Abstract:
This article explores why there is a decline in the growth rate of recreational therapy while there are substantial increases in other therapy professions and recreation workers. The growth numbers of the recreational therapy profession are at a normal growth rate of 7 percent for all occupations according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). The growth rate from the Occupational Handbook for 2010-2011 projected a growth rate of 15 percent. The growth rates for occupational therapy, “therapists, all others” and recreation workers are higher than recreational therapy projected by BLS at 20 percent or higher. Possible considerations as to causes for this change in growth are proposed.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to generate an initial understanding of the types of supports or accommodations needed, as well as the barriers or challenges present when attempting to provide publicly funded, community-based social and recreational services for older adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (I/DD). Survey research was used to investigate the perceptions of case managers and recreation program providers within Health Planning Region IV in the Commonwealth of Virginia, regarding their views on the necessary supports and potential barriers encountered when older persons with I/DD attempt to access these types of programs and services. Findings suggest that both case managers and providers of recreation services perceive the following to be primary needs in providing community-based social and recreational programs for this population: recreational programs specifically designed to meet the needs of older adults with I/DD; transportation, particularly evenings and weekends; and staff adequately cross-trained in aging, disability, and recreation. Both sets of respondents shared the perception that most staff are not adequately trained in the provision of recreational services. Transportation, available during weekends and evenings when many people are engaged in recreational pursuits, is a critical support need. The promotion of purposeful recreation programming, designed with needs and desires of all older adults in mind and staffed by highly qualified recreation professionals, such as certified therapeutic recreation specialists, could go far in ensuring that these services contribute to personal growth, meaningful involvement, and quality of life.

Abstract:
The nature and tradition of campus recreational services stresses the importance of recreation staff evaluating their programs. The increasing diversity among college students and the escalating expectations of campus patrons, donors, and accrediting bodies have required campus recreation professionals to increase their foci on standards and benchmarks of practice and outcomes of services. While most campus recreation programs engage in some form of evaluation, very few have invested in the development of a comprehensive evaluation system that critically reviews program outcomes. Outcome evaluation is accomplished with careful planning and attention, similar to many other operational systems and activities such as risk management or budgeting. The result can be useful information that can position the campus recreation program for more growth as well as increased integrity across campus. The purpose of this article is to introduce the growing need for comprehensive program evaluation in campus recreational services. In addition, this article will present a case report on establishing direction for evaluation. Recommended actions by the campus recreation staff for establishing comprehensive evaluation plans are also discussed.

Abstract:
Population growth and the increasing demand for recreational opportunities have put public and political pressure on water purveyors to make every water body available for multipurpose use. There is increasing evidence that full water-body contact recreation such as swimming, and water/jet skiing may add significantly more microorganisms such as viruses, Giardia, and Cryptosporidium to a water body when compared with non-body contact recreational waters. Body-contact recreation also poses a risk to the consumer inadvertently ingesting contaminated water. Waterborne disease outbreaks caused by recreation are well documented with the endemic rate and the risk level to the public estimated to be very high. Since 1989, 171 outbreaks, associated with recreational water, have been documented in the USA with more than 15,000 individuals infected; these outbreaks occurred in both natural and artificial settings. Discussions on the recently published Long-Term 2 Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule (LT2) have focused on varied treatment goals related to microbiological quality and source water protection methods at the heart of this discussion. This paper highlights new studies on risk from recreation, proposed beach standards, modeling to assess the risk of infection, political issues associated with limiting recreation, and what water utilities can do to reduce risk.

Abstract:
A positive relationship exists between student engagement, student success, and institutional retention rates. Ethnic minority student retention rates are lower than those of the dominant culture. Campus recreation programs play a role in improving upon this situation. This study's purpose was to explore constraints to and facilitators of ethnic minority students' participation in campus recreation. Three focus groups were conducted with 22 ethnic minority students (female n = 14, male n = 8; freshman through senior year). Results revealed four constraints (i.e., organizational, lack of time, gender, cultural) to and six facilitators (i.e., social dynamics of campus recreation facilities, health maintenance, personal growth, maintaining cultural connections, facility and services, accountability) of participation. Strategies for creating more inclusive campus recreation environments and programming to increase student engagement and retention are proposed (e.g., ensuring equitable use of shared spaces, facilitating women's weight training, providing online resources, creating more structured programming, requiring cultural competence staff training, designating spaces for cultural recreational activities).

