Prostaglandin (PG)F₂α has previously been shown to increase glucose output from perfused livers and isolated hepatocytes, where it stimulated glycogen phosphorylase via an inositol-trisphosphatedependent signal pathway. Binding studies could not be performed with intact hepatocytes, because PGF₂α accumulated within the cells even at 4°C. The intracellular accumulation was an order of magnitude higher than binding to plasma membranes. Purified hepatocyte plasma memb

Louie, Victoria Yvonne. "Effect of thyroid status on plasma silicon levels of rats." Thesis, University of British Columbia, 1986. http://hdl.handle.net/2429/25921.

Abstract:
The present study was undertaken to investigate the nature of the relationship between thyroid status and plasma silicon concentrations in bone maturation of rats from birth until the time of weaning. Virgin female Sprague-Dawley rats were bred overnight and then assigned to one of three groups: control, hypothyroid or hyperthyroid. Offsprings of dams were made hypothyroid or hyperthyroid relative to euthyroid controls during the neonatal period. Hypothyroid pups were given 0.05% (w/v) propylthiouracil in deionized water as the sole source of drinking fluid of the dams from day 12 of gestatio

Abstract:
In this thesis, the research and development of a novel rapid figuring procedure for large ultra-precise optics by Reactive Atom Plasma technology is reported. The hypothesis proved in this research is that a metre scale surface with a form accuracy of ~1 μm PV can be figure corrected to 20 – 30 nm RMS in ten hours. This reduces the processing time by a factor ten with respect to state-of-the-art techniques like Ion Beam Figuring. The need for large scale ultra-precise optics has seen enormous growth in the last decade due to large scale international research programmes. A bottleneck in produ
