Abstract:
A high-quality recreational mathematics problem should be an intriguing problem that is easy to understand but challenging to solve. If the problem leads each would-be solver to a discovery of myriad ideas in mathematics, then so much the better. An example of such a problem was posed by the Reverend T. P. Kirkman in the Lady's and Gentleman's Diary for 1851 (Kirkman 1850).

Abstract:
Video game use is widespread among all age groups, from young children to older adults. The wide variety of video game genres, which are adapted to all tastes and needs, is one of the factors that makes them so attractive. In many cases, video games function as an outlet for stress associated with everyday life by providing an escape from reality. We took advantage of this recreational aspect of video games when investigating whether there are similarities between the procedures used to pass a video game level and those used to solve a mathematical problem. Moreover, we also questioned whether the use of video games can reduce the negative emotions generated by mathematical problems and logical–mathematical knowledge in general. To verify this, we used the Portal 2 video game as a research method or tool. This video game features concepts from the spatial–geometric field that the students must identify and relate in order to carry out the procedures required to solve challenges in each level. The procedures were recorded in a questionnaire that was separated into two blocks of content in order to compare them with the procedures used to solve mathematical problems. The first block pertains to the procedures employed and the second block to the emotions that the students experienced when playing the video game and when solving a mathematical problem. The results reveal that the recreational aspect of video games is more important than the educational aspect. However, the students were not aware of using the problem-solving procedures they learned at school to solve different challenges in the video games. Furthermore, overcoming video game challenges stimulates positive emotions as opposed to the negative emotions generated when solving mathematical problems.

Abstract:
Water-based recreation is popular in Australia. On the coast many canal estates and marinas are being constructed. Australia's arid and variable climate introduces unusual problems in the establishment of inland recreational lakes. In setting water quality criteria what is achievable must be balanced with what is desirable and criteria may need to be varied between flood and dry periods. Greater emphasis should be placed on understanding, monitoring and managing the ecology of water-bodies. If a stable ecology is maintained, it will generally follow that water quality and conditions surrounding the water-body will be acceptable for human use. In developing new lakes and canals we must carry out some mathematical modelling in order to provide a rational basis for determining water quality criteria and the necessary management actions.

Abstract The Chinese rings puzzle is one of those recreational mathematical problems known for several centuries in the West as well as in Asia. Its origin is diffcult to ascertain but is most likely not Chinese. In this paper we provide an English translation, based on a mathematical analysis of the puzzle, of two sixteenth-century witness accounts. The first is by Luca Pacioli and was previously unpublished. The second is by Girolamo Cardano for which we provide an interpretation considerably different from existing translations. Finally, both treatments of the puzzle are compared, pointing out the presence of an implicit idea of non-numerical recursive algorithms.

Abstract:
During the Edo Period (1603-1867), Japan was isolated from the influence of western mathematics. Despite this isolation, Japanese mathematics, called Wasan, flourished, and a unique approach to present mathematical problems was developed. Painted wooden tablets called sangaku were hung on display at Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples for recreational enjoyment and religious offerings. More than 900 tablets have been discovered with problems developed by priests, samurai, farmers, and children. The vast majority of these problems were solved using analytic geometry and algebraic means, and the collection as a whole is frequently referred to as Japanese Temple Geometry. Within the collection of the sangaku, several optimization problems appear with answers included. However, the methods used to obtain those answers are absent. Because the work of Newton and Leibniz was unknown to the Japanese mathematicians of that time and no evidence exists of contemporaneous Japanese mathematicians having a formal definition of the derivative, their solution techniques to these problems remains unresolved (Fukagawa and Rothman 2008). To illustrate a possible noncalculus approach for the solution to sangaku optimization problems, we will examine two specific examples. To help readers visualize the two examples, Maple™ animations have been created by the authors and can be found at http://www.mesacc.edu/~davvu41111/Sangaku.htm.