Abstract:
Against the backdrop of the constant city growth, the needs of the population for recreation are increasing. It has led to the intensive recreational use of natural landscapes. An increasing number of people are striving to meet the need for recreation outside the city limits. One of such objects for recreation is riverfront territories (coastal zones), most of which do not meet the requirements for their condition and improvement. In addition, such zones are more exposed to technogenic impact. It contributes to an increase in the degree of recreational digression of the environment and degradation of natural complexes. There is a need to regulate the forms and methods of using natural resources. It enables to develop a system for the environmentally friendly development of them, create favorable conditions for recreation, improve, maintain, and effectively use the recreational potential of the natural complex. The object of the study was the rivefront territories of the Voronezh River in the village of Dobroe, Dobrovsky district, Lipetsk region. Maximum permissible recreational loads have been calculated, the landscape indicators of the coastal territories have been analyzed with their functional recreational zoning performed to ensure the environmentally friendly use of the territory of the object of study. It is necessary to identify the principles of the structure of their recreational spaces and planning decisions in order to intensify the use of coastal territories. As a result of the research, it is planned to analyze a number of factors that influence the organization of recreational functional zones in the structure of the riverfront territories of the village of Dobroe. It enables to identify problems and the main directions for transforming the territory and revealing its potential. An assortment of plants for landscaping riverfront areas is recommended taking into account their resistance to these conditions and anthropogenic stress

Abstract:
Forested areas of Kanching Recreation Forest exposed to concentrated recreational use tend to show signs of deterioration as indicated by soil parameters related to soil compaction. The results of the present study clearly indicate that such a deterioration of soil conditions has already occurred, though not on an alarming scale. Indeed the status of these soils remains favourable, as the figures for saturated hydraulic conductivity and plant-available water are still ‘satisfactory’, or at least were so during the period of study (1989). Surface runoff and sheet-erosion in intensively-used recreational sites must not, however, be looked upon in isolation when advising on recreational forest land-management.A recent study in Kanching Forest Reserve, Malaysia, showed that recreational use of forested areas could adversely affect soil conditions. Soil bulk density and micropore space were significantly increased, but total porespace and macropore space were significantly decreased. Available water-holding capacity, saturated hydraulic conductivity, and particle-size distribution, were not significantly affected by recreational use on such sites, indicating that the status of Kanching Recreation Forest soil is still favourable for plant growth, or at least it was during the period of this study.

Abstract:
The growing demand for recreation and recreation has turned the recreational field of services into a very large sector of the economy. Market demand in the study is determined by the analysis of official statistics, the construction of time series, the assessment of the dynamics of indicators. The research was based on the methods of economic and statistical analysis, analytical substantiation of the findings, sample observation, comparison method, which allows to determine the differences or commonality of the object with an analog. The article analyzes the market demand for the main types of recreational services: hotel, tourist, Spa. Conclusions are drawn about the growing demand for recreational services. In the sanatorium-resort complex, the number of organizations is reduced at the expense of sanatoriums and children's sanatoriums, but this does not affect their capacity, characterized by positive dynamics. In terms of the volume of services per consumer, the steady leaders were hotel and tourist services, in the direction of the sanatorium-resort complex there is a trend of growth in the number of treated (vacationers), which indicates an increase in the efficiency of the use of the capacity of the bed capacity. Stimulating the development of the market in the recreational field of services and improving the competitiveness of recreational services can improve the state of the economy, in particular, increase the inflow of foreign capital, GDP growth, increase the number of job vacancies.

Campus recreation assessment is an essential component for providing the finest programs, services, facilities, and equipment to the campus community. The assessment process becomes manageable and less intimidating once simplified. The author recommends the use of an assessment model that includes the department mission, vision, and values, along with program, facility, management, and operations goals and objectives. Included in the assessment process is feedback from a diverse group of people such as participants, nonparticipants, programmers, administration, and external evaluators. An essential component of the process is the collection of learning outcomes data from participants, which provides evidence of the unique learning that takes place within campus recreation programs. The results from the assessment process should assist the strategic plan review and drive decision making. Finally, results need to be shared for “impact” purposes to promote campus recreation, expand programs, advocate for facility growth, and motivate participants.

