Abstract:
Abstract The paper presents a codicological description and the edition of a new fragmentary witness (called ASDCr) of Aldobrandino da Siena’s Régime du corps. This parchment fragment, a bifolio found in the Diocesan Historical Archive of Cremona, is the seventy-eighth known Régime’s witness. In the paper a hypothesis is made about the manuscript to which the fragment belonged: it is likely that it came from the book production and circulation environment gravitating around the Visconti-Sforza library in Pavia. Finally, some reflections are developed on the Régime du corps manuscript tradition

Abstract:
Abstract: The Régime du corps is a work attributed to the physician Aldobrandino of Siena from about 1256, purportedly in response to a request from Beatrice of Savoy, the Countess of Provence. Written in French rather than the usual Latin, this was an extremely popular collection of medical advice gleaned from classical medical treatises and destined for lay people rather than only medical professionals. Aldobrandino’s work is but one example of a trend of regimen texts that begins in the thirteenth century and includes such titles as Liber de conservanda sanitate, Regimen sanitatis salernita

Abstract:
The Library of Ajuda, Lisbon, Portugal possesses a lavishly illuminated fifteenth-century copy of the popular late medieval dietetics book, Le Regime du corps by Aldobrandino of Siena. Decorated with a full-page frontispiece and one hundred and fifty historiated initials, Codex 52-XIII-26 was one of the latest illuminated manuscripts of this work to be made. This dissertation explores its artists, its production in Bruges in the workshop associated with Philippe de Mazerolles, the Master of the Harley Froissart, as well as its possible connection to the 1479 manuscript commissions of Edw
