In this paper tow methods which are Raleigh Ritz and CB used for reducing the model, the methods were applied in beam consisting of two components, each component in beam was divided in substructures, the result of these methods are compare with FEM, the errors in eigenvalue and eigenvector was obtained, these methods were reapplied in the beam with attached spring at the joint point, the errors of classical and non classical were very closed, the Raleigh-Ritz method is so closed to the FEM compare with CB in eigenvalue.

Abstract The nonlinear load-deflection relations of bonded circular disks and infinitely long strips are studied. Finite element analysis is used to evaluate the empirical formula proposed by Payne, which justifies the need for a better formula to predict the load-deflection relation for blocks with large shape factors under a relatively large deformation. General expressions for the load-deflection relations of blocks under axisymmetrical and plane-strain deformations are presented based on a variational approach, i.e. the Raleigh-Ritz method, in which no specific form of strain energy functi

The objective was to model planar motion of a flexible beam with a tip mass that is driven by two kinematic rotational degrees of freedom which are (1) at the center of the hub and (2) at the point the beam is attached to the hub. The equations of motion were derived using Lagrange’s equations and were solved using the finite element method. The results for the natural frequencies of the beam especially at high tip masses and high rotational velocities of the hub were calculated and compared to results obtained using the Raleigh-Ritz method. Abstract In this paper, a modified Fourier solution based on the first-order shear deformation theory is developed for the free vibration problem of moderately thick composite laminated annular sector plates with general boundary conditions, internal radial line and circumferential arc supports. In this solution approach, regardless of boundary conditions, the displacement and rotation components of the sector plate are written in the form of the trigonometric series expansion in which several auxiliary terms are added to ensure and accelerate the convergence of the series. This paper undertakes model development and numerical simulations of vibration problem of piezoelectrically actuated thin plates with a holistic perspective. Constitutive laws governing piezoelectric actuator are integrated with the potential and kinetic energies of combined plate-actuator system. The equations of motions are derived using variational approach and verified with results obtained by Newton’s equilibrium approach. It is verified that the field coupled components associated with piezoelectric actuator appear as distributed moments over the area of the actuator. The equations of mo

In this paper, a computational approach is adopted to solve the optimal control and optimal parameter selection problems of a rotating flexible beam fully covered with active constrained layer damping (ACLD) treatment. The beam rotates in a vertical plane under the gravitational effect with variable angular velocity and carries an end mass. Tangent coordinate system and the moving coordinate system are used in the system modeling. Due to the highly nonlinear and coupled characteristics of the system, a relative description method is used to represent the motion of the beam and the motion equat

Optimal shape design to acoustically tailor arbitrary radiating structures is one approach to optimal structural acoustic design that has not been extensively employed due to the added complexities inherent in the grid remeshing requirements. In the research described in this paper, the acoustic superposition method is used to determine the sound power radiation objective function and relies on prescribed virtual acoustic sources to match the structural surface volume velocity. The acoustic surface pressure over each element of the discretized model is then determined via straightforward matri
