Abstract:

Portraits of Judyta in Rafał Leszczyński’s and Wacław Potocki’s poems The article deals with the peraenetic representations of Judyta with particular emphasis on how she was portrayed in the epic poems of Rafał Leszczyński (1620) and Wacław Potocki (circa 1952). The author analyzes the differences of portrayal of the biblical widow in Guillaume du Bartas’ La Judit and the Polish paraphrasing of said text by Rafał Leszczyński (Iudith). Those differences were influenced not only by political, but also by moral and social factors. The best example and proof of that is the shortened and modest (as compared to the original) description of Judyta’s beauty found in Leszczyński’s text.Key words: baroque; Bible; Judyta; paraenesis; Rafał Leszczyński; Wacław Potocki;

Abstract:

City centers worldwide are perceived as essential parts of the city, where city memories are preserved and its identity is expressed. They are planned to satisfy the functional requirements and pleasurable qualities of the city. Under the accelerating urbanization of the modern city, several challenges face these centers including demographic, economic, and environmental challenges. This requires a continuous and incremental urban development process based on clear strategy and action plans. Thus, this study focuses on urban development strategies of city centers, with a focus on Rafah city located in the Gaza Strip, Palestinian Territories. The geographic location of this city near the Palestinian-Egyptian borders makes it a promising commercial city at local and regional levels. Thus, the current situation of Rafah city center has been analyzed, and several development strategies have been proposed. This has been done through a field survey based on observation and a questionnaire directed to city center users. It has been found that there is a great potential of Rafah city center to be developed as a commercial center. In this regard, several strategies and required actions have been proposed in the fields of transportation, environmental quality, shopping activities, investment opportunities, and visual perception.

Abstract:

The actin filament-associated protein and Src-binding partner, AFAP-110, is an adaptor protein that links signaling molecules to actin filaments. AFAP-110 binds actin filaments directly and multimerizes through a leucine zipper motif. Cellular signals downstream of Src527F can regulate multimerization. Here, we determined recombinant AFAP-110 (rAFAP-110)-bound actin filaments cooperatively, through a lateral association. We demonstrate rAFAP-110 has the capability to cross-link actin filaments, and this ability is dependent on the integrity of the carboxy terminal actin binding domain. Deletion of the leucine zipper motif or PKC phosphorylation affected AFAP-110's conformation, which correlated with changes in multimerization and increased the capability of rAFAP-110 to cross-link actin filaments. AFAP-110 is both a substrate and binding partner of PKC. On PKC activation, stress filament organization is lost, motility structures form, and AFAP-110 colocalizes strongly with motility structures. Expression of a deletion mutant of AFAP-110 that is unable to bind PKC blocked the effect of PMA on actin filaments. We hypothesize that upon PKC activation, AFAP-110 can be cooperatively recruited to newly forming actin filaments, like those that exist in cell motility structures, and that PKC phosphorylation effects a conformational change that may enable AFAP-110 to promote actin filament cross-linking at the cell membrane.

Aesthetics and persuasion: Reading the poster based on posters by Rafał Olbiński The article discusses the art of the poster: its characteristics, beginnings, development, materials, goals, interpretations, and connections with other arts. With reference to the opinions of R. Barthes, U. Eco and S. Wysłouch, the author presents the poster as a two-code text, which connects the signs of the primary verbal language with the signs of the secondary iconic system. The process of creating the meanings of a poster has also been described: the conversion of a poster’s denotative perceptional form into a connotative cultural one, and the creation of visual metaphors and symbols. Theoretical aspects have been illustrated with interpretations of posters made by Rafał Olbiński. The conclusion discusses a three-variant model of reading posters, which reflects various research perspectives concerning the signs of poster forms.

Abstract The Islamic da'wah movement is an interesting discussion study to always be discussed. Post-Suharto 1998, the da'wah movement in Indonesia experienced very significant developments in various public spaces. Like campus, school, place of worship and social media. This is because the tap of democracy is increasingly wide open, so that da'wah actors are increasingly free to express the Islamic movement to the public space in its own way. Interestingly, the da'wah movement in Indonesia always presents a new way of how da'wah activities are applied in the daily lives of Muslims. This article wants to explore how the Islamic market-based da'wah movement is carried out by Rafa Muslim Fashion, part of the Rafa Group as the largest Islamic publication center (Jaringan Islam) in Solo. The author arguments that the Islamic market-based da'wah movement carried out by Rafa Muslim Fashion shapes the practice of piety, the Islamic market and Islamic ideology. This important article is discussed to see how Islamic market-based da'wah movements are carried out. Previously, scholars still did not discuss much about how the da'wah movement was oriented to the Islamic market. The results of this study show that the emergence of the Islamic market-based da'wah movement as an alternative to the new da'wah movement formed piety, market competition, and Islamic ideology. Abstract:

The main objective of this study was to develop a simple and efficient spectrophotometric technique combined with chemometrics for the simultaneous determination of sulfamethoxazole (SMX) and trimethoprim (TMP) in drug formulations. Specifically, we sought: (i) to evaluate the potential use of rank annihilation factor analysis (RAFA) to pH gradual change spectrophotometric data in order to provide sufficient accuracy and model robustness; and (ii) to determine SMX and TMP concentration in drug formulations without tedious pre-treatments such as derivatization or extraction techniques which are time-consuming and require hazardous solvents. In the proposed method, the spectra of the sample solutions at different pH values were recorded and the pH-spectra bilinear data matrix was generated. On these data, RAFA was then applied to estimate the concentrations of SMX and TMP in synthetic and real samples. Applying RAFA showed that the two drugs could be determined simultaneously with concentration ratios of SMX to TMP varying from 1:30 to 30:1 in the mixed samples (concentration range is 1–30 µg mL−1 for both components). The limits of detection were 0.25 and 0.38 µg mL−1 for SMX and TMP, respectively. The proposed method was successfully applied to the simultaneous determination of SMX and TMP in some synthetic, pharmaceutical formulation and biological fluid samples. In addition, the means of the estimated RSD (%) were 1.71 and 2.18 for SMX and TMP, respectively, in synthetic mixtures. The accuracy of the proposed method was confirmed by spiked recovery test on biological samples with satisfactory results (90.50–109.80%).

Abstract:

This research is motivated by the phenomenon of the letter أن in the Qur'an surah Al-A`rāf which is not in accordance with the basic theories of Arabic linguists regarding the letter أن. Researchers use the content analysis method. Based on research that has been done, it was found that in the Al-A`rāf letter there are several syntactic functions of Mu muwal muawwal from the letter أن with the words afterwards. The syntactic functions found are found in three i`rāb, namely rafa`, naṣab, and jar. From i`rāb rafa` there are those who occupy the positions of fā`il, mubtada, isim كان, and khabar mubtada; in i`rāb naṡab some occupy the positions of maf`ūl bih, khabar كان and his brothers, maf`ūl li ajlih, mustaṡnā muttaṣil, and ma`ṭūf to isim manṣūb; in i`rāb jar there are majrūr by jar letters, domiciled as muḍāf ilaih, and ma`ṭūf to isim majrūr.

Abstract:

Marriage is a religious order and is a worship, in the context of carrying out worship that is muamalah. Muamalah in Islam is highly recommended to record it in a State document that has legal force as the Decree of the Minister of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia. No. 298, 2003, to match the document data with the facts. Before the registration of marriage in the Office of Religious Affairs, it is necessary to do rafa '(examination of marriage to prospective brides) so that the data received is valid authentic away from lies and even hoak. The purpose of Rafa 'is nothing but an examination for the validation of the terms of marriage harmony in both the State administration and Islamic law. When there is a mismatch between the administrative data of marriage with the original and its personnel, then the marriage can be canceled by the KUA and even make the marriage invalid both according to positive law and Islamic law. Abstract:

Background: There are limited data on the assessment biochemical and hematological profile in the chronic renal failure of pre and post dialysis in the Gaza Strip. Objective: To evaluating some biochemical parameters and hematological profile in the chronic renal failure of pre and post dialysis at Martyr Mohammed El-Najjar Hospital in Rafah, Gaza Strip, Palestine. Methods: Forty-three (end-stage renal disease) ESRD patients, aged 20-70 years old who were referred to Martyr Mohammed Youssef Al-Najjar Hospital in Rafah for the dialysis department. 43 apparently healthy individuals matched for ages were used as a control group for comparisons. Results: The results showed that post-dialysis higher statistically significant in Hb, RBC, HCT, PLT, AST, ALT, ALP and Ca level than pre-dialysis. While Ph, WBC, RDW, creatinine, Urea was lower statistically significant in post-dialysis than pre-dialysis (P < 0.05). Conclusion: chronic kidney disease shows abnormal hematological parameters, precisely reduced levels of RBC count, hemoglobin, hematocrit, and platelet count, in addition, pre-dialysis patients are more anemic and thrombocytopenic than post-dialysis patients and this is may indicate of lack of blood pressure and diabetic control in these patients. AST& ALT activities vary in concentration before and after dialysis and make the post-dialysis patients are higher than pre-dialysis.