Abstract:
In the context of the Internet of Things (IoT), the user interface has become the main means of interaction between the user and the network system, and the increasing variety of ways of interacting with the user interface has created many “digital problems” for the elderly. In order to explore the preferences of elderly people in using smart products and to help designers to objectively and rationally select interface design solutions, to enhance the experience of elderly people in using smart products and the naturalness of the interaction process, and to motivate them to actively participate in Internet life, this study proposes a new approach to interface design solution selection, which reduces the subjectivity of solution selection in the design process. Firstly, the interface was decomposed into 7 components, and the orthogonal experimental design was used to calculate the evaluation indexes and the correlation degree between the objects of 18 typical solutions, and finally the preferred solution was obtained. Secondly, conjoint analysis was used to obtain the importance that older users attached to the seven interface components and their preferences for the types of elements. The research takes the interface design of an elderly companion robot as an example. The method enables the optimization of the target problem of how to match the interface design elements and the final solution preference in IoT systems, enabling designers to use mathematical and rational thinking to study contradictory problems, enhancing the objectivity and scientificity of interface design and solution selection, providing a more natural and comfortable interaction experience for elderly users, and promoting healthy ageing.

Abstract:
Sport has long been considered a social phenomenon that addresses all people, being a right recognised at international and national levels. Initially, adapted sport was a means of medical recovery and a means of spending free time in a pleasant way alongside peers with and without disabilities. Subsequently, adapted sport has turned into a means of comparing the motor skills of contestants having the same medical problems during competitions specially organized for these athletes. In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of people with disabilities who play sports but also in the number of non-disabled people who, in one form or another, get involved in adapted sport. In the present study, we aim to highlight the progress achieved in learning and consolidating the swimming technique by an athlete with Down syndrome (aged 25) who has been practising swimming as a recreational activity for 1 year. Based on certain items, the swimming technique was assessed for the three styles known to the athlete, and the means used in the 18 training sessions conducted over 7 months aimed at achieving the goals established at the beginning of the study. Structured, participatory and systematic observation, documentation, mathematical statistics and graphical representation are the methods used to complete the case study. At the end of the study, we could conclude that the athlete has obviously progressed, which is revealed by the assessments carried out. However, the process of learning and improvement had to be continued for the athlete to succeed in swimming correctly and be able to participate in swimming competitions without being disqualified because of technical errors.

Abstract:
John Horton Conway lived to discover the Mathematics behind problems, always working to isolate a pure, essential kernel of truth. He loved to communicate these simple truths to others, often changing the way they thought. Everything John touched turned to Mathematics, and to very beautiful Mathematics. John was generous with his mathematical riches; he gave them to everyone that showed interest — whether at the coffee house, at the sushi restaurant, or in Mathematics departments. He was a magnet for all mathematicians, and he welcomed all who came to him. John would find a way to start with some simple calculation, a game or puzzle and turn it into whatever he wanted to explain. John often chose problems about games and recreational topics, but the insights he derived changed our understanding of several very serious branches of Mathematics.

Abstract Although published in book form from the beginning, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s novel Kavanagh (Boston 1849) participated in the community-based exchange of knowledge and entertainment that characterized mid-century Anglo-American serial circulation. In order to investigate the details of this participation, the present article focuses on one of Longfellow’s main characters, the fictitious Mary Churchill – especially on three points of Kavanagh’s plot at which Mary demands access to recreational mathematics. With her inquisitive behavior, Mary first initiates a dialogue in the service of scientific education, thus echoing the question-and-answer setting of the earliest Anglo-American mathematics journals. Female contributors to these real-life journals may have inspired Longfellow to depict Mary’s suggestion to pose one’s own mathematical problems. The journals’ many geometry examples, finally, are mirrored in Mary’s insistence on probing solutions and thus establishing the pencil as a critical tool for problem solving, mathematical and other.1

These treatises enjoyed substantial distribution in medieval and colonial Tamil Nadu and Kerala (Parameswara Iyer 1990, Vol. 2, 524-527). In this paper we will describe these treatises based on Malayalam manuscripts. We will discuss their content, linguistic and stylistic form, context of use, relation to actual professional practices, the cultural values that they express, and the political-economic reality that they reflect. Since the Tamil versions have already been analyzed in Senthil Babu (2022), here we focus on aspects that complement his analysis and on features that are unique to, or more salient in, the Malayalam versions.

