Abstract:
This paper examined the recreational needs of the user population in South-eastern Nigeria. The study considered educational status, public awareness, degree of awareness, public recreational options, extant open space services, and reasons for low usage of available recreational facilities. The study was carried out using descriptive statistics, use of weights and relative mean scare analysis. The study showed a general loss of interest in the available public recreational facilities and services, thus leading to disregard of public recreational open spaces. This fact prompts a high rate of conversion of public recreational spaces in South-Eastern Nigeria for other uses. There is therefore the need to provoke users’ interest through classical advertisements, posting of bills and publication in both local and national dailies, particularly on the implication of converting recreational spaces in the areas being advertised. This calls for the need for public enlightenment plans in the likes of orientation programs, seminars, symposiums, recreation outreach courses and educating the masses at various levels, on the need to recreate and participate actively on public open space activities. Keywords: Recreation, open space services, public recreation, users, recreational facilities.

Abstract:
Methods of geoinformation analysis and geomodelling are used for the implementation of urban zoning. Recreational land use is a complex spatial system. The main task of recreational areas is to restore the strength and health of the population. Recreational areas consist of climatic, engineering and technical elements. Currently, creative and adaptive recreation is developing. These types of recreation fill the deficit of traditional recreational areas. The decrease in recreational areas is due to the construction of buildings. Recreational areas lose their natural properties. The financing of recreational infrastructure is reduced. In the article the geoinformation analysis of recreational provision of the city of Novosibirsk is executed. An original method of constructing a network of evaluation blocks is proposed. The analysis of the spatial location of residential and transport infrastructure. Information on the population and area of recreational facilities was used to calculate the recreational provision. As a result of geoinformation analysis it was found that 26% of the city residents are provided with recreational areas. 73% of residents do not have recreational facilities near the house.

Abstract:
The study's purpose was to identify and examine two main areas: the risk management practices and documents being used by recreation directors of state-of-the-art multimillion dollar recreational facilities and the number of lawsuits, settlements, and accidents. Due to the large amount of financial and legal risk exposure at these facilities, it is assumed that the facility directors would implement and rate as either important or very important the five elements of a bona fide risk management program: Surveys were distributed to recreational directors in senior colleges and universities throughout the US. The sample frame was listing in the National Intramural Recreational Sports Association Facilities of Distinction, Volumes, I, II, and III, and college and university facilities listed in “State of the Art Facilities” in Athletic Business ( N = 65). These institutions typically offer a wide range of recreational programs and have large recreational facilities that are either purpose-built or shared. A total of 35 recreational directors responded, a 54% return rate. The findings suggest that: (a) the importance of risk management practices has reached the university administration, (b) recreational directors are implementing risk management plans, (c) recreational directors are creating their own risk management manuals, and (d) the ACSM and the NIRSA documents are the two publications most commonly used by recreational directors to assist them in creating their risk management manuals.

Abstract:
The importance of recreation cannot be overemphasised. Recreation refers to an activity that people engage in during their free time, and it is socially-inclined and has attendant values. Inaccessibility to recreational areas affects the social wellbeing of residents, who will not have a sense of belonging when it comes to community development, hence a response to Covid-19. Taking Greater Jos (Nigeria) as a case study, this paper assesses the social factors with regard to the provision of recreational facilities. The study also identified and mapped out recreational areas using the geographical positioning system. A questionnaire survey was conducted amongst the residents, age fifteen and above to authentically gauge their opinions on the study and, adopting stratified-random sampling considering the ten sectors according to the Greater Jos Master Plan. Results revealed that the residents had a good level of awareness of the presence of recreational facilities and high-quality recreational facilities, which were found mostly within the core of the city. The facilities fostered a high level of family and community bonding. However, the distance of recreational activity areas from their place of residence was what was rather disappointing for most people. Thus, the recent Covid-19 pandemic demand of social distancing negates social inclusion. The emphasis on social orientation and effective social inclusion of disadvantaged groups was conspicuously pronounced. Thus, appropriate and easy access to recreational facilities for all genders and ages must be provided closer to the people for effective services to promote their social lives and weaken the Covid-19 repulsive protocol.

