Abstract:
The aim of this thesis is a development of a new class of financial models with random parameters, which are computationally efficient and have the same level of performance as existing ones. In particular, this research is threefold. I have studied the evolution of storable commodity and commodity futures prices in time using a new random parameter model coupled with a Kalman filter. Such a combination allows one to forecast arbitrage-free futures prices and commodity spot prices one step ahead. Another direction of my research is a new volatility model, where the volatility is a random varia

Abstract:

Abstract:
Model-based clustering is based on a finite mixture of distributions, where each mixture component corresponds to a different group, cluster, subpopulation, or part thereof. Gaussian mixture distributions are most often used. Criteria commonly used in choosing the number of components in a finite mixture model include the Akaike information criterion, Bayesian information criterion, and the integrated completed likelihood. The best model is taken to be the one with highest (or lowest) value of a given criterion. This approach is not reasonable because it is practically impossible to decide wha

This research study focuses on the application models of Data Mining and Machine Learning covering cellular network traffic, in the objective to arm Mobile Network Operators with full view of performance branches (Services, Device, Subscribers). The purpose is to optimize and minimize the time to detect service and subscriber patterns behaviour. Different data mining techniques and predictive algorithms have been applied on real cellular network datasets to uncover different data usage patterns using specific Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Key Quality Indicators (KQI).

Abstract:
This research work concentrate on developing digital soil maps to support field based plant phenotyping research. We have developed soil organic matter content (OM), cation exchange capacity (CEC), natural soil drainage class, and tile drainage line maps using topographic indices and aerial imagery. Various prediction models (universal kriging, cubist, random forest, C5.0, artificial neural network, and multinomial logistic regression) were used to estimate the soil properties of interest.

Abstract:
Regional integration gained popularity and is prioritised globally, especially in developing economies, including those on the African continent. This is based on its potential to accelerate trade, stimulate economic growth, and increase access to basic necessities and to induce a sustainable increase in economic output and improved standards of living. Regional integration in the context of developing economies is entirely implicit. Modern literature observes it as a policy option for dealing with a wide variety of issues related to politics, economic factors, and societal welfare. The
