The aim of this work was to compare the disappearance rate of human and rat intermediate density lipoproteins (IDL) using the rat liver perfusion system. Human and rat IDL were produced in vitro by incubating human or rat very low density lipoproteins (VLDL) with either rat post-heparin plasma (method I) or a resolubilized isopropanol precipitate of rat post-heparin plasma (method II). With both methods, the degree of triacylglycerol lipolysis was approximately 55%. The different preparations of IDL were labelled with 125I and added to perfusates of rat livers. Members of the Rab 3 subfamily of low-molecular-mass GTP-binding proteins have been functionally implicated in regulated exocytosis. The aim of the present study was to examine the subcellular distribution of a member of this family, Rab 3D, in rat adipose cells, given the hypothesis that this protein might be involved in insulin-stimulated GLUT4 exocytosis. We show that Rab 3D immunoreactivity is associated predominantly with the high-density microsomal fraction, where the signal intensity is 3-and 7-fold greater than that in plasma membranes and low-density microsomes respectively. Epilepsy causes changes in neuronal networks. The aim of this work was to study the properties of hippocampal CA1 neurons and their inputs in a lithium-pilocarpine model of epilepsy. We found an enhancement of the direct pathway from entorhinal cortex to CA1, while inputs from CA3 are reduced. Moreover, the density of dendritic spicules in str. lacunosum moleculare, is 2,5-fold higher in rats with epilepsy. In addition, the summation of responses upon stimulation of the direct pathway from the entorhinal cortex was enhanced approximately 2-fold.

Mounting evidence indicates that microvascular deterioration in aged brain relates to oxidative stress. Nuclear factor erythroid-related factor 2 (Nrf2) plays an important role in cellular antioxidant defense. Regular physical exercise is well known to have beneficial effect to brain health, including promoted blood flow and augmented angiogenesis, in aging individuals. However, the underlying mechanism of regular physical exercise in improvement of brain microvascular density during advanc

Abstract:
In this working paper, we estimate agricultural total factor productivity (Ag TFP) for South American countries over the period 19692016 and identify how road density affect technical efficiency. In 2015, Colombia, Peru, Venezuela, Ecuador, and Bolivia, the Andean countries, had 205,000; 166,000; 96,000; 89,000; and 43,000 kilometers of roads, respectively. A poor-quality and limited road network, along with inaccessibility to markets, might limit the ability of farms to efficiently manage production inputs, raising technical inefficiency. We find that the Ag TFP growth rate per year for South