Abstract:
Problem. Currently, many roads and their infrastructure have been severely damaged by hostilities. In the post-war development of Ukraine, especially transport infrastructure, much attention should be paid to the restoration and construction of recreational facilities in roadside areas to ensure short-term and long-term recreation of drivers and passengers. Not many studies have been devoted to the problems of providing tourist and recreational potential with transport and recreational infrastructure in Ukraine. Basically, researchers pay attention to the characteristics of the transport complex of Ukraine in terms of the development of the roads themselves. Thus, it is necessary to determine the principles of selection of territories for the development of recreational facilities along highways in the restoration and development of post-war Ukraine. Goal. The aim of the work is to develop criteria and principles for assessing roadside areas in terms of the need and possibility of locating tourist and recreational infrastructure. Methodology. Analytical research methods were used to determine the approaches of foreign countries to the location of tourist and recreational facilities on highways. Determining the most attractive roadside areas for tourist and recreational infrastructure is based on the developed criteria and methodological approach to scoring the requirements of vacationers. Results. The main highways, which are tourist and recreational routes for Ukrainian and foreign vacationers, are characterized. The tourist and recreational infrastructure and its influence on the development of recreational business in the state are determined. The principles of location of recreational facilities in roadside areas abroad are analyzed. Recreational requirements of traveling tourists are revealed. Criteria and principles for assessing roadside areas for the construction of recreational facilities have been developed. Originality. Criteria and methodological approach for assessing the most attractive roadside areas for tourist and recreational infrastructure have been developed. The main priorities are suggested that should be the basis of tourism and recreation policy of the state in the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine. Practical value. The use of the proposed methodological approach to determining the most attractive areas for the construction of tourist and recreational infrastructure will help avoid chaotic construction of roadside space and unmotivated alienation of agricultural land.

Abstract:
Recreation is essential to human life, but the facilities are in short supply. This paper examines the distribution of recreational facilities concerning policies and strategies in Greater Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria. The data were drawn from the study utilizing Multiple methods - integrated qualitative and quantitative analysis. The qualitative method employs ArcGIS software to determine the distribution of various recreational activity areas. For the quantitative method, a field questionnaire survey was conducted to collect data within the ten sectors of the study area using a simple random sampling, and the data were analysed descriptively using the SPSS software. The study found out that the distribution of the recreational facilities is not according to the policy of a neighbourhood, lacks appropriateness, insufficient to meet the population threshold. This affects the distance journey to recreation and deprives them of the desire for social integration. The study focused on the Greater Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria, reflecting a specific developing country with attendant inadequate facilities and services. The paper discussed the distribution as it affects the ten (10) zoning/sectors of the Greater Jos. Based on the problems mentioned above, suggestions were proffered towards observing maximum adherence to the implementation of policies and strategies that would help in achieving equity and adequate distribution of recreational facilities globally, especially in Greater Jos, Nigeria.

Abstract:
The article analyses the current state of recreational facilities in the mountainous area of Stara Huta in Ivano-Frankivsk region. In this region, the sights to attract tourists were identified, the area SWOT-analysis was developed and perspective directions of recreational tourism development were worked out. Urgency of the research is based on development of tourism in mountainous areas of Ukraine. More and more often, city dwellers are "escaping" from the hustle and bustle of the city and looking for a comfortable place to relax in the mountains. The village of Stara Huta is one of these beautiful spots, where you can stay for a while with your family and friends. Today there is a hotel, a presidential residence and many private recreational facilities. Motorbike races are held every year in the mountainous area. There is an abandoned sanatorium in the village, which, given various sources, may soon house a rehabilitation centre for ATO soldiers. The area is characterised by considerable natural recreational potential and has all the prerequisites for tourism and recreation development, so it requires a comprehensive study. The project proposals for new recreational complexes can be represented by student projects performed under the author's supervision. New recreational facilities and new types of recreation will increase competitiveness and provide new jobs for the local population.

