Artykuł prezentuje centralne miejsce Biblii w życiu U. Zwingliego. Reformacja w Zurychu, której początki były głównie jego dziełem, ujawniła to na kilku polach: w kaznodziejstwie, prowadzonych dysputach teologicznych i w tzw. „szkole proroctw” (Prophezei). Na każdym z tych pól szwajcarski reformator eksponował autorytet Biblii – nieporównywalny z innymi autorytetami. Równocześnie podkreślał rolę Ducha Świętego w interpretacji tekstów biblijnych. Prawda o inspirującym działaniu Ducha Świętego, jak i prawda o suwerenności Boga leżą u podstaw życia i teologicznego dziedzictwa reformatora z Zurychu.

Hasil dari pendekatan literatur teologis dapat disingkapkan bahwa gereja reformatoris menaruh perhatian pada beberapa aspek penting yang membuat gereja mampu memengaruhi dunia dalam setiap aspek kehidupan, yaitu gereja yang memberitakan Injil, mengajar dan berkhotbah, mengorganisir serta memimpin, melaksanakan sakramen, dan menerapkan disiplin gereja. aspek-aspek tersebut bukanlah demi gereja itu sendiri yang di dalamnya terdapat orang-orang pilihan Allah, melainkan demi memuliakan Allah Tritunggal.

El estudio tuvo un enfoque mixto. En solución al problema estudiado, se elaboró un proyecto de ley reformatorio a la Ley Orgánica de Movilidad Humana, en los artículos 2, 3 numeral 4 y 58 inciso primero, con el objeto de cubrir el vacío que presenta dicho marco legal, garantizando la aplicación correcta de los derechos a las personas en movilidad humana, conforme manda la Constitución y los Convenios Internacional de derechos humanos.

Abstract:
In the 1850s, tens of thousands of children were imprisoned in Ireland. At that time there was a growing concern internationally that incarceration of children with adult criminals was inappropriate. This concern resulted in the passage of legislation in 1858 which facilitated the opening of reformatory schools in Ireland. By 1870, ten reformatories had opened, yet, as this article argues, three quarters of children given custodial sentences in that year were sent to prison and not to the new institutions. In the second half of the nineteenth century, there were attempts to improve conditions for children in prison; however, as the century drew to a close, there was a general agreement that any form of imprisonment was unsuitable for children. New laws, culminating in the Children Act of 1908, gradually brought about the removal of children from prisons, so that by 1912 there were only five children imprisoned in Ireland.

Abstract:
This essay explores records from Beijing's efforts to intern and reform the city's “lumpenproletariat” after 1949. Connecting these reports to central government directives about national thought reform policy, I show that reeducators and their superiors discoursed in detail about the existence of resisters, who opposed and defied the government, but whom reformatory staff explicitly labeled as non-enemies. The case of Beijing reformatories suggests that anti-state, but non-counterrevolutionary resistance was an important symbolic and rhetorical category, central to the Chinese Communist Party's articulation of its own purpose. In the context of reeducation, opposition to the party-state constituted evidence of a founding “truth”: feudal, imperialist, and capitalist oppression had so damaged the Chinese nation that only a radical and revolutionary transformation could save it. Over the course of the 1950s, reading and analyzing resistance in this way led policy makers to redefine “The People” as well as the social place of individuals accused of activities like prostitution, begging, and petty crime.

The essay focuses on the drama-pieces planned by Martin Rinckart to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Reformation in 1617. They are concentrated around Martin Luther as a “hero” for the protestant confession, like in Der Eißlebische Christliche Ritter where Luther figures as a warrior of true belief. Special attention is paid first to the relation between text and music with regard to the performances of the pieces; and second to the question why Rinckart has obviously realized only three of the seven planned pieces about the reformation and Luther. For answering, the essay argues that the reform in poetics and poetry initiated by Martin Opitz has challenged the poetical concept of Rinckart’s pieces in such a way that he was unable to continue them. Ironically, his most famous religious poem Nun danket alle Gott has been rescued out of the wreckage of his ambitious plan of a Luther-Heptalogy.

