Enterocutaneous fistula is defined as an abnormal communication between the intestinal lumen and the skin usually associated with abdominal surgeries, trauma, Crohn's disease, hernia mesh erosions and diverticulitis. We report a case of 46-year-old male, obese, referred to general surgery for enterocutaneous fistula in hernia sac. He had undergone exploratory laparotomy for gunshot wound to the abdomen 6 years ago where he underwent subtotal colectomy, splenectomy and terminal ileostomy with amputation of the rectal stump. Reconstruction of open abdominal defects is a clinical problem which general and plastic surgeons have to address in cooperation. We report the case of a 66-year-old man who presented an abdominal dehiscence after multiple laparotomies for a sigmoid-rectal adenocarcinoma that infiltrated into the abdominal wall, subsequently complicated by peritonitis and enteric fistula. A cutaneous dehiscence and an incontinent abdominal wall resulted after the last surgery. The abdominal wall was reconstructed using a biological porcine cross-linked mesh Permacol (Covidien Inc., Norwalk, CT). Negative Press

BACKGROUND Abdominal wall deficiencies or weakness are a common complication of temporary ostomies, and incisional hernias frequently develop after colostomy or ileostomy takedown. The use of synthetic meshes to reinforce the abdominal wall has reduced hernia occurrence. Biologic meshes have also been used to enhance healing, particularly in contaminated conditions. Reinforced tissue matrices (RTMs), which include a biologic scaffold of native extracellular matrix and a synthetic component for added strength/durability, are designed to take advantage of aspects of both synthetic and biologic m

Additionally, our case is one of the few demonstrating medical treatment can effectively heal both the ulcer and GJ fistula, thus obviating the need for surgery. Abstract:
A vesicoperineal fistula is an uncommon entity, described as an aberrant tract between the bladder lumen and the cutaneous surface of the perineum. We present the case of a 78-year-old male who underwent abdominoperineal resection and chemoradiotherapy for the treatment of non-metastatic, locally advanced rectal cancer. Five years later, he developed a pelvic floor hernia and underwent perineal mesh repair. A few months postoperatively, he was diagnosed with a vesicoperineal fistula. Abstract Background Colonic anastomotic leak and fistula following anterior resection surgery for rectal cancer are associated with high mortality rates. The incidence of occurrence varies from 2 to 25% and it is difficult to accurately calculate the incidence of fistula and leak post anterior resection, as most of them are asymptomatic. Endoscopic management of fistula and leak has become the first line of management after conservative management in many gastrointestinal surgical centers with the advantages of being less invasive, shorter length of post-operative hospital stay, effective and
