Abstract:
Transmission lines play an important role in the successful and stable operation and distribution of power grids both for power evacuation from power plants and as a link from one Substation to another. The construction of new transmission lines as a form of meeting high electricity needs in the current era of Globalization has many obstacles, both in terms of rejection from residents, expensive licensing arrangements, and very expensive investment costs. Reconductoring is one of the methods of increasing transmission capacity at minimum cost with an adequate level of quality and reliability.

Abstract:
In this study, a two-stage methodology based on the energy savings gained by optimal network reconductoring was developed for the sizing and allocation of electric vehicle (EV) charging load at the residential locations in urban distribution systems. During the first stage, the Flower Pollination Algorithm (FPA) was applied to minimize the annual energy losses of the radial distribution system through optimum network reconductoring. A multi-objective function was formulated to minimize investment, peak loss, and annual energy loss costs at different load factors. The results obtained with the

Transmission networks recently faced new technical and economic challenges. The direct use of advanced technologies and modern methods could solve these issues. This paper discusses the potential application of straightforward technology such as high-temperature low-sag conductors (HTLScs) as an additional measure for the protection and effective operation of overhead power lines. An evaluation was conducted to determine an approach for selecting the cross-sectional area and type of conductor with respect to a fault current limitation. As countries pursue decarbonization goals, the rapid expansion of transmission capacity for renewable energy (RE) integration poses a significant challenge due to hurdles such as permitting and cost allocation. However, we find that large-scale reconductoring with advanced composite-core conductors can cost-effectively double transmission capacity within existing right-of-way, with limited additional permitting. This strategy unlocks a high availability of increasingly economically viable RE resources in close proximity to the existing network. We implement reconductoring in a model of the US