Abstract:
This Special Issue addresses the intersections of outdoor recreation, nature-based tourism, and sustainability. Outdoor recreation and nature-based tourism provide essential benefits to individuals, communities, and society and thereby contribute to sustainability. Equitable provision of opportunities, cultural variations in desired experiences, barriers to outdoor recreation, and diverse perceptions of both nature and recreation add to the complexity in outdoor recreation and nature-based tourism service delivery. Outdoor recreation and nature-based tourism occur within a socioecological system with feedback loops to changing social, economic, technological, and ecological conditions. On a global scale, climate change and other disturbance factors are impacting ecosystems and opportunities, increasing the importance of adaptation strategies for longer-term planning. Population growth and regional shifts in demographics and distribution (e.g., urbanization), as well as socioeconomic trends, affect who engages in outdoor recreation and nature-based tourism, opportunities sought, nature access, and governance of outdoor services. Overall the complexity of sustainable outdoor recreation and tourism may suggest a need for different approaches to service delivery, culture change among service providers and managers of natural spaces, and novel approaches to inclusive governance and shared stewardship. Given the clear importance of outdoor recreation and nature-based tourism to society, we invite you to consider this initial introduction to our assembled collection, which is meant to advance our understanding of the intersections of outdoor recreation, nature-based tourism, and sustainability.

Abstract:
The paper evaluates the development capacity of the tourism and recreation industry in Ukrainian regions and analyzes its attractiveness. The results of the calculation of the integral attractiveness index for the tourism and recreation industry in Ukrainian regions for 2013 and 2018 are outlined. The values of subindices in the total attractiveness index rate for the tourism and recreation industry in Ukrainian regions are calculated. The structure of capital investment in the tourism and recreation industry of Ukraine across its regions is characterized. The factors of impact on forming of the development capacity of the tourism and recreation industry in Ukrainian regions are revealed and systematized. The analysis of calculation of the integral ATRI index for Ukrainian regions in 2018 resulted in revealing the following features of regional tourism and recreation systems: 1) indisputable domination of Kyiv not only by the level of integral ATRI index across Ukrainian regions but also by 8 out of its 19 main features, testifying to availability of the balanced set of competitive advantages that allow maximum efficient use of tourism and recreation capacity without unique natural tourism and recreation resources and support attractiveness of the tourism and recreation complex at consistently high level; 2) availability of three powerful regions with the highest attractiveness level of their tourism and recreation systems after Kyiv; 3) active growth of attractiveness of the tourism and recreation industry of catching-up regions; 4) substantial group of regions (9) with unbalanced and often limited set of the tourism and recreation resources and low quality of socio-economic and tourism infrastructure, which affects the investment attractiveness of their tourism and recreation system and the overall level of their attractiveness.

Abstract:
Outstanding student employees are essential for campus recreation programs to achieve organizational goals. To that end, this study examined the effectiveness of a leadership development program in which three groups of campus recreation (rec sports) student employees participated at various levels in the following: on-campus training, an off-site retreat, a scavenger hunt, and biweekly meetings. Using a quasi-experimental design, data were collected in two phases from 51 students and measured the growth of each student's leadership capabilities as reported using the Student Leadership Practices Inventory. Statistical analyses revealed that group membership did significantly affect growth in the student's leadership capacity, F(2, 48) = 7.07, p = .002, η2 = .228. Campus recreation programs are increasingly held accountable and rec sports professionals must understand assessment is vital. The results of this study reveal that rec sports professionals can impact the development of student leaders. Specifcally, the findings indicate that growth does not occur with condensed training. Indeed lasting, meaningful growth transpires only when leadership lessons are embedded using a sustained approach. Implications for research and practice are presented.

