Abstract:
Campus journalism is a place for students to develop their potential in the journalism field. Students who are agents of change not only provide quality news but also provide moral value in the news production process. Quality news can be raised through the role of a journalist in writing news (information). Prophetic journalism is a journalistic concept taken from the nature of the prophets. In this paper, we examine the application of the concept of prophetic journalism –journalism that imitates the prophetic characteristics of the Prophet Muhammad– among campus journalists. Prophet Muhammad is known for his four characteristics: siddiq (delivering accurate information), amanah (trustworthy as a source of information), tabligh (delivering information in its entirety), fathanah (a journalist is required to be smart in revealing the truth of the news). The data from this study is the result of observations from the daily life of the researcher when carrying out the news production process with other campus journalists ranging from electronic media (radio & television), print, and online. The results of this study indicate that campus journalists at UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya apply prophetic journalism well. By implementing the prophetic characteristics of the Prophet Muhammad when carrying out journalistic activities, journalists can maintain the professionalism of journalists. By using ethnographic research methods or commonly referred to as field research, researchers make observations as the main data and are equipped with in-depth interviews with several campus journalists. We also propose the nature of Prophet Ibrahim to be incorporated into the concept of prophetic journalism as well. Prophet Ibrahim is known for the story of his courage to seek the truth and reveal it when everyone was against it. This courage is important in supporting journalistic activities among students and professionals.

Abstract:
The paper deals with the view that a journalist as a linguistic and cultural type is a recognizable representative of a certain group of people, whose behavior corresponds to stereotypes about such people. The conceptual characteristics of the linguistic and cultural type «journalist», based on definitions, descriptions, interpretations, have been determined. The positions of journalists by type of activity – a newspaperman, a publicist, a reporter, a correspondent, a commentator, a columnist, an editor have been analyzed and the specifics of their activities has been clarified on the example of modern media: a newspaperman is a professional journalist who works in a newspaper; a publicist is a journalist who writes journalistic works, presents material devoted to topical socio-political events; a reporter is an employee of the newspaper, radio, television who writes reports on the facts of everyday life, prepares operational information material for the magazine, newspaper, radio, television; a correspondent is an employee of a newspaper, magazine, radio who sends prepared materials, publishes them or broadcasts them; a commentator – a journalist who makes comments on radio, television, in magazines, newspapers, etc.; a columnist – a journalist who prepares reviews for radio or television, is the author of publications of a general nature for a magazine, newspaper or other publication; an editor is the head of a publication, newspaper or magazine. The texts of the media present various commentators – political, international, military, economic, columnists of newspapers, magazines etc. Media discourse refers to the editor of an online publication, the editor of an international analytical publication, the editor of a newspaper, and the editor of a magazine. The proposed model of description of the linguistic and cultural types «journalist» can be used to study types on a wider textual material, as well as to implement a comparative approach to the study of linguistic and cultural types in different languages and cultures.

Abstract:
The motivation structure, exhaustion level and satisfaction level among the radio journalists are the least researched aspects both in Russian and foreign journalism. This research is based on leading Russian radio stations journalists and managers interviews and is aimed to portrait a modern radio journalist from the perspective of his attitude to the job. The research showed, that, in general, journalists are satisfied with both their work and the relationship with coworkers and the psychological climate in the editorial office. The salary is the most important motivator for all the radio journalists regardless age, interest in the job, career ambitions, fame ambitions and willingness to change the world. This means, that journalists cant be divided into those ones working for money and working for an idea. All the journalists work for money, however, some of them work, in addition, for an idea. The radio journalists feel their workload as high: about half of them feel physically and emotionally exhausted. Many journalists do overtime work: three quarters of them think themes and materials over, more than a half of them prepare materials. The male radio journalists tend to be more romantic and idealistic, the female radio journalists are often more career-oriented, and, therefore, ready to perform more difficult work without a pay rise and they prefer career to private life. Another important trend is the correlation of age and demotivation. The older journalists are less motivated by being interested in their job, an opportunity to build a career, realizing their full potential, becoming famous and changing the world for the better. However, at the same time the older journalists feel the most comfortable in the editorial office and are more often satisfied with their work, combining demotivation with the highest adaptability.

