The concept of radar was developed for the estimation of the distance (range) and velocity of a target from a receiver. The distance measurement is obtained by measuring the time taken for the transmitted signal to propagate to the target and return to the receiver. This study evaluates noise robustness of convolutional autoencoders and neural networks for classification of Low Probability of Intercept (LPI) radar modulation type. Specifically, a number of different neural network architectures are tested in four different synthetic noise environments. Tests in Gaussian noise show that performance is decreasing with decreasing Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR).