The main objective of the article is to analyze and evaluate cost, revenue and profit efficiency scores of Indian scheduled commercial banks (SCBs) in India during 1991–1992 till 2012–2013 by the application of data envelopment analysis (DEA)—a nonparametric approach. The results show that Indian SCBs have profit, revenue and cost efficiency of less than 1 during both the reformatory as well as post-reformatory era depicting that banks are not able to maximize their revenues and minimize their costs simultaneously in order to enhance their net effect. During reformatory and post-reformatory era, SCBs are more efficient in generating revenues and profits rather than in using their resources efficiently reflecting a high level of cost inefficiency. Overall, the results depict that Indian SCBs exhibit higher efficiency scores in reformatory era than in post-reformatory era.

The Queensland Reformatory and Industrial Schools Act (1865) provided for the creation of a system of reformatory and industrial schools. This article explores the early years of the reformatory for boys. The Act defined Aboriginal children as ‘neglected’ and eligible to be sent to this institution. However, of the first 1000 children admitted, all but 33 were White. This article explores this contradiction through an analysis of the reformatory in light of fears about the fragility of Whiteness in Queensland’s climate.

Abstract:
This article revisits reformatories set up under Nationalist China from 1928–37 to transform former Communists into loyal nationalist subjects. By examining confessions attributed to inmates and scandalous tales of Communists published by reformatories, it argues that these institutions were more than devices to suppress political dissent. Instead, reformatories played productive functions for the Guomindang state. First, reformatories’ in-house magazines conjured up an anticommunist figure of the Communist that combined the excesses of urban capitalism and the residues of China’s “superstitious” sect. Communist cadres, articles written by political converts suggested, were puerile, capricious, and alienated from traditional moral norms. At the same time, the Communist movement was attributed qualities of an evil cult preying on the ignorant and the irrational. Second, by publicizing the overcoming of the sins attributed to Communists, the reformatories created, with contributions by former Communists, a textual economy in which the Chinese populace as a whole turned away from left-wing politics and acquired a new subject position. More than converting individual Communists into “proper” nationalists, reformatories were supposed to bring about, if only in allegorical terms, mass conversion to the sobriety, obedience, hierarchical order, and organic unity that the nation was supposed to entail.

This article extends the literature on juvenile justice historiography by providing an analysis of the Illinois State Reformatory—a combined juvenile reformatory and reformatory for young adults—from 1891 to 1915. Primary and secondary sources reveal that the Illinois State Reformatory was a unique institution which offered an alternative to traditional congregate and family models. An examination of the institution's goals, population, programs, and sentencing and parole systems exposes the complexities of attempting to organize and operate a hybrid institution. There was, in the final analysis, a wide disparity between the promise and practice of the Illinois experiment.

This article explores the origins and nature of the reformatory in Cape colonial society between 1882 and 1910. Born in a period of economic transition, its concern was with the reproduction of a labouring population precipitated by colonial conquest. Unlike the prison and compound, which gained their distinctive character from the way in which they were articulated to an emerging industrial capitalist society, the reformatory was shaped by the imperatives of merchant capital and commercial agriculture. Although based on the English model, local social realities quickly began to mould the particular nature of the reformatory in the Cape Colony. Firstly, classification for the purposes of control came to mean segregation in a colonial context. secondly, the needs of commercial agriculture meant that in Porter there was a much greater stress on the apprenticing of inmates than there was in the internal operations of the British reformatory.

Ta reformator heksametra je očitno Anton Aškerc ki je nekaj mesecev prej izdal pesniško zbirko Akropolis in piramide. V tej zbirki najdemo med drugim tudi pesem V starem Korintu, napisano v kratkih rimanih verzih. Če v njej po dva in dva zaporedna verza strnemo, dobimo heksametre, kar je opazil in pohvalil že klasični filolog in Askerčev prijatelj Josip Wester v oceni zbirke Akropolis in piramide; oceno je objavil v Slovenskem narodu.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to analyze and evaluate cost efficiency (CE) scores of Indian Scheduled Commercial Banks (SCBs) in India over a period of 22 years, i.e. 1991–1992 to 2012–2013. Design/methodology/approach Data envelopment analysis (DEA) – a non-parametric approach is used to calculate efficiency scores of banks. Further the efficiency scores are decomposed into technical and allocative efficiency. The differences in the efficiency scores across ownership as well as across reformatory and post-reformatory era are examined by applying Panel Tobit Regression. Findings The paper also identifies the reason for cost inefficiency among Indian banks. In addition, the nature of their return to scale of all SCBs has also been evaluated. The results of the paper depict that Indian SCBs have never achieved full CE score of 1 in any of the years of study. The dominant reason identified behind cost inefficiency is allocative inefficiency. Surprisingly, the results also highlight that SCBs exhibit higher CE scores in reformatory era as compared to the post-reformatory era. Originality/value With specific reference to India, even lesser literature is found on CE. Indian banking sector has witnessed many changes on account of liberalization, privatization and globalization (LPG). Before banks adapted to the new environment, the global financial crisis acted as a fuel to fire affecting the performance of banks. Thus, a reassessment over a longer period would help to know a wholistic view of the issue of cost inefficiency, which has always been a troubling factor for Indian banks.