Abstract:
The aim of this study is to determine the journalist of print mass media in Medan. This study is about journalism, print media of newspaper journalistic and organizational structure of print media. The work area of journalists in Medan is public space, an area that is worthy of being known by the public or the public. Therefore, journalists are required to have the ability to reveal and inform a complete problem by upholding the values of truth and justice and must be able to make themselves half diplomats, half detectives. This means that journalists must have skilled diplomacy skills, even though the way they work is similar to detectives. Mass media journalism is a tool used to convey messages from sources to the public using mechanical communication tools, such as newspapers, radio, television, films and so on. And in this case the mass media being referred to is print mass media. That newspapers are sheets published by the press which contain news, essays, writings, advertisements, and other journalistic products that are printed periodically, circulated, and sold in general, which function as social control tools that provide information both entertainment education and another thing for the community.

Abstract:
Citizen journalism has now become one of the most developed television program concepts. If the concept was initially more widely used in radio and online media, this time with easier and cheaper technology coverage and delivery of images, it is a concept that provides a place for people to become amateur journalist that can also be easily applied in the medium of television. Research raised the issue on how the concept and implementation of citizen journalism on television in the era of media convergence. The purpose of this study is to explain concepts and demonstrate the implementation of citizen journalism on television in the era of media convergence. Research used qualitative method in which data were obtained using literature study. Results of the study showed that the implementation of citizen journalism on television is also increasingly facilitated by the entry of the television in the era of media convergence, or different media mingle, such as television with printed, radio, and Internet media. The era of media convergence makes the concept of citizen journalism can be more developed, because the platform or media distribution is also increasingly varied for amateur journalist. However, the system equipment that must be provided, human resources that must be owned, as well as huge capital to be owned make a few television stations open a lot of platforms to provide space for amateur journalist in citizen journalism.

Abstract:
This paper explores the change in Estonian media organizations’ readiness to cooperate with freelance journalists. The interviews with editors of newsrooms of magazines, newspapers, and radio and television broadcasters were conducted in 2014 and 2019. The findings were additionally tested in the conditions of the Covid-19 crisis in 2020. The paper outlines how over the five years the editors have not only changed their perception of who freelance journalists are but how they express the readiness to outsource content from journalistic entrepreneurs. We conclude that the Estonian media market shows signs of adopting diverse collaborative forms that diverge from the journalistic field. The freelancers’ concept has changed, indicating integration of journalistic and entrepreneurial roles – the entrepreneurial journalist is seen less as the odd-jobber working on commission and more of a business partner.

ABSTRACT
Radio broadcast continues to play a role in the distribution of information through its broadcast programs. As a mass media radio broadcasts not only have a function as an entertainment medium with songs that are played, but also have a function to educate and convey information. So the existence of journalists in each radio broadcast becomes an obligation. But in practice, this journalist function is not only attached to those who seek information in the field, but also those who work in the studio as broadcasters and program producers. As a mass media with a variety of program formats, radio broadcasts have diverse needs for beginner journalists. There are those who require the beginning journalist to only have sound quality and good announcing techniques, but not a few who require the beginning journalist to have good general knowledge, perseverance, and sometimes the appearance is also one of the things considered. The reason is that journalists also represent the radio, especially for those who work outside the studio. In this study, we used descriptive qualitative research. The study was conducted to broadcast radio managers with the segmentation of young people in West Java, represented by Ardan Bandung (representing greater Bandung), Radio eMDiKey (representing Priangan Timur), Radio Pilar (representing Cirebon dsk). We consider these three regions capable of representing West Java. The results of this study indicate that the qualifications of beginner journalists on radio are more emphasized in their attitude and militancy in the field. Regarding the relevance of formal education that has been taken by prospective journalists is not the main problem. The average implements re-adjustment (training) before actually being adopted as a crew on broadcast radio. The physical appearance factor is one that is considered even though it is not the main one.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Five professionals who have been working as journalist in their home countries come to Scandinavia after different kinds of terrible experiences and difficulties and there their status is refugee. They all attend to a course of radio making, radio is a new media for all of them and during the course they learn more about the media and have all by the end of the course made a radio documentary about themselves. Their documentaries were short stories about the events of their lives. More and more immigrants and refugees are coming to Scandinavia and have to build a new life in a new society. This paper explores life stories of people when integrating and seeks answers to questions why it is important to share your life story with other and could sharing your story help with integration. The interest is also in radio as a media and as a media for storytelling, what are its strengths and weaknesses and what does future hold for radio in rapidly changing media environment. The research combines two qualitative methods which are supposed to complement each other: qualitative interviews and narrative analysis for analysing radio documentaries.

