In descriptions of the scale of the Japanese record industry, the most used source is the production data published by the Japan Phonograph Record Association (JPRA). Twenty-five major record companies in Japan are affiliated with this association (as of July 1990). Every month, each affiliated record company reports to the JPRA their production figures (total number of all records produced) and the wholesale revenues for themselves and the non-affiliated record companies who entrusted them with their production. These non-affiliated companies are called ‘outsiders’.

This article assesses the claims of exploitation leveled against mid-twentieth-century Jewish record company owners, focusing on Herman Lubinsky and his Savoy Records. Lubinsky faced a highly competitive economic climate as the commercial popularity of jazz waned in the 1950s. By attending solely to the few record company owners who became successful, and treating favorably those with noticeable appreciation for the music or the musicians, historians have mischaracterized owners, like Lubinsky, who prioritized risk management in their business ventures.

In the American record industry, independent record companies have long held a cultural status that far exceeds the actual economic impact they have in the market-place. Independent record companies, or ‘indies’, have become understood as innovative and creative oases for new or unconventional musicians in the midst of a capital-driven and profit-oriented record business. The development of a wide range of musical genres and styles – from rhythm and blues and soul to punk and industrial – are often attributed to the small companies that operated outside of the control of the larger ‘major’ lab

Abstract:
The keeping of accurate records of meetings is a fundamental requirement for the efficient management of any institution. As has been discussed in Chapter 17, concerning minutes of shareholders’ meetings, it is important to note that minutes are not a verbatim transcript of the proceedings of a particular meeting, but an accurate record in summary form of what has been debated and decided. In general, minutes of directors’ meetings will record what has been resolved upon, but there may be occasions when the minutes of a board meeting need to record the reasons for a particular decision or the main points arising from a discussion. Where directors of a public listed company have concerns about the way in which that company is being managed or the operation of the board or about a course of action being proposed by the board, the UK Corporate Governance Code requires that directors should ensure that their concerns are recorded in the board minutes if they cannot be resolved. As a matter of practice, directors must appreciate that they may be called to account for their conduct and stewardship of the company’s affairs at any stage, and especially if the company becomes insolvent or

This chapter examines why the firms that introduced a type of recorded jazz that was successful switched to champion another type of jazz that was less successful. Using both qualitative historical and quantitative analyses, the chapter explores record company comparative advantage in the context of sociological congruence. It also considers the relationship between jazz, race, and Victorian-era firms. In particular, the chapter considers a key source of jazz's illegitimacy with respect to cultural elites: its association with African Americans. It shows that incumbents, after releasing the earliest jazz recordings (in 1917–1918), reoriented the production of jazz music to align with their identities as producers of symphonic music amid mounting elite anti-jazz sentiments.

In the proposed method, the demand is first predicted according to the shipment records, then the material requirement planning and the capacity requirement planning are done based on the demand prediction.