Abstract:
Recreation has several benefits, one of which is the health advantage that it brings to those who engage in it. Apart from being beneficial to health, one of the other benefits is in connection with good academic performance that it stimulates. This study focused on three selected public universities in Ondo State, Nigeria. It investigates the availability of recreational facilities, students' level of participation in recreational activities, and hindrances to students’ recreational participation in the selected universities. A purposive sample of 300 students was adopted and disaggregated into 106, 139 and 55 for the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), and Ondo State University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa (OSUSTECH) respectively, using the relative population of students in the three universities. Data acquisition instruments included a questionnaire, interview and observation. The questionnaire administration involved a multi-stage sampling procedure that cumulated in obtaining data from the final-year students of each university's faculties and departments. Findings revealed that students' participation in recreation was at low ebb in the three universities with varying degrees of hindrances to participation across the institutions. Poor or absent facilities were the most dominant hindrance to recreation. The worst case was in OSUSTECH where the school authority did not provide any recreational facility on campus. Recommendations include sensitization programs to enlighten students on the need for recreation and the benefits of same to their health and educational pursuit; and upscaling of recreational facilities in the studied institutions.

Abstract:
Background:We examined the relationship between parents’ perception of neighborhood safety and children’s physical activity and use of recreation facilities in a US nationally representative sample of fifth grade children. Methods:We used data from the Early Childhood Longitudinal Study Kindergarten cohort, fifth grade sample (N = 9827). Multivariate logistic and linear regression models were used to examine associations between parents’ perception of neighborhood safety for outside play and number of days children engage in physical activity, as well as children’s use of recreational facilities for physical activity. Results:Children who used recreational facilities engaged in physical activity on more days of the week compared with children who did not use a facility (3.3 days vs. 3.8 days, P < .0001). Children from neighborhoods perceived as unsafe by parents engaged in almost 1 less day per week in physical activity (β = –.89, P < .0001). Children from neighborhoods perceived as unsafe were less likely to use recreational facilities compared with children from neighborhoods perceived as safe (odds ratio = 0.72, P < .0001). Children from less affluent families across rural and urban areas had half the odds of using recreational facilities compared with children from the wealthiest families living in urban areas. Conclusions:Parents’ perception of neighborhood safety for outside play can deter or promote children’s physical activity and use of recreational facilities. Children from less affluent families are less likely to use facilities than children from wealthy families, regardless of place of residence.

Abstract:
Aim: Increasing recreational demands primarily depends on eliminating the factors that prevent people from participating in recreational activities . recreation demand depends on the planning of recreational activities by the administration and the development of recreational areas , starting from the choice of recreational activities on line with the leisure time demands of individuals . The main purpose of this study is to determine the recreational demands of middle-aged and older individuals residing in Kahramanmaras, the factors that prevent their participation in recreational activities and the factors that should be considered during the development of recreation areas in Kahramanmaraş and the construction of new recreation areas. Methods: In the research within the scope of the study , the leisure time barriers scale was applied in the recreation areas in Kahramanmaraş and the data collected from 600 volunteer participants were analyzed using the SPSS 21 program. Results: According to to the results of the research, it was determined that the first of the leisure time inhibitors that prevent the recreational demands of the upper middle individuals is the Lack of Knowledge sub-dimension. The sub-dimension of lack of information is followed by the psychology of the individual, lack of interest, lack of facilities, time and friends sub-dimensions, respectively. Conclusion: Across the scale of leisure barriers , it was determined that the leisure time barriers perceptions of the participants did not differ statistically significantly according to to their gender , marital status and income groups . It is seen that the perceptions of leisure time barriers of individuals over middle age differ statistically significantly according to the age groups, level of education and working status. Abstract:
Sustainability is a hot topic in higher education. Buzz words such as green and renewable have helped brand modern environmentalism. A greater emphasis on facility planning, development, and management is contributing to sustainability efforts. Collegiate recreational sports programs often include facilities that pose a challenge to the green movement, due to their size and operational requirements. To identify efforts within the collegiate recreational sports industry, this study focused on assessing the state of facility sustainability. The purpose of this study was to assess levels of institutional adoption related to sustainable initiatives at collegiate recreational sports facilities. This foundational study attempted to create some benchmark data for the collegiate recreation industry within the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA). The Collegiate Recreational Sports Sustainability Survey was developed to assess the variables in the study and was sent to directors of NIRSA member institutions. This study used quantitative research methods and produced primarily descriptive research. This research produced a number of key findings: institutions that led in adoption levels per their respective category type were two-year public institutions, large enrollment institutions, institutions from NIRSA Region VI, and institutions that contain large collegiate recreational sports facilities. In addition, significant differences in adoption levels existed between four-year public and four-year private institutions, between large and small enrollment institutions, and between institutions that had large and small facilities. Implications from this study include providing benchmark data, creating advisory committees, and modeling NIRSA Region VI institutions. This study establishes a foundation for further research on sustainability efforts in collegiate recreational sports.