Abstract:
Abstract Title: “Journalists who loves the flexible life” - A case between journalists occupational perception and work-future who works at a newspaper compared to a radio station in northern Sweden. This study is a qualitative comparison between journalists without permanent employment on a commercial newspaper and a public service owned radio station in a medium sized town in northern Sweden. The main purpose was to analyse the occupational perception and work-future among young journalists without permanent employment in the public service and the commercial sector. Another intention was to figure out if there was any similarities or differences between working for a public service owned radio station compare to a commercial newspaper. We wanted to investigate how these journalists experience and manage their work and in which way they look at their own future and journalism in general. The research applies theories such as the precariat and studies about convergence. The chosen method for the study were qualitative semi-structured interviews based on the answers from six journalists and was processed through a thematic analysis. The main conclusion of this study was that multi journalism has become a part of the journalistic agenda, both on the radio station and the newspaper. It showed that journalists has to be flexible when it comes to working schedules. Even though they had to adapt to a lot of the journalistic requirement they still accepted the funny, but yet stressful life as a journalist. One conclusion that can be drawn is that todays journalism can demand almost anything, and job seeking journalists will adapt quite well regardless of change. A final conclusion was that it's difficult to predict the future of these journalists. But a common stand point for the journalists was that almost everyone could imagine a future in another profession.

This essay aims to analyse the form of two radio documentary shows and compare them to, what I mean are a traditional, Swedish radio documentary form. The radio shows are Radiolab distributedby National Public Radio and WNYC, Övernaturligt (supernatural) produced by TredjeStatsmakten Media AB and P3 Dokumentär (P3 Documentary) distributed by Sveriges Radio. Alarge part of the essay is dedicated to develop a method to analyse form in specific radio shows. Mymethod consists of two parts:1. A defining of sounds in a spreadsheet that map out the different sound elements over time.2. An analysis of the radio documentaries using the spreadsheet, text-analytic tools, rhetoric toolsand an holistic view of how different stories connect. My essay shows how these two radio documentary shows use so called layers and the changing ofroles between the presenter and the reporter to replicate a live show in closeness to the audience andin turn, how this may affect the presentation of their journalistic content. I also show how theseradio shows use illustrative and side stories to build up the main story of the show.

Abstract:
The present study was an investigation of the occupational structure of a national sport department in a public corporation. The goal was to determine whether occupational segregation was occurring, and if so what were the processes underlying this situation. Questionnaires were administered to the personnel of a public radio station (n = 23) and subsequently interviews (n = 14) were conducted with a sample of personnel from the department, including the positions of reporter, producer, executive producer and manager. Official documents, particularly those concerning employment equity from the CRTC, were also analyzed. It was found that occupational segregation is occurring in this department, both vertically and horizontally. The dual queue theory was adopted to explain the labour market dynamics operating to perpetuate differential employment opportunities for men and women in radio sport journalism. It was discovered that although highly qualified white women are currently at the top of this particular labour queue, it is mainly a result of pressure from two main factors: the fact that it is a public company regulated by the CRTC, and the move on the part of the personnel from jock journalism to investigative sport journalism. Barriers operating to perpetuate the fact that women do not consider sport journalism as a viable career opportunity include lack of access, lack of work experience, the jock environment, stereotyping, power dynamics, lack of sporting contacts and networks, lack of mentoring or training programs. Processes occurring to reduce women's access to radio sport journalism are contextualized within the wider society, and recommendations are made, including one emphasizing the necessity to conduct an industry-wide analysis of employment opportunities for men and women in the sport media.

Abstract:
xiii, 229 p. : ill. A print copy of this title is available from the UO Libraries, under the call number: KNIGHT PN4888.R33 S26 2008<br>This study looks at the status of local radio news in the United States in light of changes in policy, economics, production and distribution technology and the dynamic media environment. It examines how differences in ownership relate to the amount of news programming offered on local stations, how those stations are staffed and the working conditions for today's radio journalists. Two areas of communication theory provide the basis for the study, Political Economy of Communication and Localism. Both offer excellent perspectives for studying the radio broadcasting industry and the people who work in it. Political economy allows the study to look closely at the impact of ownership in our capitalist society, how government regulates ownership and programming, how those factors affect the working conditions for journalists and how they ultimately impact the public interest. Political economy is a holistic approach that also calls upon us to consider a moral philosophy and make recommendations for the good of society. Localism is a long-held policy objective of the Federal Communications Commission that has been a part of the regulatory process relating to ownership and programming of news and public affairs throughout the existence of radio in the United States. Using a triangulation of both quantitative and qualitative methods, the study documents the news operations of four different types of ownership structures within a single radio market, Salt Lake City, Utah. The primary quantitative method used content analysis to examine a sample of 255 hours of radio programming across the ownership groups. Qualitative methods of in-depth interviews and observation were used to examine how the stations were staffed, the working conditions for local journalists and how the news programming is produced. The study found the overall amount of local radio news programming to be low, with locally owned stations generally producing more news then those with large, outside corporate ownership. It also found working conditions to vary greatly among ownership groups. Local owners tended to be much more supportive of local journalists and provide better conditions for the production and programming of local radio news.<br>Adviser: Alan G. Stavitsky

