We explore the effects of land reclamation on the morphological evolution and sediment sorting on a tidal flat using a state-of-the-art numerical model (Delft3D). Consistent with existing field observations and analytical theories, model results indicate that the longitudinal profile adjusts itself converging to new equilibrium states (narrower and steeper) after a series of reclamations. Relatively fine sediments deposit adjacent to the sea dike, due to the flood-dominated tidal hydrodynamics. The amount of sediment deposition in front of the dike peaks when the dike is designed at mean sea l

A study was initiated in 1987 to assess the effectiveness of grid drainage to intercept canal and natural groundwater seepage and reclaim the resulting saline affected land.<br>Using a groundwater flow model, MODFLOW, it was found that a single deep interceptor drain would have failed to intercept all canal seepage and maintain the water table downslope of the canal below the 1.0 m design water table depth. Abstract:
The non-black earth zone of Russia is a zone of guaranteed harvest of major agricultural crops. However, at present, the potential of the reclaimed lands of the Non-Black Earth Region remains largely unrealized. In world agricultural practice, land reclamation combined with the use of modern technical means is an important factor in the development of agriculture, a condition for a consistently high level of agricultural production. Therefore, in all countries, reclaimed lands are given a special status, and the necessary amount of reclamation fund of agricultural lands is created.

This paper highlights some practical considerations of soil structure interactions in the design of the breakwater for a land reclamation project at Da Ya Bay, Southern China sea, through three-dimensional finite element analysis. A pile-breakwater-foundation system is evaluated during its construction and after construction has been completed. The maximum deflections and moments of the piles take place in the soft marine clay underneath the breakwater. The deformation of the soft soil imposes great impact on the slender pile. Based on the study, it is considered inadequate to solely increase
