiz. Finally, use of the daily quiz had no adverse effect on course and instructor evaluations.

Abstract:
The theory of logical gates in quantum computation has suggested new forms of quantum logic, called quantum computational logics. The basic semantic idea is the following: the meaning of a sentence is identified with a quregister (a system of qubits) or, more generally, with a mixture of quregisters (called qumix). In this framework, any sentence α of the language gives rise to a quantum tree: a kind of quantum circuit that transforms the quregister (qumix) associated to the atomic subformulas of α into the quregister (qumix) associated to α. A variant of the quantum computational semantics is represented by the quantum holistic semantics, which permits us to represent entangled meanings. Physical models of quantum computational logics can be built by means of Mach–Zehnder interferometers.