Abstract Throughout history, recreational mathematics has always played a prominent role in advancing research. Following in this tradition, in this paper we extend some recent work with crazy sequential representations of numbers− equations made of sequences of one through nine (or nine through one) that evaluate to a number. All previous work on this type of puzzle has focused only on base ten numbers and whether a solution existed. We generalize this concept and examine how this extends to arbitrary bases, the ranges of possible numbers, the combinatorial challenge of finding the numbers, efficient algorithms, and some interesting patterns across any base. For the analysis, we focus on bases three through ten. Further, we outline several interesting mathematical and algorithmic complexity problems related to this area that have yet to be considered.

The paper is aimed at searching a hedonic margin on housing in the city of Novosibirsk. Hedonic pricing confirms the price difference of residential properties in the context of a large list of matches. The methodology that has been proven in foreign studies is used to identify the causes of price differences, however, in this study we observe a traditional Soviet housing stock that is not competitive in modern urban planning. Usually the hedonic margin refers to the environmental or recreational characteristics of the area; thisstudy is more a tendency to the second option. It seems to be a novelty to reduce the complex of parameters of hedonic pricing to one key factor. The main problems of mathematical modeling of the hedonic behavior of the buyer in the real estate market in Novosibirsk are identified. The results are comparable with similar data from foreign colleagues.

Abstract:
The Black Sea coast of the Caucasus has the most valuable economic resources, primarily recreational. In addition, coastal geosystems are a key element of the region's natural biodiversity. This paper provides an overview of the current state of abrasion and accumulative shores of the Black Sea between c. Panagia and r. Tuapse. Materials of long-term monitoring observations, satellite imagery, the results of mathematical modeling, literary and archival sources are used. The most important natural processes that determine the development of the coasts are considered and the analysis of their dynamics due to climate changes and increasing anthropogenic load is performed. It is shown that the significant differences between individual sections of the north-western part of the Caucasus Black Sea coast in terms of natural features and the degree of their economic development are determined by a variety of natural and socio-economic factors. Abrasion coasts with high cliffs, where denudation processes are the main source of solid material to the coastal zone, predominate. The general deficit of beach-forming sediments is a characteristic feature, as a result of which there is no single alongshore sediment flux. Small lithodynamic systems bounded by capes are characteristic of the coast under consideration. The movement of sediments has the character of reverse migrations and the beach is formed in the concavities of the coast. The only large accumulative form is the Anapa bay-bar, in the formation of which the alluvium of the Kuban River played an important role. Predominance of erosion processes over accumulative ones is the geomorphological feature of the Caucasus Black Sea coasts, therefore the main problems of environmental management are the protection of the coast from storm waves and shortage of beaches. Creation of complexes of artificial beaches with beach-retaining structures, that simultaneously perform coastal protection and recreational functions, is the most promising solution to these problems in the 21st century. It is noted that the conditions of the considered coastal section are favorable for the use of local coastal protection.

Abstract:
Urbanization, which causes the need for population mobility, leads to an increase in motorization and related problems: the organization of parking spaces in cities, both near work places and recreational spaces, and not far from residential locations. This has a number of consequences. Therefore, the occupation of parking spaces near shopping centers and sports and recreation facilities, intended only for customers of these organizations, makes it difficult for direct customers to access services. This forces potential customers to look for a parking space in adjacent areas, often far from the target location. At the same time, the search for a parking space is stretched over time, negatively affecting the environment in the form of emissions and noise. On the other hand, there is a risk of losing a client. In the course of the study, we have analyzed the state of the problem and the directions of research on parking management in cities, and then we have studied the possibilities of using simulation models to find rational options for the organization of access to parking spaces and further using such models in decision support systems (DSS) as an intellectual core. The literature review showed that this is the most adequate option for an intelligent city parking space management system. At the same time, the environmental factor must also be taken into account. Research methods are based on field studies of traffic flows and emissions near parking places, and mathematical and simulation modeling. The proposed system will allow the evaluation of the effectiveness of the proposed changes in the organization of access to parking spaces, and, in the future, when implementing the obtained optimal solution, in practice, provide customers with a guaranteed parking space and reduce traffic and emissions. The introduction of such a system guarantees its quick payback, which is associated with the efficiency of use, as well as with the additional effects obtained from its implementation (improving the road situation, reducing vehicle emissions, solving social problems of the population, etc.), which is especially important for medium and small cities with limited budgets.

