Abstract:
Abstract This paper presents a case study on participatory and collaborative traditional design-build architecture in Romania. The focus is set on dismantling, relocating, rebuilding and reusing a 19th century wooden church with the efforts of the adopting community. In Romania, wood is used as a traditional building material, largely for roof framing elements in urban areas and in most mountainous rural areas for the construction of houses and churches. Due to an ongoing demographic rural-urban migration and emigration many villages have, and are being depopulated, subsequently abandoned and

Over the past fifteen years, return migration has become a fertile research area in migration studies, in particular in sociology and cultural anthropology. Via transnational optics, the concept of return has been redefined as a fluid, multidirectional and reversible movement between the social space of the country of origin and the country of immigration (or a third country). Return has also been expanded by the idea of virtual, short-term, temporary and circular return, while research has expanded to both migrant and postmigrant (so-called second and later) generations.

Counter-diasporic migration, or the return of diasporic descendants to an ancestral land, has become a noticeable global trend. This chapter troubles linear narratives of emigration and immigration by examining the re-migration of diasporic descendants. It focuses on Chinese diasporic descendants in Malaya, Indonesia, and Vietnam who were compelled to leave due to ethnic persecution between the years 1949 and 1979, a period that coincided with the inauguration of communist rule in China. The Chinese state resettled the refugees in state-owned farms and labeled them as “returnees,” legitimizing

Abstract:
The globalization of higher education labour market and endeavour to capitalize on diaspora recently called to attention the reconsideration of the administrative procedures in place for awarding a professorship in Latvia. It is claimed that deconstruction of administrative barrier – requirement of doctoral degree – will make it easier for qualified members of the diaspora to re-emigrate to Latvia. Referring to the raised assertions in favour of the proposed amendments, the author reacts, cautiously supporting her own argumentation by findings of recent researches on diaspora and high skilled