Abstract:
The purpose of the article is to highlight the problem of using the potential of local territory in the processes of promoting local uniqueness as a consumer product. This study aimed at analysis and appraisal of the recreational resources of Kaniv for the organization of recreational activities in the planning strategies of the city as a recreational and tourist center. The study of the entire set of recreational resources of the city resulted in a constructive analysis and evaluation of the recreational benefits of the city’s resources. In the course of the survey, the directions of recreational environmental management in the city were determined in accordance with the programme of development of small Ukrainian cities. The analysis and assessment of the territory’s resources was conducted using integrated methodologies of studying recreational assets that take into account the evaluation methods of medical geography, recreology etc. Our study found that geomorphological, climatic, water, biotic, and landscape recreational natural resources are significant for the organization of recreational activity in the city and which, according to the estimation of recreational favourability, are highly conducive and convenient for both winter and summer recreation. A number of indicators of natural resources are of high value for the treatment and prevention of a wide range of diseases, including problems with respiratory, cardiovascular, nervous systems. The development of recreation and tourism in the city is also influenced by the existing historical and cultural resources, which include a whole set of archaeological, architectural and historical monuments, ethnographic features and crafts, museums and exhibitions, places and areas of significant events, places of life and creativity for prominent personalities, heroes and figures, etc. The socioeconomic resources and infrastructure of the city have a significant impact on the functioning of the recreational affairs, such as the state of the existing and prospective territorial organization, transport accessibility and level of its development, the public service and its condition (food establishments, residence, etc.). Nowadays, Kaniv is characterized by partly lower indicators of socio-economic development, business activity and, at the same time, enjoys a powerful natural, recreational and tourist, historical and cultural potential. Development of recreational and tourist activity in the city should be considered as a tool for increasing economic indicators (employment, business activity and growth of its financial indicators) and improvement of demographic indicators (reduction of labour migration, etc.), etc. The natural and cultural heritage of Kaniv is a source of socio-economic and human development through the integration of cultural monuments into the national tourist network. This can be achieved through the creation of new museum programmes, the development of a network of establishments based on authentic cuisine, traditional interiors, etc. It can further be promoted through creation of a network of ecological trails and routes which give access to the area’s unique natural ecosystems. Recreation and tourist activity can also be encouraged through popularization of environmental affairs, creation of programmes for development of the resort business, programmes of family recreation, development of different types of water, hiking, educational (culture, events, research, etc.) and eco-tourism, and the development of programmes and events in the field of sport fishing and hunting.

Abstract:
The Sacramento California Region has long enjoyed ample water supplies and popular rivers providing esthetic, recreation and environmental resources. Ground and surface water supplies have been managed by twenty independent management agencies. In the 1980s and 1990s the region experienced dramatic population growth and increased water demand. Environmental organizations sought to preserve the environmental values of the Lower American River. Six years of negotiation resulted in the Water Forum Agreement, a memorandum of understanding signed by business and agricultural leaders, citizens groups, environmentalists, water managers, and local governments to fulfill two co-equal objectives: (i) to provide a reliable and safe water supply for the region's economic health and planned development to the year 2030; and (ii) to preserve the fishery, wildlife, recreational, and aesthetic values of the Lower American River. This paper describes three major parameters guiding the water future of the Sacramento Region, which may be a model for other regions of the world: (1) the seven policy elements of the Water Forum Agreement; (2) the Regional Water Authority (RWA) and the Sacramento Groundwater Authority help to implement the policies of the Water Forum Agreement; (3) RWA's regional water efficiency program provides “pick and choose” water efficiency measures to twenty water suppliers in three counties.

Abstract:
Effects of climate change in The Netherlands in the 21st century on the microbiological quality of water for drinking water production and recreation were evaluated. The following was concluded: increased temperature leads to significant additional inactivation of enteric pathogens in surface waters with residence times of more than a month, but not in waters with residence times of up to ten days. Increased precipitation, runoff and storm water overflow lead to more peak concentrations of waterborne pathogens in surface water. Peak concentrations strongly determine the infection risk through drinking water consumption. Drought lowers and increased precipitation elevates groundwater tables, but an effect on the risk of groundwater contamination with waterborne pathogens is not clear. Climate effects are not noticeable near a groundwater well, where the groundwater table and flow rate are mainly determined by the pumping rate. Exposure of recreants to waterborne pathogens that can grow in the water is expected to increase due to increased recreation and increased growth opportunities of these pathogens. Due to warmer summers, pathogens, like amoeba, that have not caused problems up to date in The Netherlands, may now emerge in recreational waters.