In the autumn of 1851, a group of philanthropists, magistrates, and prison officials sent out a circular inviting like-minded persons to a conference on ‘the Condition and Treatment of the “Perishing and Dangerous Classes” of Children and Juvenile Offenders.’ On December 9 and 10, this conference met in Birmingham and adopted a number of resolutions advocating that destitute and criminal children be sent to reformatory institutions instead of prison. It also appointed a committee to advance the reformatory cause, and this group subsequently presented the Birmingham Conference's resolutions to the Home Secretary (Sir George Grey).

Działalność gospodarcza klasztoru Kanoników Regularnych z Żagania nie doczekała się jeszcze dogłębnej analizy historyków. Opat Trudwin (1325–1347) musiał borykać się z problemami reformy życia wewnętrznego i potrzebą rozwoju siły gospodarczej klasztoru. Zmiany te spotkały się z dużym oporem braci. Niekorzystnym czynnikiem, utrudniającym sprawne gospodarowanie klasztorem, była zmiana stosunków pomiędzy książętami a klasztorem, którzy do 1342 r. wspierali klasztor, jednak później sytuacja uległa pogorszeniu i konwent coraz częściej traktowany był przez władców jako konkurent ekonomiczny, co doprowadzało do licznych sporów, także na tle gospodarczym. W tej trudnej sytuacji opat sprostał wyzwaniom, powiększając jego ziemie i pozyskując kolejne czynsze i dochody.

Od djetinjastva on iskazuje interesovanje i ljubav prema nauci i filozofiji. Iz toga se izrodila jedna veoma snažna i utjecajna ličnost koja je zdravom razumu stavila pod lupu tadašnje vlastodršce i učenjake. Hrabro ulazi u dijalog sa svakim autoritetom vlasti i nauke. Na putu ostvarenja Istine ne štedi nikoga, pa čak ni samoga sebe, zbog čega se može reći da je i svoj život položio za te uzvišene ciljeve. Iako je bio oštar kritičar mnogih političkih i vjerskih lidera, kako u islamskim tako i u neislamskim sredinama, uživao je njihovo puno poštovanje i uvažavanje. Uzvišeni ciljevi se mogu postići samo mudrim potezima uz pomoć Gospodara svjetova. Afganija će ostati upamćen kao najsvjetlija baklja koja se pojavila u drugoj polovini devetnaestog vijeka, a njegove mudre ideje ni danas ne gube na svojoj snazi i značaju.

Oksfordo reformatoriai, norėdami pagrįsti klasikiniame Renesanse sukurtą antropocentrinį mitą, vieni pirmųjų atgaivino patristinę filosofiją. Aiškinant pasaulio sandarą, grįžtama į teocentrizmą. Žmogui skiriama vieta paskutinėje hierarchiškai griežtai sutvarkytos būties pakopoje, bet jis apdovanojamas dieviškosiomis galiomis – laisva valia ir protu. J. Coletas, pagrįsdamas savo mokymą apie pasaulio sąrangą, suformulavo žmogaus „antrojo sukūrimo“ programą: ja vadovaudamasis, nuolat tobulindamasis ir puoselėdamas savo dvasią, žmogus galįs atgimti. Iš tokių pasikeitusių, dvasingų žmonių atsirasianti galimybė sukurti naują, dvasingą, socialiai pertvarkytą, netradicinę žmonių bendriją, idealų mistinį kūną. Ši programa sujungė visas atskiras kryptis, kurias netrukus išplėtojo Oksfordo reformatorių krikščioniškasis humanizmas. Aptariama Erazmo Roterdamiečio naujos humanistinės bendruomenės (Kristaus kariaunos, t. y. idealios žmonijos) samprata. T. More‘as projektavo pakeistos žmonių bendrijos idėją socialinėje idealios valstybinės santvarkos plotmėje.