Abstract:

Gaza strip suffers from a serious shortage in water resources due to the continuous increase in population, life changes, political conditions and drought caused by climate change. Due to increased demand for water for domestic use, resulting accumulation of large quantities of wastewater in the treatment plant in Rafah. Therefore, reuse of treated wastewater is one of the most recently accepted approaches to save groundwater or domestic use. The aim of this research is to study the treated effluent quality from Rafah Treatment Plant, in addition to the effect of education level of the farmers on reusing treated wastewater for irrigation. A questionnaire was distributed to farmers to investigate the acceptance of using treated effluent for irrigation, meanwhile the effluent parameters tested were BOD, COD, TKN, NH4, NO3, P, Cd, Pb, and Cu accounted for 110, 250, 108, 127, 0.23, 17.9 mg/l, < 0.003, <0.001, and 19.9 µg/l. Most of reuse parameters were higher than the recommended levels for the effluent reuse based on the recommended Palestinian Standards for irrigation. About 80.7% of farmers accept using treated wastewater in irrigation and the Chi-square test analysis showed that, at P-value =0.00095 < α= 0.05, there is a close relationship between the educational level of farmers and the acceptance of using of treated wastewater in irrigation, as long as it is safe and healthy.

Zjawisko alkoholizmu w dwudziestoleciu międzywojennym było jednym z najważniejszych problemów społecznych, które spowodowały degradację Polaków. Polacy próbowali walczyć na wiele sposobów. Podjęto szereg inicjatyw mających na celu ograniczenie picia. Znani i szanowani Polacy w latach 1918–1939 podjęli szereg działań mających na celu ograniczenie pijaństwa. W tekstach publikacji świeckich i trzeźwości podkreślali ważną rolę abstynencji w polskim społeczeństwie i ostrzegali przed konsekwencjami intensywnego picia. Propagatorami idei abstynencji w latach 1918–1939 byli: Paweł Gantkowski, Rafał Radziłłowicz, księża Jan Kapica i Michał Sopoćko.

By any measure Rafał Augustyn's Symphony of Hymns is a big piece. It clocks in at 100 minutes; requires forces of more than 170 performers, including two solo singers, electronics and solo flugelhorn; sets texts from 20 sources by 17 authors in five languages; and took its composer 20 years to write. But for all its scale, what is perhaps most impressive about the work is that across these dimensions Augustyn has written a score that is always inventive and enjoyable.

Abstract:

This paper attempts to present four different variations of the sonnet form in the poetry of Rafał Wojaczek. Through the analysis of Wojaczek’s sonnets it identifies the following variations of the sonnet’s form: a graphic sonnet, a classic sonnet, a sonnet with a final couplet (dystych), a free sonnet. It uses archival sources. This paper argues for the vitality of some of the forms of Polish poetry after 1989, and particularly of free verse, making a classical sonnet alive again in multiple ways.

Rafał Taubenschlag objął zwyczajną katedrę od 1 września 1921 r. na podstawie dekretu nominacyjnego z 31 sierpnia 1921 r. Początki jego kariery naukowej jako docenta traktować jako odpowiednik dzisiejszego samodzielnegopracownika nauki, datują się na 1913 r. Wówczas to, 2 października 1913 r., ówczesne wiedeńskie Ministerstwo Wyznań i Oświaty (dalej: MWiO) zatwierdziło uchwałę Kolegium Profesorów Wydziału Prawa UJ nadającą Rafałowi Taubenschlagowi prawo wykładania, czyli veniam legendi z zakresu prawa rzymskiego oraz tytuł docenta prywatnego UJ. Sześć lat później, 22 września 1919 r. Naczelnik Państwa Józef Piłsudski, zamianował go profesorem na nadzwyczajnej katedrze tego przedmiotu w Krakowie.

Abstract:

The aim of the paper is to present these events and experiences whose occurrence in the life of a noble family in late‑medieval Poland was the consequence of the death of husband and father. This was achieved by means of reconstructing the life story of Elżbieta, the fourth wife of the Kalisz‑district chamberlain Rafał of Gołuchowo from the Wieniawa family, as well as that of his sons and daughter (Iwan, Rafał, Jan, Andrzej, and Cherubin, and their sister Barbara), after his death. This reconstruction essentially provided insight into such activities undertaken by them or with their participation as taking ownership of the property left to the widow, establishing custody of the children that had not yet come of age and of their assets, establishing guardianship of the as yet unmarried daughter and regulating the payment of her part of the family money in the form of a monetary dowry, and, in time, dividing the family estate between the brothers. These actions were, in a way, a natural consequence of the death of husband and father, and were a part of the life of most families living in those times. An analysis of their realisation in social practice based on relevant records in court’s registers allow to understand the underlying legal customs, only partly reflected in the norms of the written law, as well as the events and experiences which resulted from the death of husband and father for his wife and children, and the role played by their relatives in this period of their lives.