Abstract:
Seabird colonies often constitute valuable tourist attractions. Different species differ in their sensitivity to human disturbance and, although birds may habituate to visitors, inappropriate intrusions at poorly managed sites may result in adverse effects on breeding individuals. The rapid growth of wildlife-based tourism and recreation in coastal Patagonia, Argentina, presents opportunities for significant economic benefits but also raises concerns about the potential effects on seabird colonies. Sixteen seabird species breed along the Patagonian coast, with Magellanic Penguin Spheniscus magellanicus being one of the main tourist attractions. At least 27 sites where seabirds breed are currently visited by people either through organized tourism or for recreational purposes, 19 of which are included in coastal protected areas. The number of visitors per year varies from 50 to more than 100,000, depending on the site. Negative effects on seabird reproduction in Patagonia are through direct destruction of nests or their contents and desertion of offspring, particularly at locations where seabirds nest in association with or near to colonies of avian predators. Tourism and recreation activities are growing in extent and intensity at most coastal sectors in Patagonia. Current trends in coastal recreation activities may result in negative effects on breeding seabirds unless management guidelines are developed and enforced. Information shows that tourism in coastal Patagonia is compatible with seabird conservation if appropriately managed. Given the rapid increase in the interest in visiting seabird colonies in Patagonia, several management tools such as sanctuaries, the limitation of visitor numbers and both temporal and spatial zoning, need to be implemented in the short term.

Abstract:
The existing disadvantages of the system of recreational development of the natural-resource base of the Carpathian macroregion require adequate measures, development of new mechanisms for rationalization of the use of recreational resources. First of all, it concerns the definition of goals, objectives and ways of implementing an innovative product as a strategic direction of economic development of recreational potential. The article examines the market conditions for the establishment and functioning of the recreation and health industry. Strategic directions for improving the system of economic and environmental decision-making on the principles of sustainable development have been identified. The authors set the priority components of innovative support for the development of the recreational economy. The basic principles of formation of strategy of ecologically oriented diversification of the market of recreational product in the Carpathian macroregion are offered, according to which the main goals of diversification of the studied market should be aimed at the conservation of natural components as the basis of resource potential, as well as ensuring the economic feasibility of diversification. The defined goal includes the search for rational resource alternatives, the efficient use of scarce resources, the spatial expansion of the market, the utilization of new production facilities and the provision of conditions for sustainability in the market. The article substantiates the feasibility and basic directions of application of cluster mechanisms in the investigated sphere, since organized interaction between the cluster subjects on the basis of separately created cluster programs can ensure social-economic growth and ecological safety of the recreational sphere. For optimal interaction between the subjects of ecological-oriented recreational clusters, in addition to economic mechanisms, innovative provision also requires a management and control system. Such an innovative product can be a controlling system. The relevant system significantly expands the organizational and institutional field of regulation of the process of the investigated resources reproduction, as it combines a number of components for planning and management of the recreational sphere development.

Abstract:
In this article, a mechanism supporting the existence of an inverted u-shaped relation between the number of public holidays and the growth of an economy is presented. The nonlinear relationship is originated by two forces within a Schumpeterian economy: On the one hand, as the number of public holidays grows, the total number of workers searching for innovation increases; on the other hand, as the number of days of recreation increases, the number of working days producing innovations decreases. The combination of these two forces generates the inverted u-shaped relationship. The hypothesized mechanism suggests the existence of an optimal number of public holidays for an economy.

Abstract:
This paper explores the influence of demographic and spatial variables on individual participation and consumption of wildland area recreation. Data from the National Survey on Recreation and the Environment are combined with geographical information system-based distance measures to develop nonlinear regression models used to predict both participation and the number of days of participation in wilderness and primitive area recreation. The estimated models corroborate previous findings indicating that race (black), ethnicity (Hispanic), immigrant status, age, and urban dwelling are negatively correlated with wildland visitation, while income, gender (male), and education positively affect wild-land recreation participation and use. The presence of a distance or proximity factor mitigates some of the influence of race and ethnicity. The results of the cross-sectional models are combined with U.S. Census projections of total population, changes in population characteristics, and estimates of current National Forest Wilderness visitation estimates to give some insight into pressure that might be expected on the nation's designated wilderness during the next half century. Results generally indicate that per-capita participation and visitation rates will decline over time as society changes. Total wilderness participation and visitation will, however, increase, but at a rate less than population growth.

