Background: Environmental pollution and exposure to lead (Pb) through household paint continue to be a great concern, especially for low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Methods: We measured the Pb levels of solvent-based paints commercially available in Karachi, Pakistan. We visited major markets and collected commonly available brands of paint, sampling the yellow, red, and white colors of each. The paint samples’ Pb content was measured using inductively coupled argon plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES). Results: Of the 60 analyzed paint samples, 24 (40%) contained Pb levels

This research is intended to investigate the utilization of paint waste as a raw material of paving block. The variations of waste addition are used to study the compressive strength of paving based on the mixture of sand and cement. The addition of paint waste by 2.5 % w/w diminishes the compressive strength from 25.6MPa to 9.9 MPa. The compressive strength for the addition of 5%, 7.5%, 10%, and 15% ar

Today, minerals have a wide range of applications, among which the production of pigments holds a significant place. Green-colored minerals such as glauconite, celadonite, volkonskoite, and malachite are of particular interest. In ancient times, artisans prepared paints from these pigments themselves, giving rise to names that may seem unusual to us but were familiar to them. Abstract During single particle analysis of aerosol in Kraków (Poland) we noticed a new component, that is, aggregates of TiO2 particles. These aggregates are from 0.5 to 4 μm and are composed of individual particles whose size typically varies from between 100 and 350 nm. Smaller particles (below 100 nm) also occur. TiO2 particles are relatively abundant in the summer. The size distribution of the particles corresponds to “pigmentary” TiO2, which indicates that they could be derived from paints and building materials. TiO2 particles were not previously identified in aerosol samples in Kraków,
