AbstractFluvial and aeolian sandstones of the Sergi Formation are the most important reservoirs of the Recôncavo Basin, Brazil. Optical and scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and infrared spectroscopy revealed the occurrence of dickite, a clay mineral indicative of deep burial conditions (T >100ºC), in the shallow Buracica (630–870 m) and Água Grande (1300–1530 m) oilfields. Vermicular dickite replaces K-feldspar and plagioclase grains, and fills intra- and inter-granular pores. Its vermicular habit is a product of pseudomorphic kaolinite transformation during burial. ABSTRACT. Tomography was incorporated in Exploration Geophysics with the intention of providing high-resolution images of regions in Earth’s subsurface that are characterized as potential reservoirs. In this work, seismic traveltime tomography in the transmission mode was applied to real data from the Dom João Field, Recôncavo Basin, State of Bahia, Brazil. This basin represents a landmark of oil exploration in Brazil and has been intensively studied since the 1950’s. To reach this task, the proposed method relies on the invariance of the inclination of the anomalous gravity field with the density contrast caused by models constituted by two homogeneous media. This invariance occurs because the density contrast appears as a constant factor in both vertical and horizontal gravity components, therefore being canceled out when these components are divided during the evaluation of the field inclination. We present an interpretation method for the gravity anomaly of an arbitrary interface separating two homogeneous media. It consists essentially of a downward continuation of the observed anomaly and the division of the continued anomaly by a scale factor involving the density contrast between the media. The knowledge of the interface depth at isolated points is used to estimate the depth [Formula: see text] of the shallowest point of the interface, the density contrast Δρ between the two media, and the coefficients [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] of a first‐order polynomial represe

The objective of this work was to determine the macronutrient doses that allow the highest phytomass yield and growth of basil plants. The experiment was carried out in the experimental area of the Federal University of Recôncavo da Bahia, in Cruz das Almas, BA, in a greenhouse. The treatments were obtained according to the Baconian matrix statistical arrangement, in which one of the nutrients is supplied in variable amounts, while the others are kept at a referential level. Six nutrients (nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K), calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg) and sulfur (S)) were evaluate

Abstract:
AbstractSarcosuchus hartii was a top predator that inhabited the fluvial and coastal areas of north-eastern Brazil during the Early Cretaceous. Several fossil remains were recovered during the late 19th and early 20th centuries from strata that outcrop in the Recôncavo Basin in the state of Bahia. A re-analysis of this material shows that S. hartii is a valid species. The Brazilian taxon differs from the African Sarcosuchus imperator in the unique pattern of anastomosing ornamentation observed on the enamel surface. The inclusion of S. hartii in a novel phylogenetic analysis recovered it insid