Cilj ovog rada je da načelno elaborira najvažnija pitanja političke reforme najpoznatijih savremenih muslimanskih reformatora: Džemaludina Afganija, Muhammeda Abduhua i Rešida Ride. Studija ima tendenciju da komparativnom metodom ponudi viziju političke reforme u islamskoj misli kod navedenih reformatora, te njen uticaj i refleksiju na poimanje iste kod savremenih islamskih pokreta koji permanentno pokušavaju reformatorski djelovati u sredinama gdje obitavaju, ali, nažalost većinom neuspješno. Autor je pri izradi ove studije koristio deskriptivno-analitičku metodu prilikom proučavanja i analiziranja navedenih ličnosti i njihovih djela. Studija je u konačnici utvrdila da se Afgani u svom političkom djelovanju fokusirao na političku reformu, Abduhu na lingvističko-vjersku, a Rida na političko-vjersku, te da su se ideje Rešida Ride uveliko reflektovale na danas najveći reformatorski pokret u islamskom svijetu Muslimansko bratstvo.

Gerrit Cornelis Berkouwer was a significant Dutch Reformed theologian. This article will observe Berkouwer’s concept of imago Dei based on systematic-biblical method. In other words, biblical concept will only support the systematic-theological based discussion. It will be demonstrated through this article that, in comparison to previous approaches of explaining the concept of the image, Berkouwer had made a significant contribution. That contribution is found in his emphasis on the functional aspect of being the image. In doing this, on one hand, he followed the path of Reformatory tradition, but on the other hand, he also diverted from the Reformatory tradition on some issues about the concept of the image. Wielki i potrzebny dar reformy i odnowy duszpasterskiej nakreślony przez Sobór Trydencki został gorliwie i owocnie podjęty przez biskupa Stanisława Karnkowskiego i to z wielkim rozmachem na dwóch synodach diecezjalnych, odbytych w 1568 i 1579 r. Osadzone mocno w dekretach soborowych oraz statutach prowincjonalnych uchwały synodów normowały wiele sektorów życia duszpasterskiego ówczesnej diecezji kujawsko-pomorskiej, uaktywniając samych duszpasterzy, jak i angażując religijnie i moralnie wiernych świeckich. Ten wybitny ustawodawca, reformator, wyrosły i uformowany w atmosferze Tridentinum, zwolennik odnowy trydenckiej Kościoła i jego struktur duszpasterskich, zdawał sobie sprawę, że odnowa duszpasterstwa i naprawa życia religijno-moralnego musi znaleźć swój początek w reformie duchowieństwa, zachowaniu karności i dyscypliny kościelnej oraz w życiu i postępowaniu duchownych zgodnym z duchem powołania kapłańskiego.Odnowie duszpasterstwa służyły też podejmowane wysiłki zmierzające do usprawnienia organizacji dekanatów oraz ożywienie działalności dziekanów, m.in. w zakresie kontroli duszpasterstwa, przypominania proboszczom ich powinności w zakresie poznawania parafian, opieki nad chorymi i ubogimi, zarządzenia odnoszące się do obrony wiary katolickiej zagrożonej reformacją, regulacje odnoszące się do nauczania prawd wiary, nauczania katechetycznego, sprawowania i przyjmowania sakramentów, kultu Bożego i spraw liturgicznych. To wszystko miało służyć posoborowej odnowie duszpasterstwa w Kościele włocławskim.Swoje zaprogramowane działania uzdrawiające i reformujące duszpasterstwo w diecezji realizował nie tylko poprzez działalność synodalną, ale wspierał je poprzez wydane przez siebie Napomnienia oraz Admonitiones – agendę liturgiczną, które służyły ujednoliceniu liturgii i były pomocą dla duszpasterzy, nie tylko w diecezji kujawsko-pomorskiej. Analiza jego działalności ustawodawczej i duszpasterskiej upoważnia do stwierdzenia, że budował w diecezji nowe struktury życia religijnego, duszpasterskiego i kościelnego na bazie programu wytyczonego przez Sobór Trydencki. Stąd należał do najwybitniejszych biskupów polskich tamtego okresu. Zasłynął jako oddany reformator Kościoła katolickiego, obrońca wiary, krzewiciel oświaty, reformator obyczajów duchowieństwa i wiernych świeckich, a przede wszystkim jako wybitny i doświadczony prawnik ustawodawstwa synodalnego w Polsce oraz reformator duszpasterstwa.