Abstract:
Nowadays we observe a rapid growth of various new and actively developing facilities for winter sports and recreation. This paper is aimed at analyzing the structure of these facilities and establishing the dependence of their public popularity on the design, technology, environmental and economic efficiency. The main research methods are monitoring of the chosen facilities, data collection and summarizing, classifying and description. The key procedures and results include on-site investigations of the facilities, sociological surveys of their popularity, definition of the factors that hamper their development, working out and testing a mathematical model of climatic influence on attendance. It is shown that despite the growing demand for new sports and recreational centers, most Russian cities do not have the necessary natural conditions (elevations, complex relief) to satisfy the requirements of the contemporary winter sports enthusiasts. To meet this demand, artificial constructions for mountain and cross-country skiing, snowboarding, tubing and skating are set in parks, residential areas and on specially designated territories. In building theses facilities, various designs, constructions and technologies are used, which are considered in detail in this paper. We provide examples of successful recreational centers on artificially engineered reliefs well-blended with the Moscow urban area. We make a conclusion about the advantages of constructing new facilities and the necessity to fit them harmoniously into the existing natural and man-made environment. Temporary constructions for sports and recreation have minimal impact on the environment. At the same time, they give room for experimenting with forms, materials, technologies; they are flexible, mobile and relevant for cities. We characterize such facilities as nature-and-technology compatible systems. Our findings can be useful for specialists in urban planning and development, ecology, sociology, economics, sports and recreational management.

Abstract:
The article discusses topical issues regarding the leisure industry in Ukraine and abroad in order to identify key problems and prospects for its development. In the course of the study, market conditions were analyzed; the requirements of consumers for services in the field of organization of recreation and entertainment are defined; the factors influencing the development and efficient operation of the market are examined. According to the results of the study, it is substantiated that the rapid growth of the entertainment industry, both in the world and in Ukraine, is due to a positive trend to improve the quality of rest and personal development of the population. It is determined that the main problem of the entertainment industry in Ukraine is that its financing is carried out with the industry’s own funds. Instead, in many foreign countries, the entertainment industry is developing with the help of foreign investment and public funds. The peculiarities and problems of development of the international recreation and entertainment market are analyzed and it is established that in the world in the period 2006-2019 was a steady dynamic of the popularity of requests for «entertainment organization». This dynamic indicates the constant development of the entertainment market with slight seasonal fluctuations in the winter and spring months of the year. It is also identified that the recreation and entertainment market is dominated by a group of eight participants: China, Brazil, India, Russia, the Middle East and North Africa, Mexico, Indonesia, and Argentina. The average annual growth rate of the entertainment market in these countries is more than twice the growth rate of the global entertainment market. For a more complete and detailed analysis of the international recreation and entertainment market, a rating of agencies that are leaders in the global market of the analyzed services was composed. Conclusions on key problems and prospects of development of entertainment industry in Ukraine and abroad are formulated.

Research is an essential component of university recreational sports (URS) because it is needed to scientifically test interventions, defend departmental existence, and to align for further departmental growth. Current data is important documented criteria needed to substantiate an increased operating budget, to justify adding personnel, and to validate the need for additional facilities. However, very few URS professionals conduct and report research. A four-part survey was designed by the investigators to explore the barriers to conducting research, publishing, and presenting. Items were generated through the use of focus groups with college recreational sport staff. While perceived lack of time was consistently cited as a barrier to conducting research, generating publications, and preparing presentations, the study illuminates a number of potential hurdles to creating and maintaining a research culture. In light of these findings, departments of college recreation should be encouraged to examine their organizations and determine the extent to which they enhance or impede research. Finally, it is important to build research capacity within the NIRSA profession to ensure that college recreational sports run efficiently and that professionals can document outcomes, can test new interventions, and evaluate new ways of doing business.

