Full textIn this article, we analyze the positive and negative comments displayed on the digital platform YouTube as a result of the debate on the Law on the Preservation, Use and Dissemination of Languages: discussion between Peruvian congresswomen Martha Hildebrandt and María Sumire, which took place on September 6, 2007. Through the Critical Discourse Analysis (Fairclough, 1995, Van Dijk, 1999, Wodak and Meyer, 2003), we study how commentators generate discourses of discrimination and racism when using linguistic strategies. The discourses are divided into two groups: one in favor and in defense of Martha Hildebrandt's action and the other against the same character, but in defense of the opposite party: Maria Sumire. Based on this, it is demonstrated how through the comments made virtually, hierarchical relations are reproduced and excluding social practices are legitimized in relation to both congressmen, who represent different social images.

Full textThis research project examines the term “amixer” as a discursive practice, and more broadly how practices and discourses are built and spread in virtual social networks, specifically on Facebook. It is, therefore, a look at the social network as an area of debate or cultural meeting; a virtual scenario of multiple-way symbolic exchange, in which diverse social factors take place to negotiate, resist and agree on their encounters with Others, with the main objective of placing, defining and distinguishing themselves, in order to symbolically maintain their social barriers. On that sense, the illusion of social networks as open, free and democratic spaces, widely spread by the massive media, becomes more complex. Focusing on the Peruvian use of Facebook, I argue that social networks have produced imaginary social processes of privatization of virtual spaces. The debates and the negotiation of collective consensus that took place on this technological platform around a new discursive subject (the ‘amixer’), intended its identification, categorization, definition and stereotypification with the sole objective of naming and situating it, in an attempt to stop its social mobility and keep current symbolic borders. Symbolic borders become blurrier and more unstable in contemporary Peru, where the strong social, economic, technological and geographic changes that took place since the late twentieth century gave place to the out coming of a new and broad middle and emerging class. As part of those processes, new traits of social status were defined and agreed on; a typology was configured; and memory and everydayness, irony, insult, parody, taste and jokes were used, as was the old and so Peruvian habit of classifying as “cholo”, in order to define subjects and their positions with intrinsic categories of an old racial discourse.

Full textThe fundamental purpose of this study is to fully translate the Bedside language battery to Southern Quechua, for its application on Quechua-speaking aphasic patients. The goal of this document is to achieve aphasia detection in Quechuaspeakers with brain injuries. This battery evaluates five fields, whichwere adapted in order to achieve a correct translation, which was carried out by profesional, government-authorized translators. In order to verify the fidelity of this translation, the test was given to a total of 372 Quechua-speakers. Afterwards, we tested four Quechua-speaking aphasic patients, obtaining the same results as their previous diagnostics. The results prove that the test is intelligible in its entirety, since none of the translated fields were scrutinized by the judges. Therefore, we make this instrument available for its application on Quechua-speaking aphasic patients.

Full textThis following study is quantitative which generally aims to identify characteristics of verbal expression in preschool children of the Callao Region and its main objective is to identify characteristics according to sex, age and according to the type of educational management. The sample consisted of 107 students from educational institutions both state and private Callao Region, divided into ages of 4 and 5 years taking into account gender and type of institution. The instrument used was the Child Verbal Expression Test - LVET Gonzales (2008) for the purpose of describing the Verbal Expression of preschoolers. Upon completion of the investigation, it was found that the sex variable had no differences because the children were in the same level of oral expression without showing a peculiarity or distinction mainly because sex is not a major factor that determines the characteristics thereof. In the age variable, differences were found because these are determined by the stages of acquisition of oral language development according to age. The type of educational management is desirable to take into account differences between one another, private and public, because those running these institutions are part of these distinctions as are those who supervise, monitor and train the teaching staff. The results indicate that it is reliable LVET as it is shown in Cronbach's alpha of 0.82, just as there is discriminative capability of its items.