Walaupun reformasi Luther dalam konteks gereja, namun dampak dari gerakan tersebut nyata dalam dunia pendidikan Kristen, hingga sekarang ini.Reformasi pendidikan yang dilakukan Luther dan para reformator lain dimotivasi oleh situasi yang sedang berlangsung di seluruh wilayah Gereja kala itu, dimana tidak ada sistem sekolah umum karena pendidikan hanya dijalankan oleh gereja, melalui biara-biara dan di lembaga-lembaga yang diawasi dengan ketat dalam otoritas gereja. Pendidikan yang diberikan kepada para pemuda dan para wanita yang terbatas mereka yang memiliki kekayaan dan status sosial yang tinggi dalam masyarakat kala itu. Keadaan tersebut membuat Luther dan para reformator lain berusaha keras untuk membangkitkan keyakinan para orangtua mengenai pentingnya pendidikan anak-anak mereka, yaitu bahwa kebaikan rohani dari anak-anak mereka lebih penting daripada kesenangan lahiriah.Martin Luther menjadi terdepan dalam menyeruhkan perlunya perubahan pada dunia pendidikan. Italian churchmen from the mid-sixteenth to the early eighteenth centuries saw parents as playing a crucial role in forming new generations in the Catholic faith and thus as an indispensable support to the clergy. They stressed the importance of conditioning from the earliest years. They therefore emphasized parental, and more particularly paternal, authority. On the other hand, another major preoccupation was to prevent violation of the wills of young people with regard to religious vocations and marriage. A balance therefore had to be struck between paternal authority and the legitimate desires of young people who had attained the age of discretion. The matter of the all-importance of conditioning raises the question of our writers’ views of infant human nature. They emphasized to varying degrees the tractability of unformed infant nature and the need to curb unruly instincts, but by and large the emphasis was on nurture rather than on vitiated human nature, on formation rather than on repression.

Purpose Westbrook Farm Home for Boys in Queensland, Australia, existed in various forms for over 100 years. As such, it offers a valuable window into Australian approaches to managing and reforming boys through the twentieth century. The purpose of this paper is to examine its approach to reforming teenage boys during a period marked by a mass escape in 1961. It argues that the reformatory education initially intended was no longer tenable during this moment in history, and that this period represents a breakdown of that approach. Design/methodology/approach This paper draws on material including newspaper reports, memoirs, and the report of an inquiry into an escape by inmates in 1961. These are analysed in order to construct a picture of the type of reformatory education during this period and the public and official responses to this. Findings Westbrook Farm Home for Boys was, during this period, an institution attempting to provide a reformatory education at a historical moment when such an education was no longer viewed as appropriate means of addressing the criminal behaviour of youths. This, combined with the leadership of a domineering figure in Superintendent Roy Golledge, led to a culture of abuse, rather than education. The uncovering of this culture was a pivotal moment in the transition of Westbrook into an institution explicitly dealing with criminal youths. Originality/value No academic work relating to this moment in Westbrook’s history has been previously published.

This paper discusses selected issues of juvenile delinquency proceedings. It points the reader’s attention to the difference in the approach towards a juvenile offender. This different approach consists in shaping the way the state reacts to them breaking a legal norm and directing it towards resocializing education. It underlines the specific characteristics of the interactions’ subject – a juvenile whose identity and social attitudes are in the making. These features justify the fact that educational and reformatory measures based on the law on juvenile delinquency proceedings are applied in their case, rather than the punitive ones defined in the Penal Code. The paper analyses selected topics related to executing specific (educational or reformatory) measures that spark controversy among the entities that take up educational, activating and aid-related actions.