In Azerbaijan, since the earliest times, the Caspian Sea has contributed to the Received in revised form: 07.10.2021 settlement of population and structure of the economy. The favourable natural geographical conditions of the coasts, exploitation of offshore oil and gas fields and rich tourist-recreational potential favoured the economy of Azerbaijan significantly. However, sea-level fluctuations and environmental damage observed due to exploitation of natural resources served as curbing factor in the development. In modern times, planning of residential areas in the coastal areas, improvement of industrial, agricultural and tourism infrastructure, and successful management of the ecological situation are achievable through effective use of the natural resources and human potential of the Caspian Sea. The coastal region of the Caspian Sea, composed of three zones, is favourable for the development of Azerbaijan’s economy. Theattractiveness of coastal areas is related mainly to preferences of natural conditions and resources and the advantages of their transport- geographical location. As a result, the development level of the economy of the Pre-Caspian region is higher compared to other regions of the country. The region accounts for 88.7 % of the total industrial output in the country. The main part of it, i. e. 95.7 % is shared by the city of Baku. The cause of significant difference in development level between the regions and the capital Baku is associated with the use of oil and gas resources of the Caspian. Thus, offshore oil and gas reserves in the Caspian have played a notable role in the development of coastal areas, and of the country’s whole economy. This has led to inequality in terms of regional development. This factor prompted the need to study the role of the use of resources of the Caspian Sea in the sustainable development of Azerbaijan’s economy. In order to achieve the goal, a comparative analysis of the leading economic branches in the Pre-Caspian regions was carried out from a historical point of view. The obtained information was systematized, and the socio-economic aspects of sustainable development were identified based on statistical-mathematical materials. Aerospace data were used as well.

Abstract:
At the present stage, considerable attention is paid to the problems of harming the environment, which arises as a result of uncontrolled or unreasonably burdensome tourism and recreational activities for natural landscapes. The article highlights certain ecological aspects of the development of the tourism and recreation sphere. It is determined what impact the growth of mass tourism has on the natural and recreational potential and the natural environment. As you know, the policy of intensifying the use of tourist-recreation potential leads to an increase in the load on the ecosystem. Therefore, first of all, it is necessary to form a policy and develop a strategy for the development of tourism not separately, but as an integral part of a unified regional policy based on the principles of sustainable ecologic economic development. An important factor in the development of tourism is maintaining a balance between ecological, economic and social components. First of all, environmental factors of development should be taken into account: optimal anthropogenic load on the natural resources of the territory, diversification of types of tourism: the formation of ecolo-gically oriented directions, which will make it possible to achieve a balanced develop-ment of tourism. The policy of the development of the tourist and recreational sphere, taking into account the environmental impact, is becoming more and more urgent and relevant. The protection and transformation of recreational areas includes the determination of load standards for natural complexes, the allocation of green zones and resort forests, the protection of recreational lands, forest management measures, the protection of underground water and mineral resources and sources, and the preservation of the purity of the air basin. The rapid development of tourist and recreational activities is reflected in the massive, sharp increase in the number of tourists, includingmotorists. Issues of protection of natural resources should be resolved long before the start of exploitation of the recreational area, i.e. at the design stage. Keywords:ecological aspects, tourist and recreational activities, impact and consequences, balance.

Abstract:
Digital technology has come to strongly dominate our lives in the last decade. Technological progress has made it almost impossible for us to do our work and be creative without the help of computer technology. The relationship between the real world and the virtual one has undergone radical change. We can no longer imagine our everyday lives without access to the Internet and various digital innovations. In developing societies there is a widespread belief that technology will solve the most pressing problems by making our world a safer and more comfortable place. However, many of the questions and problems associated with the digital world relate to the dynamic development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology and its impact on us and our communities. These issues have become the subject of research conducted by a wide range of specialists: from mathematicians, computer scientists and physicists to sociologists, political scientists, cognitive scientists, and psychologists. This is due to the fact that AI is becoming an increasingly controversial issue, raising serious social, political, economic and pedagogical questions. It will not be long before AI is able to satisfy the vast majority of our needs, be they either technical and practical or recreational, cultural, or even psychological. Expectations of trustworthiness, understanding of our desires, reliable behaviour or adherence to ethical norms are already becoming elements of our relationship with AI and are being written into official documents that define strategies for implementing intelligent systems in the public sector. In this paper I am going to answer questions about the nature of AI and, in particular, about what we call intelligence or machine thinking. When we use the English term <em>intelligence</em> to describe mathematical algorithms, are we correctly defining the nature of what machines do? How and in what way does the claimed intelligence of artificial human creations differ from the natural intelligence of a human person? I believe that describing and understanding this fundamental difference can help us to implement wholesome technological projects &ndash; ones in which the intellectual and volitional potential of human beings is enriched rather than deformed by the irresponsible use of artificial intelligence systems.

