Summary Objective: The aim of this study was to determine reference values for pelvic dimensions in radiographically unremarkable native Turkish cats (similar to European Shorthair cats) and to evaluate radiographic findings of the pelvis in cats with dystocia and to compare their pelvimetric measurements with those of radiographically unremarkable cats. Material and methods: Pelvimetry was performed on ventro-dorsal and lateral radiographs of radiographically unremarkable male (n = 34) and female cats (n = 23) with no history of dystocia and cats presented with dystocia. Abstract The current benchmark for the assessment of fracture risk is the status of osteoporosis based on the measurement of bone mineral density (BMD) by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA). However, DXA-based BMD has been shown to lack predictive ability for individual fracture risk. More than half of the hip fractures occur among people who are not classified as having osteoporosis. Osteoporosis (i.e. reduced bone mass) is only one risk factor for a fracture. In addition to bone mass, the mechanical strength of a bone is influenced by material and structural factors. Late-stage IVD degeneration can include dystrophic calcification, and this calcification may be detected on spinal radiographs (radiographically detectable intervertebral disc calcification [RDIDC]). Abstract Various fracture classification systems were proposed during the first half of the twentieth century. Some were based on the anatomical fracture level, while others on the underlying trauma mechanism deduced from the radiographical pattern. Between 1953 and 1967, Charles Neer collected 300 cases of patients treated under anesthesia at his institution. He developed a classification system by correlating the initial radiographs with intraoperative findings. Neer’s system integrated pathoanatomy and biomechanics in an ordinal system within the framework of Codman’s four-part approach. Hi