Full textThe specific objective of this research is to analyze the visual language used in political memes during the 2019 political crisis in Peru. The hypothesis is that the visual language used in these memes is based on denotative and connotative perceptive characteristics that facilitate their understanding accompanied by a uniform visual tour. Firstly, a content analysis of the visual tour and the rhetorical elements was carried out based on the syntactic and semantic figures of seven political memes, previously filtered in a documentary file, in which the main characteristics that a meme in this field must have were stipulated, such as being directed at a political power, presenting criticism or support and having a humorous content. An interview was also held with a key informant, who has knowledge of visual rhetoric and experience in generating pieces of humor in which he gives his opinion on political memes. Among the main results, it is obtained that all political memes have accentuated rhetorical figures and typographical figures to be understood and that they use the substitute figures to combine fictional characters with politicians. Thus, it can be stated that memes have characteristics based on visual syntactic (denotation) and semantic (connotation) rhetorical figures. Finally, it can be stated that there is a uniform visual path which is carried out in a vertical manner allowing for easy reading.

The objective is to get a speech fluency profile in 7 years old Peruvian Spanish fluent speaker’s children. It`s a simple descriptive study of nonexperimental type, with a descriptive transactional design. 40 fluent children participate from 7:0 to 7:11 years old, divided into 2 groups of equal amount. The spontaneous speech samples of these children are analyzed according to the Speech Fluency Assessment Protocol (Andrade, 2006). The results show that fluent speaking children have a minimum of stuttering disfluencias in their speech. The speech fluency varies in each one, influenced by extrinsic and intrinsic aspects. The most common disfluencies recorded are hesitations and revisions. No recorded unfinished works. Within the stuttering disfluencies are recorded a greater number of pauses, but no sound and block repetitions are presented. In terms of speech rate, the average of words for minute is 98,5 and the average of syllables for minute is 174,6.According to the disruptions frequency, the average percentage of speech discontinuity is 7,4 and that of stuttering disfluencies is 0,5 in a sample of 200 syllables. Full textThe norms that prohibit racism among undergraduate students in the PUCP, the UPCH, the UNMSM and the UNALM are ineffective; that is, they are not applied by the competent authorities to specific cases, due to reasons of a legal nature, such as the deficient regulation of the university norms that prohibit racism, legal partner, such as lack of dissemination and lack of interest in knowing the norms that prohibit racism, as well as the confusion about the competent authorities to prosecute and punish offenders, and sociological, such as the recurrence of racism as a social construction, massive phenomenon, defined in its direction and complex, as well as naturalization and denial, and verbal aggressions considered as racist jokes by the perpetrators, witnesses and / or victims. Therefore, the following is proposed: 1) a legal proposal consisting of the modification and inclusion of articles on discrimination; 2) socio-legal measures consisting of the inclusion of an article that calls on the university authorities to publicize the rules that prohibit racism among students, and 3) the realization of a campaign to counteract racism, its characteristics, phenomena and most recent modality.

Full textIn Peru there are studies related to Simplification Phonological Processes (PSF) in children of preschool and primary level educated institutions, however no studies were found on non-school mode like PRONOEIs. Therefore, the object of study was to determine the performance levels in Simplification Phonological Processes (PSF) that characterizes children of 3-5 years without language difficulties whom are attending the UGELs PRONOEI 06 located in the metropolitan area in Lima, Peru. The sample consisted of 300 children and the Teprosif-R Test Adapted Simplification was utilized to determine the Phonological Processes. The research method used in this investigation is descriptive comparative and the design is not experimental. The results indicate that globally there are not significant differences among children in Lima and regulations of PRONOEI; however, at 3 and 4 years children from Lima regulations PSF perform more PSF than children attending PRONOEI. Likewise, the most widely used process for children 3, 4 and 5 years from PRONOEI are structure wise. On the other hand, at 5 years old the children attending PRONOEIs maintained many substitution processes; this age group is placed as a risk group. This could be well explained by socioeconomic factors and lack of teaching strategies designed to work in the areas of phonological awareness.