Abstract:
Abuja Master Plan provided development of adequate Green Areas and other Recreational Facilities within the Federal Capital City (FCC), as part of its sustainability principles and provided for these recreational facilities within each neighborhood (FCDA, 1979). However, there have been several recent foul cries about the negative development of recreational facilities and the abuse of the Master Plan in the FCC. The motivation for carrying out this study arose from the observation that recreational facilities in Phase 1 of the Federal Capital City Abuja are not clearly developed as intended by the policy makers and thus, the need to identify the recreational facilities in the Phase 1 of FCC and observe their level of development as well as usage. The field survey revealed that the Central Business District and Gazupe have higher numbers of recreational facilities with 45 and 56. While Wuse II (A08) and Wuse II (A07) Districts have lesser recreational facilities with 10 and 17. The field survey further revealed that all the districts in Phase 1 have over 35% cases of land use changes from recreational facilities to other use. The survey shows that over 65% of these recreational facilities are fully developed. The study also shows that just about 11% of the recreational sporting facilities were developed in line with the Abuja Master Plan in Phase 1. The study revealed that recreational facilities in Phase 1 of the FCC, Abuja has not being developed in compliance with the Abuja Master Plan.

The building analyzed in this study is a new student recreation center at a major university. The primary objective of the study was to create design guidelines for recreational facilities that would be useful to sports personnel and architects. Secondly, because the facility is being used as a model for other new facilities, the researchers believe that its successes and shortcomings should be identified. A third objective of this research is to provide a research format that recreational sports personnel can use to evaluate new facilities, or evaluate old facilities in order to justify new construction. The research methods implemented in this study were interviews, observation, behavioral mapping, and questionnaires. Issue-oriented questions were analyzed to address design features such as building organization and finishes. Behavior mapping studies were analyzed to study the ability to supervise the facility. In general, the facility was well received. Design shortcomings, however, included lack of signage, and problems with temperature control, and inappropriate materials selection. Recommended guidelines for recreational facilities are provided.

Abstract:
Abstract This paper focuses on the market segmentation of recreational forest services using the concept of ‘sensation seeking’ for describing recreational expectations of town dwellers. The physical activity of town dwellers from the urban agglomeration of Białystok and the Knyszyn Forest (North-Eastern Poland) during outdoor recreation was analysed using this concept. The results of this research suggest that less than thirty percent of inhabitants of the Białystok agglomeration tend to be physically active during outdoor recreation. This is evidence of a low level of physical culture within the part of the society analysed in this study. Amongst all participants, only seven percent use the Knyszyn Forest for recreational purposes based on physical activity. The limited interest in active recreation in forests that we observed can be attributed to two main causes: 1) the lack of acceptance of a closed forest landscape as a recreational area; 2) the lack of recreational facilities in the Knyszyn Forest that would encourage healthy behaviour during active outdoor recreation.

Abstract:
The improvement of the quality of urban parks plays a vital role in the construction and development of urban society. This study examined the factors influencing recreational satisfaction with urban parks, providing a reference for measures to improve the quality of urban parks. Based on the theory of “Homo Urbanicus”, we conducted a factor analysis of recreation satisfaction with urban parks and constructed a structural equation model. It can be seen from the analysis results produced by the causal model that “supporting facilities” and “functional facilities” have the highest contributions to the factor load of the model, which indicates that individual recreational satisfaction with urban parks is mainly based on the relationship between individuals and space conditions. In other words, these elements are necessary to meet the requirement of the “physical” in the “Homo Urbanicus” theory and to supplement the “physical–group–rational” method structure in the “Homo Urbanicus” theory. This conclusion indicates that the improvement of the “functional facilities” and “supporting facilities” of urban parks will play an important role in improving recreational satisfaction with urban parks. The results of this study can help researchers to build an urban park quality evaluation system from the perspective of recreation quality.

