Currently, five peptide modulators of acid-sensing ion channels (ASICs) attributed to structural class 1b of sea anemone toxins have been described. The APETx2 toxin is the first and most potent ASIC3 inhibitor, so its homologs from sea anemones are known as the APETx-like peptides. We have discovered that two APETx-like peptides from the sea anemone Heteractis crispa, Hcr 1b-3 and Hcr 1b-4, demonstrate different effects on rASIC1a and rASIC3 currents. Abstract:

Eight species collected in the upper Volga Area are listed. Six species, Orthezia urticae (Linnaeus), Trionymus perrisii (Signoret), Acanthococcus baldonensis Rasina, Greenisca brachypodii Borchsenius & Danzig, Eriopeltis lichtensteini Signoret, and Chionaspis salicis (Linnaeus) are recorded from the Volga Area for the first time. Variability of Trionymus perrisii (Signoret) is discussed and illustrated.

We investigate theoretically the spin accumulation of a quantum wire nonadiabatically connected to two normal leads in the presence of Rashba and Dresselhaus spin–orbit coupling (SOC). Using scattering matrix approach within the effective free-electron approximation, three components of spin polarization have been calculated. The Rashba effect peculiarities in gated accumulation layers on the zero-gap HgCdTe are studied theoretically and experimentally. It is shown that the kinetic binding is strongly affected by spin–orbit interaction. Abstract:

We propose a multi-terminal (non-magnetic) mesoscopic electrical transport measurement for measuring spin Hall effect and Rashba spin–orbit strength. Our methods use a three terminal mesoscopic device, in which one of the terminals acts as a voltage probe. We show that the charge conductance, spin Hall conductance and voltage measured at the non-magnetic voltage probe depends on the strength of the Rashba spin–orbit interaction.

Abstract:

In this paper, the anisotropic magnetoresistance (AMR) and electron conductivity of electron gas in presence of the Rashba and Dresselhaus spin-orbit coupling are investigated. Boltzmann equation is solved exactly for low temperature, including electron scattering. Calculations have been performed within the coherent potential approximation. Results of the transport study demonstrate that the AMR enhances as the Rashba strength increases. It is also observed that the AMR depends critically on spin-orbit coupling strength, wave vector and Dresselhaus strength.
