Let X1,X2,… be a sequence of independent and identically distributed random variables with some continuous distribution function F. Let L(n) and X(n) denote the nth record time and the nth record value, respectively. We refer to the variables Xi as near-nth-record observations if Xi∈(X(n)-a,X(n)], with a>0, and L(n)<i<L(n+1). In this work we study asymptotic properties of the number of near-record observations. We also discuss sums of near-record observations.

Abstract:
In descriptions of the scale of the Japanese record industry, the most used source is the production data published by the Japan Phonograph Record Association (JPRA). Twenty-five major record companies in Japan are affiliated with this association (as of July 1990). Every month, each affiliated record company reports to the JPRA their production figures (total number of all records produced) and the wholesale revenues for themselves and the non-affiliated record companies who entrusted them with their production. These non-affiliated companies are called ‘outsiders’.

Abstract:
We study a random record model where the observation Xi has continuous distribution function Fαi (αi > 0) and the number of available observations is random and independent of the observations. We obtain the joint distribution of the record values and inter-record times for our model. We investigate the distribution of the number of records when the number of observations has one of the common distributions and the α's increase geometrically or linearly. A particularly interesting case arises when the observations arrive at time points paced by a Poisson point process. For this model we obtain distributional results for the inter-arrival times of records for a large class of combinations of α structures and intensity functions.

Abstract:
Record Linkage and Deduplication are the two process that are used in matching records. Matching of records is done to remove the duplicate records. These duplicate records highly influence the outputs of data mining and data processing. If the matching of records is done on the single database, it is called Deduplication. In Deduplication we check for the duplicate records in the single database. Unlike deduplication if the matching of the records is done on the several databases it is called as record linkage. In this paper we also discuss about the indexing technique called as traditional blocking which is used to remove non matching pairs that leads to the less number of record pair to be compared.

Abstract:
This paper presents a system called NPR (Number Plate Recognition) which is based on image processing and is used to detect the number plates of vehicles and process them to record the information. In a fast-growing world, it has become almost impossible to track illegal vehicles and store vehicle information. This is eventually leading to a rise in the crime rate, especially due to manual errors. The proposed system first captures the vehicle image and the vehicle number plate region is extracted using Image Segmentation in an image. The resulting data is then used to compare with the records on a database to come up with specific information like the vehicle's owner, place of registration, address, etc. Further, the system is implemented and simulated in MATLAB for studying feasibility and accuracy on a real image.

In 2009, a new company, SkyRiver, began offering bibliographic utility services to libraries in direct competition to OCLC’s WorldCat. This study examines the differences between the two databases in terms of hit rates, total number of records found for each title in the sample, number of non-English language records, and the presence and completeness of several elements in the most-held bibliographic record for each title. While this study discovered that the two databases had virtually the same hit rates and record fullness for the sample used—with encoding levels as the sole exception—the study results do indicate meaningful differences in the number of duplicate records and non-English-language records available in each database for recently published scholarly monographs.

339 individuals , were sorted from 22 samples collected from three sites in Tigris River including , Al- Sarafiya district (S1), Al- Jaderiyah district (S2) and Al-Za'afaraniya district (S3), in addition to one site in the irrigation canal of the Al- Jaderiyah campus of the University of Baghdad (S4) , and in Al- Jeish canal(S5) east Baghdad. The sorting results revealed that the highest number of individuals of 102 was recorded at S4, whereas the lowest number of 24 individuals was recorded at S2. Regarding the sites, site S4 was the richest site with 30% of the total number represented 16 species, while each of S3 and S5 had 8 species only with 17.11% and 28.60% of the total individuals number respectively. The values of Jaccared Similarity Index, shows that the highest similarity index of 81% was recorded between S2 & S4.Sorted Naididae worms comprised, 17 species of the subfamily Naidinae with 59% of the total number ,10 species of them are new record to Iraq, and 6 species are new records to Tigris River. Four species of the Subfamily Pristininae were identified, with a percentage of 25% of the total number, two of them are new record to Iraq, while the other two are new records to Tigris River, in addition to two species of Aeolostomatidae (Aphanoneura: Polychaeta), with16% of the total number , both of them are new records to Iraq. Nine genera were recorded , from which Nais was the most abundant genus, followed by genus Pristina. These two genera were found in all study sites. Four species of Chaetogaster were observed including, C. cristallinus; C. diastrophus; C.Limnaei and C. langi, The first two species are new record to Iraq , and they are the most abundant species within the Chaetogaster collections . Uncinais minor, Slavina appendiculata and Allonais inaequalis were three species new record to Iraq. The first species was found in S5 and, second species in S1 , while the third one was found in S1& S5 . Three species of Dero were identified, including, D.dorsalis, D. obtusa and D. digitata, the first two species are new record to Iraq , and the last one is new record to Tigris RiverTwo species of Stylaria were observed including, S. lacustris and S. fossularis. Latter species was new record to Tigris River.Regarding the genus Nais, five species were recorded, including Nais varaibilis; N . comminus; N. simplex; N. paradalis and N. elinguis; The first three species are new record to Iraq, while the last two species are new record to Tigris River.According to subfamily Pristininae, Four species of Pristina were identified, P.aequiseta, P.longiseta , P. Proboscidea , and P. foreli. The first two species were the most abundant species of Pristina . P. foreli is new record to Iraq, while the other three species were new recods to Tigris River. Finally , a number of 55 individuals of genus Aeolosoma were recorded in S5 only, with two species including A. quarternarium and Aeolosoma leidyi , The two species are new record to Iraq.According to above results, it is clear that there were 14 & 8 species new records for Iraq and Tigris River in this investigation respectively.

Abstract:
IntroductionMaternity Hospital Episode Statistics (HES) data for 2005–2014 were linked to birth registration and birth notification data (previously known as NHS Numbers for Babies or NN4B) to bring together some key demographic and clinical data items not otherwise available at a national level. The linkage algorithm that was previously used to link 2005–2007 data was revised to improve the linkage rate and reduce the number of duplicate HES records.MethodsBirth registration and notification linked records from the Office for National Statistics (‘ONS birth records’) were further linked to Maternity HES delivery and birth records using the NHS Number and other direct identifiers if the NHS Number was missing.ResultsFor the period 2005–2014, over 94% of birth registration and notification records were correctly linked to HES delivery records. Two per cent of the ONS birth records were incorrectly linked to the HES delivery record and 5% of ONS birth records were linked to more than one HES delivery record. Therefore, a considerable amount of time was spent in quality assuring these files.ConclusionThe linkage rate for birth registration and notification records to HES delivery records steadily improved from 2005 to 2014 due to improvement in the quality and completeness of patient identifiers in both HES and birth notification data.