Abstract:
Tourism has been chosen as one of the priority areas among non-oil sectors. Although there are prerequisites for the development of tourism in a country with rich natural and historical-cultural recreation resources, the use of the country's rich tourism potential is not sufficient. One of the reasons why tourism cannot achieve any result is the problems of tourism education. This problem is also delaying the transition to the sustainable development of tourism. These reasons make it necessary to carry out research on tourism education, identify and solve problems. Some issues related to tourism education have been touched upon in the Strategic Roadmap for Tourism Development, tourism-related programs, and some tourism textbooks, and highlighted the importance of solving the problem. Almost all tourism education institutions and most of the qualified cadres in tourism are concentrated in the capital Baku and other major cities. This indicates that there is an inequality in the location of skilled cadres in the field of tourism, and according to these figures, the regions are far behind the major cities like Baku, Ganja, and Sumgait. Investigation of tourism education requires comprehensive and systematic analysis. Statistical analysis, comparative analysis, and SWOT analysis methods have been used in this article, which examines the problems of tourism education in Azerbaijan. If problems on tourism education are solved, it will be possible to make better use of the country's recreational potential and improve the quality of tourism services. The problem of tourism education is to increase the number of enterprises providing tourist education, to study and apply the experience of developed countries, to strengthen the staff in the tourism education institutions, to introduce innovative methods of teaching, to improve the quality of textbooks, to enhance tourism education in the regions, and to provide internship opportunities for students and young researchers to meet their needs.

Abstract:
The effectiveness of game and recreational activity (GaRA) can be determined from the application of fuzzy conjoint analysis (FCA). The analysis was used due to fuzziness in determining individual perceptions. This study involved a survey collected from 1494 students who participated in a Mathematics Discovery Camp organized by a UKM research group. The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of modules delivered to cultivate affection and confidence in Mathematics through different factors. There were 11 games conducted for the participants, and their perceptions based on the evaluation of six attributes were measured. A seven-point Likert scale method representing seven linguistic terms was used to collect students&rsquo; preferences to indicate their perceptions of each GaRA module. Scores of perceptions were transformed into degrees of similarity. Results found that interest, effort and team work were the strongest values obtained from GaRA as participants strongly agreed that these attributes fulfilled their preferences in most module. The evaluation using fuzzy conjoint model implicated the successfulness of a fuzzy approach to evaluate fuzziness obtained in the Likert-scale, and has shown its ability in ranking the attributes from most preferred to least preferred.

