More than a century after Nietzsche's proclamation of the “death of God,” some recent books speak alarmingly of “the revenge of God” and the prospect of a “new cold war”—a conflict pitting religious “fundamentalists” against agnostic secularists on a worldwide scale. Remembering the cultural struggles of nineteenthcentury Europe, one might say that today Kulturkampfhas been globalized. At this juncture it seems timely to reexamine the meaning of secularism and secularization and their relation to religious faith.

El artículo examina la noción de Dios en Raimon Panikkar. El análisis parte de los supuestos con los que el autor elabora un discurso de la divinidad, el cual debe ser ajeno a una cultura o tradición religiosa determinada. De ahí se desprende una noción de Dios como símbolo, permitiendo vertebrar las nociones básicas de Trinidad y Trinidad radical para desembocar en su concepción de Dios como relación. El objetivo es revisar los planteamientos a través de los cuales Panikkar llega a la desontologización de Dios y proponer su concepción de Dios relacional.
