Abstract:
In April 2004, there was a serious outbreak of a tomato (Lypersicon esculentum Mill.) leaf spot disease in Mgeta, Mvomero District of Tanzania. The disease was characterized by lesions on green tomato fruits that were small, sunken, and black and were surrounded by darker green haloes. Lesions on ripe tomato fruits were dark brown to black, superficial, and measured approximately 1 to 2 mm in diameter. On the leaves, lesions were small, black, and surrounded by chlorotic (yellow) haloes. In some cases, the specks coalesced to form large lesions on older leaves. Black lesions were also observed

In the spring of 2006, canola (Brassica napus L.) plants suffering from wilt were observed in an experimental plot at Merredin, Western Australia. Symptoms on the affected plants were tan-brown, longitudinal streaks along the main stem and on some lateral branches. Lesions on the stem were predominantly unilateral but sometimes covered the entire stem. Some of the lateral branches were completely wilted, and if present, pods were either shriveled or contained small seed. At the base of the stem, the lesions were grayish brown streaks that caused longitudinal splitting of the stem base. Small s

It seems clear that people who are deaf ... struggle continually against the meanings that others impose on their experience, and the way that this separates them from others. They struggle for acknowledgement of the way they see their lives and wish to live them, and aspire to connection?with other people, to share and belong. (David Moorhead. Knowing Who I Am. 1995. 85.) The Central Adelaide Hills provides the locality for achieving this, which a peri-urban environment is subject to the power exerted by urban Adelaide as well as the tension arising out of land use conflict and attitudes to the environment."

Abstract:
Some of Australia’s most pressing conservation problems are found in the arid and semi-arid rangelands where the traditional major land-use is extensive pastoralism. Yet with the emergence of a change in resource values, the rangelands of Australia have started to move away from a strict production land-use towards a multifunctional land-use where pastoralism, tourism and the environment have an influence on one another. With the present mixture of consumption and protection values in the rangelands, ecotourism represents a model for achieving a symbiotic relationship between tourism activity

Abstract:
This thesis examined the impact of anthropogenic alterations in four riverine catchments of the Eastern Mt. Lofty Ranges, South Australia, to identify if creek restoration via environmental flows is a viable management option and if so, to determine; 1) Whether an aquatic/riparian viable seed bank was present and if so what was its composition 2) The ecological condition of selected riverine reaches. This in combination with the seed bank study would identify those creeks that would most benefit from the imposition of environmental flows 3) The response of key species to the water regimes like

Abstract:
The Ormen Lange offshore pipelines from shore to the field go through very difficult terrain creating freespans in the range 40–80m for the 30” lines. For the 6” lines long freespans will be present prior to burial and vortex induced vibrations (VIV) will give a contribution during laying due to strong currents. Using existing codes for fatigue calculation was giving too conservative results compared to the welding technology used and experience from SCR work showed that better S-N data should be expected. A dedicated program was started as part of the Ormen Lange (OL) technology verification