Abstract:
The development of domestic tourism in the eastern regions of the Russian Federation is based on visiting the most popular places of recreation: beautiful landscapes, rivers and lakes, mineral springs, including in protected natural areas (PNA). Increased mobility of the population leads to increased recreational flows, and as a result, a multiple increase in recreational loads on natural objects and landscapes of protected areas. The potential for long-term sustainable use of such territories should be regularly assessed. The purpose of the study is to assess the recreational impact on natural complexes and develop recommendations for reducing the anthropogenic load in the Park «Arey» in the Transbaikal territory. In September 2019, diagnostic studies of the state of the recreation area of the Park were conducted, which included landscape studies at key sites . The works were carried out using the route-reconnaissance method. The key sites were selected based on the types of natural and territorial complexes that lead to the lake shore. To assess the degradation of biocomplexes in key areas, we determined the terrain features, the stage of recreational forest degradation, and the floral composition. According to expert estimates, an average of 30 thousand people visit the Park annually, mainly in the period from June to September. The season of intensive recreational activity is short — 45–50 days. The maximum load is observed from 5 to 25 July. The Park was created in 2013. The Directorate of the Park «Arey» partially improved the recreational area and restricted vehicle access to the Northern shore of the lake and to the coastal zone. This generally had a positive impact on the landscape and aesthetic condition of the territory, it was noted: 1) reduction of the number of campfires on the entire coast; 2) reduction of the number of felled and damaged trees; 3) overgrowing of clearings with the growth of trees and shrubs, outside the places of concentration of recreants. At the same time, the most vulnerable and affected areas of the coast were identified. The most noticeable deterioration of ecosystems is in the southern and south-western sections of the recreational zone. The territory is characterized by the V stage of forest digression; the territories of the «Kristall base» are at the IV stage of digression, and the rest of the coast is characterized mainly by the III stage. In General, the recreational use of the southern coast of lake Ares exceeds the potential for restoration of natural complexes, where not only the vegetation cover, but also the soil has undergone significant changes. Here you can expect rapid degradation and death of woody vegetation, which will lead to increased erosion of sandy soils and change the overall appearance of the landscape. It is necessary to note the problem for the territory of the Park — the state of the territories where recreation centers and campsites are located does not meet sanitary standards Based on the results obtained, recommendations were developed to reduce the degree of anthropogenic impact on natural complexes. It is necessary to make a number of management and planning decisions: the formation of a road and path network, the concentration of visitors in equipped places, the organization of attendance records, and the updating of sanitary and hygienic infrastructure. The combined development of recreational and environmental activities is a key element in the organization of the Park. The condition for achieving both goals will be to improve the infrastructure of the recreational area

Abstract:
Development of the health resort activities on the territory of Sverdlovsk region - an important and controversial factor, which is reflected in low rates and current problems of development. They are connected with the development peculiarities of the region, natural conditions, and availability of federal and regional programs. Necessity for the organization of health resort activities related to its significant impact on the social and economic situation of the region. Sverdlovsk region is an industrial urban area that, apart from the advantages, creates certain problems for the population. These include health deterioration, increasing of mortality and morbidity, reducing of natural population growth, deterioration of health, which leads to a reduction of the rate of economic development. That is why the region needs to organize health resort activity. Recreational potential of Sverdlovsk region is considered to be healthy, and it is caused by a boundary position of the region in Europe and Asia, political stability, which guarantees the security of any type of tourist activity. In addition, the high cultural and historical heritage of the area determines the long-term development of tourism in general. Nevertheless, the author of the article notes the presence of a significant number of problems, such as the need for recreational activities in urban and industrialized territories, but civil and industrial development area limit the possibility of recreation. Load regulation system on the natural systems of certain recreation areas is absent, and it causes a significant increasing of load and violation of the integrity of ecosystems. Low development of transport infrastructure and insufficient quality of personnel training creates problems for the future development of the market of heath resort services

Abstract:
In this study, average and marginal approaches for determining optimal preservation of primary forests on British Columbia's coast are compared. When the market values from timber, mushrooms, etc., and nonmarket benefits (e.g., carbon sink, preservation values) of preserving old-growth forests are considered (where the opportunity cost of preserving such forests are the benefits of commercial forestry foregone), the average method recommends harvest of all remaining old growth. For the marginal approach, a deterministic optimal control model is solved to compute socially optimal stocks of old growth. In this case, the numerical results indicate that large-scale conversion of old-growth forests cannot be justified on economic grounds.

Abstract:
At Glen Canyon National Recreation Area (GCNRA) a number of disturbed sites require revegetation for aesthetic reasons and to maintain their natural appearace as part of the setting expected of a National Park or Recreation Area. Old road ways, decommissioned service areas, construction sites and bare areas characterize such sites. The purpose of thie project is (1) to conduct a literature review of revegetation reports pertinent to the climate and conditions of GCNRA and, (2) to extabllish two revegetation study areas at sites selected in consultation with NPS. Revegetation is necessary for functional reasons: 1) to prevent soil erosion and maintain or support the ecological balance of functioning ecosystems adjacent to the disturbed areas, and 2) to restore natural functions such as nutrient cycling, hydrology, soil stability and plant growth of the sites. Two of these sites were chosen as the location for revegetation tests.