The paper suggests standards of maximum permissible recreational loads specified for republics and regions of the Middle Volga region, characterized by specific forest-growing conditions according to dominant rocks and age groups. The sequence of determining the stages of digression is corrected through the attendance of recreational facilities and the critical number of visitors according to the given model. Based on actual recreational accounting it is possible to model factors to adjust the recreational capacity of the forest area to critical number of visitors. The study of forest areas for mass recreation is based on the method of recreational load evaluation. The use of refined standards of maximum permissible recreational loads will allow considering the peculiarities of recreational forest exploitation for the zone of southern taiga and coniferous-broadleaf forests.

Abstract:
The article discusses aspects of the formation of theoretical models of modern suburban recreational complexes (SRC). The recreational environment is defined as result of interaction, interpenetration and mutual addition of three complex factors: recreational activity, recreational resources and recreational structures. Definition of SRC as the local system of recreational suburban formations of various functional profiles consisting of recreational structures is given. SRC is distinguished by taxonomic and typological features. The taxonomic feature determines the position of the SRC in the scale of rank of the recreational formations system. The typological feature indicates qualitative differences in the recreational formations of a single taxonomic rank. The analysis of examples of completed SRC allows us to distinguish the basic theoretical models of modern SRC, depending on thelocation of the recreation object. Specific features of the formation of a specialized recreational layout of the SRC are revealed: closed, half-closed, half-open and open. SRC of the closed type contain the full list of necessary rooms for performance of recreational function and don't demand connection with recreational facilities of the region. SRC of half-closed type perform one dominating recreational function with partial use of recreational resources of the area. SRC of half-open type assumes only auxiliary recreational group and operate recreational resources of the area to perform the main recreational function. SRC of open type assume only placement and incidental service and are completely focused on recreational resources of the area. The specificity of contemporary types of SRC is the position of the main recreation object relative to the SRC itself. The object of recreation within the SRC is formed by a specialized recreational group, which sets the orientation of the SRC.

It is necessary for national parks to exert multiple forms of influence. One innovative function of national parks is leisure and recreation. By optimizing the recreation function, national parks can enhance public participation and tourists’ willingness to pay to achieve sustainable development. This paper surveys 435 tourists in Wuyishan National Park with a discrete choice experiment, applies mixed logit models to explore their preferences for recreational attributes from three dimensions and analyzes the heterogeneity. The findings indicate that attributes such as the number of concession activities, transportation variety, the density of recreational facilities, biodiversity, sightseeing zone and combined ticket fee significantly impact tourists’ willingness to pay. Higher-educated, younger and willing-to-revisit tourists are more likely to pay for the park and hope to optimize the facilities and activities. The estimated recreational value of the park is RMB 164.51 (about USD 22.75) per person. Here, heterogeneity exist: higher-educated tourists ask for lager sightseeing zone, younger ones prefer more diverse activities and those who are willing to revisit incline to variety means of transportation.

Abstract:
Nowadays we observe a rapid growth of various new and actively developing facilities for winter sports and recreation. This paper is aimed at analyzing the structure of these facilities and establishing the dependence of their public popularity on the design, technology, environmental and economic efficiency. The main research methods are monitoring of the chosen facilities, data collection and summarizing, classifying and description. The key procedures and results include on-site investigations of the facilities, sociological surveys of their popularity, definition of the factors that hamper their development, working out and testing a mathematical model of climatic influence on attendance. It is shown that despite the growing demand for new sports and recreational centers, most Russian cities do not have the necessary natural conditions (elevations, complex relief) to satisfy the requirements of the contemporary winter sports enthusiasts. To meet this demand, artificial constructions for mountain and cross-country skiing, snowboarding, tubing and skating are set in parks, residential areas and on specially designated territories. In building theses facilities, various designs, constructions and technologies are used, which are considered in detail in this paper. We provide examples of successful recreational centers on artificially engineered reliefs well-blended with the Moscow urban area. We make a conclusion about the advantages of constructing new facilities and the necessity to fit them harmoniously into the existing natural and man-made environment. Temporary constructions for sports and recreation have minimal impact on the environment. At the same time, they give room for experimenting with forms, materials, technologies; they are flexible, mobile and relevant for cities. We characterize such facilities as nature-and-technology compatible systems. Our findings can be useful for specialists in urban planning and development, ecology, sociology, economics, sports and recreational management.

