Profile monitoring is a relatively new approach in quality control best used where the process data follow a profile (or curve) at each time period. The essential idea for profile monitoring is to model the profile via some parametric, nonparametric, and semiparametric methods and then monitor the fitted profiles or the estimated random effects over time to determine if there have been changes in the profiles. The majority of previous studies in profile monitoring focused on the parametric modeling of either linear or nonlinear profiles, with both fixed and random effects, under the assumption

Linear mixed-effects (LME) models are frequently used for modeling longitudinal data. One complicating factor in the analysis of such data is that samples are sometimes obtained from a population with significant underlying heterogeneity, which would be hard to capture by a single LME model. Such problems may be addressed by a finite mixture of linear mixed-effects (FMLME) models, which segments the population into subpopulations and models each subpopulation by a distinct LME model. Abstract:
In conventional tracking algorithms the targets are usually considered as point source objects. However, in realistic scenarios the point source assumption is often not suitable and estimating the states of an object extension characterized by a collectively moving ballistic object group (cluster) becomes a very critical and relevant problem which has applications in the defense area. Recently, a Bayesian approach to extended object tracking using random matrices has been proposed. Within this approach, ellipsoidal object extensions are modeled by random matrices and t

In this thesis we study mean field interacting particle systems and their McKean-Vlasov limiting processes, in particular we focus on three different interaction mechanisms, mainly emerging from biological modelling. The first type of interaction is given by the so called simultaneous jumps. We consider a system of interacting jump-diffusion processes that interact by means of the discontinuous component: each particle performs a main jump and it simultaneously induces in all the other particles a simultaneous jump whose amplitude is rescaled with the size of the system. This peculiar interact

Abstract:
Elliptic curves were first proposed as a basis for public key cryptography in the mid 1980's. They provide public key cryptosystems based on the difficulty of the elliptic curve discrete logarithm problem (ECDLP) , which is so called because of its similarity to the discrete logarithm problem (DLP) over the integers modulo a large prime. One benefit of elliptic curve cryptosystems (ECCs) is that they can use a much shorter key length than other public key cryptosystems to provide an equivalent level of security. For example, 160 bit ECCs are believed to provide about the same level of security
