Abstract:
Abstract The paper analyses the official use of international currencies as reserve currency (store of value) and anchor currency (unit of account). Examining the role as a reserve currency we note that the US dollar is the main reserve currency even if it recorded a decline given the decrease of the value of the US dollar reserve holdings and the gradual diversification of the currencies used. Since 2010, the euro's share decreased continuously may be due to the Eurozone crisis and the euro's depreciation against the US dollar. Then we show that the US dollar dominates as an anchor currency,

In recent years the discussion of the role played by reserve currencies in the world economy has reached a new level. Problems caused by the domination of the single reserve currency have not yet been resolved and it remains unclear when and how they will be solved in the future. At the same time quite often the discussion doesn’t include theoretical foundations of different alternatives. In this article we try to develop a strict foundation of the regional reserve currency concept, present theoretical arguments for the factors of reserve currencies’ formation and estimate the potential of the

This chapter starts by analysing three major problems of the current international monetary system: the asymmetric-adjustment problem, dependence on the monetary policy of the main reserve-issuing country, and the large demand for self-insurance by developing countries. It then explores two basic alternatives to reform the system: one route would involve a fully-fledged multi-currency reserve system; the alternative route would be to design an architecture based on the IMF’s Special Drawing Rights (SDRs), the world’s only truly global reserve asset. Abstract This paper presents a historic overview of the resource and technology for exploration and the production of hydrocarbons that has literally propelled California to be the "Golden State", as well as created modern civilization as we know it today; it is difficult to imagine its elimination by fiat. Also, the paper specifically looks forward into the next challenges for the professionals charged with implementing new applied science to the current policy shift of a steady transition from carbon to the hydrogen economy while "making energy happen" for the consumer. The work is devoted to the analysis of the main problems of archaeological and paleoclimatological research of the Chany Lake system. The authors explicate the beginning of the scientific research of the region in the 19th - early 20th centuries (V.M. Florinsky, A.N. Molotilov, V.P. Levashova), summarize the results of modern research (O.G. Nevidimova, V.I. Molodin, V.I. Sobolev, Ya.V. Kuzmin, O.V. Sofeykov, S.V Kolontsov, V.A. Since forests contain more than 70% of the Earth’s total phytomass, any significant changes in its reserves can affect the global carbon cycle, CO2 content in the atmosphere and climate. Currently, the likelihood of environmental crises and the danger of a further increase in CO2 content in the atmosphere has increased significantly. Forests plantations along the Irtysh-Karaganda Channel of Pavlodar and Karaganda regions have great socio-economic and cultural-ecological significance. Abstract Unconventional reservoirs hold vast amounts of untapped hydrocarbon resources; however, given current production capabilities and our understanding of unconventional reservoir production mechanisms only 5% to 10% of these hydrocarbons are typically recovered. The ability to recover additional hydrocarbons from unconventional reservoirs is dependent on an improved understanding of the production mechanisms which are a function of the complex lithology and reservoir fluid systems, and the interactions between these systems. This paper examines the countercyclical policy options available to Latin American countries in the face of the current global economic crisis, concluding that most of the major countries in the region appear to possess the fiscal space (as measured by credible fiscal sustainability and debt headroom) to run prudent countercyclical fiscal deficits. Those countries should undertake a constrained fiscal expansion focused on productive public spending and financed by rainy day fundslarge stocks of foreign exchange reserves that they have accumulated during recent yearsrather than by market borrow

The recognition and rights afforded to people in common-law relationships depend primarily upon the provincial or territorial jurisdiction. An array of scenarios such as health care decisions, property division upon separation, spousal support claims, inheritance rights, and special considerations for couples living on reserve contribute to the intricate tapestry of legal rights in these relationships. In 2024, the macroeconomic adjustment process continued, characterized by a sustained reduction in inflation that began in 2023 and a decline in the current account deficit of the balance of payments. This adjustment took place in the context of a contractionary monetary policy, with a gradual reduction in the monetary policy interest rate. GDP grew by 1.7%, driven by investment and consumption, while employment increased by 2.2%. Foreign reserves remained at adequate levels, and Banco de la República recorded a profit of COP 10,041 billion, benefiting from the returns on foreign reserves. Mac

The Taliban’s edict prohibiting poppy cultivation and the use and trade of all types of narcotics across Afghanistan has had a profound impact on the country’s rural population, particularly in regions that saw the highest volumes of poppy cultivation. The disruption to farmers’ livelihoods comes amidst a collapsing national economy that promises few viable long-term alternatives. Poppy has long been Afghanistan’s most valuable cash crop, and saw a significant expansion during the two decades of the Republic that followed the Taliban’s late 2001 ouster. At the same time, total and core inflation rates have fallen and remain at low levels, suggesting that a significant element of the reactivation of Colombia’s economy has been related to recovery in potential GDP. This would support the technical staff’s diagnosis of weak aggregate demand and ample excess capacity.
