In this paper we present the first results of our research regarding microwave biosensors for non-invasive permittivity monitoring of the human body. To detect permittivity changes, resonators are used, which alter their resonance frequency and their quality factor depending on the permittivity of the material they are placed upon. These permittivity changes may be used as indicators for the heart rate, blood pressure or glucose level. As a proof of concept, this paper focusses on designing resonators to detect the heart beat of humans in the Radial Artery, which is located in the forearm.

Abstract:
This paper documents two related investigations. The first investigation was to benchmark commercial CFD code Fluent in rotating cavities for velocity profiles and beat transfer coefficients. The second investigation was to evaluate the methods of extracting heat transfer coefficients from CFD solution with direct method and Reynolds analogy approach. This paper presents an investigation of the dimension variations on modular magnetorheological (MR) valve with meandering flow path structure. The size variations including the inner and outer radius of the valve at radial path. The first step is conducting FEMM (Finite Element Method Magnetics) to find out the density of magnetic flux on MR valve. The obtained magnetic field density is applied to steady state models to predict pressure drop. This study examines the energy efficiency and environmental performance of Mexico’s manufacturing sector across regions. We employ a Data Envelopment Analysis model that optimizes the weighted output-input ratio for each decision-making unit. Specifically, a non-radial directional distance function model is used to account for both desirable outputs and undesirable outputs, represented by greenhouse gas emissions.