Abstract:
The article analyzes the organization of international tourism and trends in its development in Ukraine and the world. It is established that international tourism is one of the most profitable businesses in the world. This sector has recently become increasingly important in the structure of national economies, and is developing every rapidly, in countries that prioritize the development of recreation and tourism, this service sector is growing much faster and is one of the most important fillers of the state treasury, but is still active growth and its potential is much greater than used under current conditions. The global features of international tourism are considered, which indicates the special role of the most powerful tourism countries in the world market of tourism services. The current state of functioning of the international tourism sector in Ukraine is analyzed. The analysis showed that the effectiveness of such activities is constrained by the unresolved number of problems, for the solution of which it is necessary to make appropriate changes and additions to current legislation; approval of national standards for all types of recreational and tourist services. It turns out that Ukraine has all the objective prerequisites to become one of the leading countries in the world with developed international tourism. It is proposed to classify the needs of consumers of tourism products in international tou-rism activities by the criteria of their causes: The peculiarities of the use of innovative services in the activities of tourism businesses are considered. Abstract. The article analyzed most recent meaning and problems of the entry tourism in Ukraine, were mentioned the main obstacles, that could cause problems for tourism industry in Ukraine and its negative impact on the development of the branch as opposed to the world standards. It analyzed the main indicators in the activity of collective means, indicated a tendency to their reduction in numbers and shortage in foreigner fraction, which remained there before. The modern problems of tourism branch as well as overall tendency of change in the interaction between causes of regulations of tourism industry were defined, stated the reasons of decrease of touristic flows. Modern tourism pays a significant part in stimulations of the economical development of not only separate branches but also country’s economics as well. Development of the tourism stimulates consumers’ demand, increases the level of the currency income, impacts the employment, boosts the living conditions of thepopulation, activates relations between the countries of the touristic process, provides constant development of the certain regions and is considered a great way in protection of the cultural, historical and environmental heritage. The involvement of the foreign tourists brings significant income for the country, however, also requires big investments in the branch for the modernization of the service sector. Tourism in-dustry provides more and more income to the budget of the world countries every yearand that is why the market became highly competitive as every country tries to be the most attractive one for the potential traveler and, consequently, lead in the promotion of touristic goods. Tourism potentiality of Ukraine is embraced in a very few ways. With the proper attitude, tourism can bring significant economical benefits to the county, without causing any social and environmental problems. There are few factors affecting the development of entry tourism: political and economical stability of the country, safety and comfort of the tourists, the overall state of the touristic infrastructure, evidence of the cultural and historical heritage, special recreational zones, tourist destinations or either cultural or sport events. Tourism branch brings high income to the countries that cultivate it and also the countries of the European Union. In the conditions of euro integration, the development of the tou-rism activity in Ukraine, especially the entry tourism, becomes the one of the significant importance. The main point of the research is highlighting the problems that occurred in native tourism branch. Keywords: tourism, entry tourism, collective placement meanings.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the analysis and generalization of the results of research on the study of mental performance and fatigue of students. The aim is to assess the mental working ability of middle-aged schoolchildren when actively solving mathematical problems and problems in order to develop a hygienically rational mode of work in the conditions of mental activity. The core samples of the letter table of V. Ya. Anfimov were selected as the methodological tools. According to the results of the study, the values of the daily adaptability index indicated a pronounced fatigue of the children during the school day. The performance of educational tasks in mathematics, associated with the active solution of examples and problems, causes a significant strain on the functions of the organ and leads to rapid mental fatigue of students. The conducted research showed that 20–30 min. intensive intellectual activity followed by 10–15 minutes active recreation in the fresh air are the optimal periods of work for schoolchildren. Sedentary rest in the corridors of the school does not provide a sufficient recovery of mental performance of students. Thus, the educational process should be structured in such a way as to prevent the occurrence of overwork, which creates the prerequisites for the development of acute and chronic health disorders, the development of nervous, psychosomatic and other diseases.

Abstract:
Most studies on the switching game Lights Out and its variants focus on the solvability of given games or the number of solvable games, but when the game is viewed in a coding-theoretical perspective, more interesting questions with special symbolizations in coding theory will naturally pop up, such as finding the minimal number of lit lights among all solvable games apart from the solved game, or finding the minimal number of lit lights that the player can achieve from a given unsolvable game, etc. However, these problems are usually hard to solve in general from the perspective of algorithmic complexity. This study considers a Lights Out variant called two-state Alien Tiles, which toggles all the lights in the same row and those in the same column of the clicked light. We investigate its properties, discuss several coding-theoretical problems about this game, and explore this game as an error-correcting code and investigate its optimality. The purpose of this paper is to propose ways of playing switching games in a think-outside-the-box manner, which benefits the recreational mathematics community.

&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Tourism is one of the most developed industries in the world that is continuously growing. It has many different shapes and types with many different factors that affect its success. Over the years, tourism has changed. The new era of tourism is trying to put focus on present environmental problems such as the amount of waste, the use of natural resources and the pollution that it produces as a result of different activities. In this paper, the effect of natural and artificial resources on the development of three types of ecotourism is observed on the area of Semberija and Majevica in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Types of tourism that were research are: cultural and heritage tourism, spa (healing) tourism and recreational tourism. All these types have a great presence on the observed area. The distribution and attendance of the three types of tourism mentioned above is largely dependent on natural elements, such as water and forest areas, which can have both a positive and a negative effect on its development. On the area of Semberija and Majevica, types of tourism largely depend from the location and its surrounding.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;
