Abstract:
Micro-architectural footprints can be used to distinguish one application from another. Most modern processors feature hardware performance counters to monitor the various micro-architectural events when an application is executing. These ready-made hardware performance counters can be used to create program fingerprints and have been shown to successfully differentiate between individual applications. In this paper, we demonstrate how ready-made hardware performance counters, due to their coarse-grain nature (low sampling rate and bundling of similar events, e.g., number of instructions instead of number of add instructions), are insufficient to this end. This observation motivates exploration of tailor-made hardware performance counters to capture fine-grain characteristics of the programs. As a case study, we evaluate both ready-made and tailor-made hardware performance counters using post-quantum cryptographic key encapsulation mechanism implementations. Machine learning models trained on tailor-made hardwareperformance counter streams demonstrate that they can uniquely identify the behavior of every post-quantum cryptographic key encapsulation mechanism algorithm with at least 98.99% accuracy.

Lange-Küttner, Christiane. "Ready-Made and Self-Made Facilitation Effects of Arrays." Swiss Journal of Psychology 69, no. 4 (January 2010): 189–200. http://dx.doi.org/10.1024/1421-0185/a000023.

Full text
Abstract:
The study investigates the relationship between array priming and the self-generated conceptualization of arrays in spatial memory. Nursery and primary school age children and adults (N = 70) were tested with an object and place memory reaction-time/accuracy task, once first using a frame (containment and figurative thought) and (in another session) using a grid (explicit boundaries around places). They were also given the Common Region Test (CRT) with which drawing of object-place vs. object-region binding was tested. Object memory was better than place memory in 5-year-olds, but place memory had caught up in older children. Ten-year-olds showed already an accuracy comparable to young adults, and they also remembered places somewhat better and faster than object shapes. Experiencing the explicitly denoted places in the grid in the first session improved place memory in the second session with the frame, but not vice versa. Object-place binding in the CRT predicted better object than place memory, while object-region binding predicted place memory equal to or better than object memory. These binding strategies statistically eliminated the array priming effects of the grid, showing a trade-off between “self-made” spatial encoding strategy and priming with a “ready-made” spatial array structure.

Abstract:
The inclusion of specialized food products intended for a specific category of the population is one of the measures aimed at improving the nutritional structure of children. The baby food industry is constantly evolving to meet the time challenges. New directions include the production of dishes of a high degree of readiness for baby nutrition. The direction of the production of ready-made meals has not yet been formed in baby nutrition and has broad prospects. The use of modern heat treatment technologies, including the production of dishes with a short shelf life, allows you to bring products and dishes as close as possible to homemade ones.

Abstract:
Purpose – The primary aim of this paper is to evaluate the challenges before the growth of the ready-made garment (RMG) industry in Bangladesh, the economy's backbone, and suggest appropriate reform. Design/methodology/approach – The paper begins by tracing the growth and evolution of the RMG industry before identifying the challenges. It then proceeds to suggest appropriate reform for the same. Findings – The paper argues for more effective models of collective bargaining and unionism as a solution to the problems that the industry faces. Originality/value – The paper is the first of its kind in the sense that it is a comprehensive account of the challenges to the RMG industry in Bangladesh.

Abstract:
Factory level workers help empower workers at shop floor level about health and safety. This is even better when owners work with them as a team. Training should not be about giving directions. Education has to be coupled with advocacy, training and empowerment. The empowerment of workers is for sustainable change focussing on long term betterment. The goal is capacity building and to make a skilled advocate. The final outcome is for structural provisions to improve and workplace practices to change. The medical services for the workers should also be in the agenda. Gender should be highlighted and women’s health and safety should be in the fore-front. The empowered workers can now speak up for themselves. There is a diversification with different sectors. Everyone should be equipped with International occupational safety and health (OSH) standards.

Abstract:
Bangladesh is the 2nd largest readymade garment exporter in the world. But in terms of productivity, its performance is below the mark. Many studies were performed to increase the productivity of our readymade garment industry by applying proper line balancing, time study, lean manufacturing system etc. Similarly this paper is an attempt to analyze the potential increase in garment productivity by applying a non-monetary process that is related with changing the behavioral aspect of the readymade garment workers. The study shows only slight change in worker attitude along with proper supervision can bring about a tremendous increase in garment productivity which can make the readymade garment products more price competitive to the foreign buyers.

Abstract:
The ready-made garments (RMG) sector of Bangladesh has developed immensely under the broad radar of the export market, and its size is beyond imagination. Unfortunately, there has been no study that explores the whole universe of the RMG sector of Bangladesh rather the story of the RMG sector often involves the export market only. The discussion of this paper intends to explore the methodology of unboxing the whole universe of the RMG sector of Bangladesh that includes small and medium-sized manufacturing and processing units that are often involved with subcontracting for other factories (producing for the export market as well as domestic market), are suppliers of the domestic market, are producers of accessories, and are providing backward linkages and associated services. The discussion addresses that along with export-oriented RMG factories there exists an unexplored and unboxed universe of manufacturing and processing units associated with the RMG sector of Bangladesh that contributes to investment, employment, trade, export, and the economy as a whole, all of which remains unaccounted for.

Abstract:
For obvious reasons, the former German Democratic Republic (GDR) is widely seen as a unique and exceptional case of postcommunist transformation. As a result of its swift and complete incorporation into the Federal Republic of Germany, it is generally not included in comparative transformation studies. This article proposes a reinterpretation of the East German experience that stresses its character as an experiment in radical social engineering under almost ideal conditions—and as such is of considerable relevance for the general problem of controlled social change. After reviewing East Germany's first 5 years of transformation, the article argues that it is precisely some of its unique and exceptional characteristics that make East Germany into a paradigmatic case of “shock therapy” and holistic reform strategy. The conclusion suggests a number of general implications that can be derived from the East German case thus reinterpreted—concerning knowledge, irreversibility, technocratic power, and democracy.