Abstract:
Physical exercise is one of the most important activities to do considering the many benefits that result from exercising, both in terms of the physical and spiritual health aspects of a person. However, due to various factors such as laziness, lack of adequate physical exercise facilities, and the location of each physical exercise facility which is separate from each other, the interest of the Banjarbaru community in physical exercise is low. Banjarbaru Recreational Physical Exercise Park is the answer to this problem. This area is the form of a thematic park that aims to accommodate various types of physical exercise and at the same time as an interactive recreation facility in an integrated area so that people will be able to exercise in a recreational way. In accordance with its objectives, the Banjarbaru Recreational Physical Exercise Park consists of two main functions, namely as a forum that facilitates recreational physical exercise activities and as a recreational facility to attract the interest of the Banjarbaru community to come and exercise. The Superimposition method was chosen as the solution method because it combines and collides two spatial programs in this context in the form of recreational and recreational physical exercise in which each spatial program will be contaminated with each other and form a new pattern so that it will realize the goals to be achieved.

Abstract:
The article discusses new directions in the development of the architecture of recreational facilities in South-east Asia, which need to be implemented to form a modern recreational and tourist cluster in Bangladesh. The author reveals compositional, spatial-planning, decorative-stylistic, functional and design features in the architecture of recreational objects made of bamboo. It is proposed to build the main accommodation facilities (hotels, hotels, motels, arrival houses and houses with the status of "second homes") and food facilities (cafes, bars, canteens, restaurants) using traditional ecological materials. Modern methods of energy saving, their implementation in the practice of design and construction in countries with hot and humid climates are listed. When designing recreational and tourist complexes, innovative technologies, materials and structures are introduced that increase the comfort of recreational facilities. The government relies on the development of the recreational tourism industry in the country, creating economic advantages in the development of this business in the Republic of Bangladesh, increasing the investment attractiveness for domestic and foreign investors, offering preferential tax and customs regimes for the construction and operation of recreational and tourist facilities. Many facilities of the recreational and tourist industry, built in the period 1980-2010 do not meet modern requirements for energy efficiency, environmental friendliness and aesthetic appeal, which definitely has a negative impact on the recreational attractiveness of some regions of the country, this is especially important for remote and difficult to access areas where created objects.

Abstract:
This study is related to the analysis of the features of assessing the recreational potential of the territory within the framework of the concept of sustainable development and identifying factors that affect the recreational potential and investment attractiveness of land for the organization of recreational activities and tourism. The approaches to the assessment of the recreational potential of the territory are systematized, the factors influencing the investment attractiveness of land plots for the construction of recreational facilities are identified. Based on the current trends in the development of recreation and tourism in the Russian Federation, formed during the period of restrictions caused by the coronovirus pandemic in 2020-2021, recommendations are proposed for improving methodological approaches to assessing the recreational potential and its use for territorial planning of municipalities. When conducting the assessment, it is important to take into account not only the natural prerequisites for the development of recreational activities, such as the climate and natural resource potential, but also the needs of the local population for recreation and recreation. The assessment of the recreational potential, conducted in accordance with the principles of sustainable development, expands the possibilities of using the natural resources of local territories for various types of tourism and recreational activities, which in turn can positively affect the sectoral structure of the economy, the level of socio-economic development of the region, meeting the needs of the local population in tourist and recreational services, reducing social tension in society and reducing morbidity among the population, increasing life expectancy.