Abstract:
The journalistic discourse on the sustainability is the central point of this composed work of three axles: journalism, sustainability and discourse. They are the Sustainable World block presented inside CBN Magazine program, CBN AM/FM Radio, and the Guaíba Ecology program, of the Guaíba AM Radio. The study is based in the vision of the Journalism while construction, a place of election and configuration of the social assets of knowledge from the choices that are said and that is excluded from its discourse, considering, yet, the specificities of the Journalism in the radio environment. The sustainability was chosen because it’s currently the central point of all debate on environment. Despite the notion almost consensual to use the nature for the development without hindering that future generations also make it. There are antagonisms in the agreement of what development is and how to reach, this sustainability, represented by ecossocial and ecotecno chains adopted as perspectives that guide the discourses. They had been reconfigured here as Discursive Formations (DFs) and used to understand the directions produced for the journalistic discourse on sustainability, considering, yet, the study of the silencement relations and dominance of perspectives on the thematic one. To the light of the estimated ones of the Analysis of the French Discourse six editions of the Sustainable World block had been analyzed and six of the Guaíba Ecology program, selected between all the ones that had been propagated between the months of February and April of 2006. In the Sustainable World it was possible to verify the predominance of the ecossocial vision and some directions landslides, in a trespassing of the DF Ecotecno. On the Guaíba Ecology the filiations to the two DFs is perceivable, much in function of the directions constructed for the interviewed ones of the program.

Abstract:
This article explores a previously understudied field of musical practice: the use and treatment of music in radio journalism. It takes a look at a profession that particularly deals with music on a material level: the sound technicians working at radio stations. By analyzing qualitative interviews this text seeks to gain insight into self-concepts of sound technicians. The results show that the interviewees tend to rate questions of auditory aesthetics more important for their work than technical craft. At the same time, there is evidence that this self-concept only partially coincides with ideas that other authorities have about this profession.

Abstract:
Introduction of the scientometric indicator for citation quality evaluation is substantiated. The author suggests introducing the term “Citation locality coefficient”. To define permissible level of citation locality, two criteria are introduced: (1) for regional researchers, the number of citations in the local scientific journals and (2) for regional researchers, the number of citations in publications affiliated with the regional organizations. The calculation logics based on Herfindahl index and permissible self-citation ratio is substantiated.

Full text
Abstract:
In order to more clearly express the interrelation between the oil-film force on hydrodynamic journal bearing of finite length and the wedging, whiling, and squeezing motions of journals, an analytic model with well-defined physical meaning is proposed in this paper by introducing the non-slip boundary condition for the oil-film velocity gradient without modifying the basic assumption for Reynolds equation to formulate the expression of oil-film pressure distribution, obtaining the analytic solution of oil-film force through integration of circumferential pressure, and defining the effect coefficients for wedging, whirling and squeezing motions, which are related to the clearance ratio and eccentricity ratio of bearings. The proposed model is compared with an existing model to show off its advantage. The proposed model was also applied to a 200MW steam turbine low-pressure rotor-bearing system to simulate the dynamic response of the rotor during the speed-up process. The analytic results of this application proved the validity of the proposed model.

Abstract:
The article examines the formation of the image of Ukraine by the French media during the Orange Revolution. The main factors influencing the tone of publications and difficulties in creating a positive external image of Ukraine in the French media are identified. The article is aimed at the analysis of scientific research on the influence of the French media on the formation of the image of Ukraine and its role in international socio-political processes. The study analyzes the materials of French journalists in the media, written during the events in 2004. The main factors influencing the formation of positive features of the Ukrainian state are identified. The main changes in perceptions of Ukraine in the French media are systematized. The influence of the media on the formation of the image and security of the state is determined. The main peaks of interest in Ukraine from foreign mass media are analyzed. Stereotypes and myths in the image of Ukraine that should be destroyed have been identified. The article also analyzes the role of the Orange Revolution in forming a positive image of Ukraine for foreign recipients. It is also investigated what factors influence the information space of the state and its role in image formation. Examples of Russian influence on the French media in order to undermine Ukraine’s image at the international level are given. Articles, radio and TV materials are offered as an example of interest and attention to the events of 2004. At the same time, the need to control the information that enters the information space outside Ukraine has been demonstrated. However, the positive effects of the image on the support of Ukraine by foreign partners have been identified.
