Abstract:
Nowadays we are moving towards digitization and making all our devices produce a variety of data, this has paved the way to the emergence of NoSQL databases like Cassandra, MongoDB, and Redis. Big data such as geospatial data allows for geospatial analytics in applications such as tourism, marketing, and rural development. Spark frameworks provide operators storage and processing of distributed data. This article proposes “GeoRediSpark” to integrate Redis with Spark. Redis is a key-value store that uses an in-memory store, hence integrating Redis with Spark can extend the real-time processing of geospatial data. The article investigates storage and retrieval of the Redis built-in geospatial queries and has added two new geospatial operators, GeoWithin and GeoIntersect, to enhance the capabilities of Redis. Hashed indexing is used to improve the processing performance. A comparison on Redis metrics with three benchmark datasets is made. Hashset is used to display geographic data. The output of geospatial queries is visualized to the type of place and the nature of the query using Tableau.

Abstract:
The object of research is a distributed order processing system for a restaurant chain. The subject of the research is the analysis of the use of Redis for managing event queues in distributed systems. When implementing a distributed order processing system in a restaurant chain with a possible load of up to 20,000 users per day, the Redis system was used. Management of 9 distributed subsystems was organized through Redis. This solution showed an increase in the performance of the system under heavy load (from 50 transactions per second), but the response time of the system in some cases of its operation was longer than without using Redis. When working systems using Redis, it is necessary to take into account the amount of data with which Redis will work, since it does not exceed the amount of RAM, the absence of differentiation into users and groups, and the absence of a query language, which is replaced by a key-value scheme. This research is aimed at analyzing the operation of the system during trial operation under real load. We compared the operation of a configured system with Redis enabled and disabled. The main indicators for the analysis were the system response time and the maximum request execution time. The research was carried out for 2 weeks, the first week using the system settings with disabled Redis, the second – with enabled Redis. We selected 2 days with a similar load on the system to each other. Especially indicative are the results of comparing the durations of the longest queries, which show an almost constant value of the duration for the system in the mode of enabled Redis. The hypothesis of an increase in the system response time at low loads was confirmed, but this value not only leveled off at a load of 500 unique users but also became less at loads of 1000 unique users.

Abstract:
Abstract The article discusses the possibility of using Redis key-value NoSQL database to process building data in different BIM-GIS integration solutions. Whichever data integration model is adopted, it will require an efficient serving of building data in Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) format. The author proposed a method of processing building data in the Redis database to support the process of feeding IFC data to his own concept of an integrated BIM-GIS database. However, other approaches to BIM-GIS integration, including the import of IFC data to CityGML, or the construction of an integrated BIM-GIS solution based on data integration at the application server level or client application in client-server environments, also require an efficient IFC data serving mechanism. This article describes three methods of storing IFC data in a Redis database using different data types and formats. The author conducted performance tests of the proposed methods in the processing of fourteen test BIM models. The article contains detailed results of the model processing tests in the Redis database.

Abstract:
Utilization of an in-memory database as a cache can overcome relational database latency problems in a web application, especially when using a lot of join queries. This study aims to model the academic relational data into Redis compatible data and analyze the performance of join queries usage to accelerate access to relational data managed by RDBMS. This study used academic data to calculate student GPA that is modeled in the RDBMS and Redis in-memory database (IMDB). The use of Redis as an in-memory database can significantly increase Mysql database system performance up to 3.3 times faster to display student data using join query and to shorten the time needed to display GPA data to 52 microseconds from 61 milliseconds.

Abstract:
<p>Increasing requirements for scalability and elasticity of data storage for web applications has made Not Structured Query Language NoSQL databases more invaluable to web developers. One of such NoSQL Database solutions is Redis. A budding alternative to Redis database is the SSDB database, which is also a key-value store but is disk-based. The aim of this research work is to benchmark both databases (Redis and SSDB) using the Yahoo Cloud Serving Benchmark (YCSB). YCSB is a platform that has been used to compare and benchmark similar NoSQL database systems. Both databases were given variable workloads to identify the throughput of all given operations. The results obtained shows that SSDB gives a better throughput for majority of operations to Redis’s performance.</p>

Abstract:
Redis is an open source key-value database that supports Lua programming language scripts, but it s implementation is single threaded. Long running scripts are discouraged because script evaluation is blocking, which may cause service levels deterioration. Applying the M:N threading model, which combines user and operating system threads, we added to Redis the ability of running scripts in parallel, leveraging all server cores. With the use of Lua coroutines, we implemented a scheduler able to allocate and suspend user-level tasks in the available cores without the need of changing scripts source code. The M:N model allowed us to protect the programmer from the natural complexities that arise from parallel programming, such as access to shared resources synchronization and scheduling of tasks into different operational system threads.

Abstract:

This report evaluates the possibilities of scalability and increased performance bydistributing a system. Also, it will illustrate the relative ease of implementationusing Erlang. The illustration is made by distributing the stand alone key-value datastore Edis. Edis is an Erlang implementation of Redis, it is a project underdevelopment at Inaka Systems. The distribution is achieved by using mechanisms provided by Erlang, supervisors and monitors. Furthermore, logic to enforce consistency and synchronization of the system is implemented. The future ambition of Edis is to combine the speed of Redis with the scalability of Riak. In this report it is shown how distribution is a key step for achieving this ambition.

Abstract:
NoSQL is basically a family name for all Database Management Systems (DBMS) that is not Relational DBMS. The fast growth of all social networks has led to a huge amount of unstructured data that NoSQL DBMS is supposed to handle better than Relational DBMS. Most comparisons performed are between Relational DBMS and NoSQL DBMS. In this paper, the comparison is about non-functional properties for different types of NoSQL DBMS instead. Three of the most common NoSQL types are Document Stores, Key-Value Stores and Column Stores. The most used DBMS of those types are MongoDB, Redis and Apache Cassandra. After working with the databases and performing YCSB Benchmarking the conclusion is that if the database should handle an enormous amount of data, Cassandra is most probably best choice. If speed is the most important property and if all data fits within the memory; Redis is probably the most well suited database. If the database needs to be flexible and versatile, MongoDB is probably the best choice.

Abstract:
Mobile applications and real-time data are excellent tools for rapidly sharing information. Such information may concern public transportation, such as time tables and traffic delays. This project has involved the development of a trip planner, which can subscribe to real-time data in order to inform the end user about the position of transit vehicles and trip updates. A trip planner is an application which, after having been given a start and a destination by the user, generates the possible trip between these two locations. The route is displayed upon a map, along with information of how the trip is travelled. The real-time data, which is pushed to the application, will inform the user if vehicles are delayed and if the trip needs to be updated due to a missed bus or train. The trip planner for Itract developed in this project is using the graphical interface and some necessary Java classes from the open source application Open Trip Planner. The new trip planner, developed in this project, is compatible with the API of Itract, has some additional functionality and can subscribe to real-time information. To subscribe to real-time information, a database called Redis has been set up in connection to Itract. Another database, known as MongoDB, is used for persistant storage.

Abstract:
Radish is of great importance as an early valuable vegetable product, especially in spring and first half of summer. Due to its high taste and nutritional qualities, radish is the most popular early crop in the world practice of vegetable growing, which is grown everywhere. One of the main methods for solving the problem of providing the population of our country with marketable products of this culture is the development of selection and seed production. The creation of new competitive varieties and hybrids will help to transfer the vegetable growing industry to a qualitatively new level of development.
