Abstract:
This article discusses the need for the extension of the notion of security by drawing attention to the complexity of ‘human security’ and its daily realities across Africa. It provides an overview of the numerous struggles of the African (and external) organisations in building up an architecture, which may be capable of protecting the many interests of the populations of the continent. Several cases are presented about failures of concerted efforts, together with a growing number of success stories in terms of peacekeeping, creating and maintaining stability, which surely is key to lasting development outcomes for local livelihoods in the continent. It attempts to open up a critical eye on what can be expected for the long run from the African Union and the RECs.

Abstract:
Master's thesis focuses on a role of regional councillors in process of regional development at the case of Karlovy Vary region. The aim of the thesis is to determine how the process of regional development is influenced by the stability of regional elites in terms of their territorial distribution in the region and their time stability in the subsequent regional elections. The thesis is based on theoretical background related to regional development with emphasis of soft factors of development in context of institutional approaches. The important part of the thesis represents analysis of inner differentiation of the model area and explanation of its causes. The original research consists of two parts. The outcome of the first part is an extensive database of candidates elected into regional assemblies of the Czech Republic in periods of 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2012; and analysis of changes in membership structure of those regional assemblies. In the second part regional identity, attitudes and motivation of current regional councillors of Karlovy Vary region and their influence on the development of the region were examined by a questionnaire. Abstract:
The Master's thesis deals with China's increased engagement in Sub-Saharan Africa after 2000 and its impact on U.S. political and economic interests on the continent. In the first decade of the new millennium, China's search for natural resources, especially oil, to satisfy its growing demand, need to find new markets for exports, as well as China's aspiration to enhance its position at the international stage led Beijing to pay greater attention to Africa. China started to engage African countries through a combination of development assistance with no strings attached, except for the one-China principle, and high-profile diplomacy. The United States has become concerned that China might jeopardize its programs on democratization and governance and become a fierce economic competitor in Africa. In the first two chapters, the thesis describes the interests of China and the U.S, respectively, the main actors involved in the countries' respective Africa policies, and strategies and concrete policies these two world powers implement in Africa. The third chapter compares the U.S. and China's engagement in three case studies - on Nigeria, Angola and Sudan. The fourth chapter provides a comparison of the general features of the American and the Chinese policies towards Sub- Saharan Africa. The chapter...

Abstract:
Master's thesis focuses on stability of local elites and their influence on the development of municipalities in Czech Republic. The stability of local elites is for the purposes of this thesis defined as the number of election of the same representatives in communal elections in between 1994 and 2010. There are three main objectives in the thesis. Firstly, to prove a dependence between stability of local elites and population of the municipality. Secondly, to find if there is statistically significant dependence between stability of local elites and selected development factors. Thirdly to identify spatial patterns of high and low stability of local elites in the Czech Republic. To complete this objectives required to design methodology and calculate stability of local elites for the municipalities of Czech Republic and then to categorize it according to its level of stability (low, medium, high). On behalf of several quantitative analyses the indirect dependence between stability of local elites and the municipality population has been proven as well as the dependence between the selected development factors (intensity of flat construction, unemployment and percentage of undergraduates). Significant clusters with high and low stability of local elites were identified by the method of spatial...

Abstract:
In recent years, several research projects on barriers to inter-municipal cooperation have been implemented in the Czech Republic and abroad. However, the research results reflect the respective local and regional specificities and the results and conclusions are therefore diametrically different depending on the specific conditions in the country. The main goal of the paper is to analyse uneven socio-economic development of the municipalities in the South Bohemian Region on the example of the development of cooperation among the municipalities of the South Bohemian Region in relation to the economic background of the municipalities. When assessing the budget-related aspects of the municipality, it is not possible to prefer and take into account only the revenue side, it is also necessary to emphasize the expenditure side. In our case, we use what is called the self-financing rate (the share of own revenues in the current expenditures of the municipality). There is a hypothesis that municipalities with a higher rate of self-financing tend to get less involved in cooperation of municipalities, i.e. the higher the rate of self-financing, the lower the level of cooperation of municipalities. Economically stronger municipalities have no reason/interest to unite their forces with other entities in order to solve problems of regional development. The theoretical part of the work deals with searching for knowledge related to the issue of regional development and cooperation of municipalities and introduces individual methods, which are then applied as part of the analysis of municipalities. The author researched cooperation of municipalities between 2007 and 2020. However, in spite of the results of the graphical analysis, the above-mentioned hypothesis was not confirmed.

Abstract:
The implementation of the Common Agricultural Policy of the EU in the Czech Republic brought many changes in the functioning and financing of agriculture in the Czech Republic with political, economic, and social impacts and many challenges and threats for Czech farmers. Since the Czech Republic acceded to the EU, the Common Agricultural Policy has been reformed several times. The aim of the article is to evaluate the impact of the Common Agricultural Policy on Czech farmers in 2014–2020. The evaluation is based on a qualitative survey among selected farmers in the Moravian-Silesian and Olomouc regions. The research results show that enterprises positively evaluate financial stability and the overall protection of the agricultural sector. Support for the diversification of agriculture and support for the investment was also highlighted. On the contrary, the administrative burden, great emphasis on cross compliance rules, differences in the payments in EU countries, reducing the competitiveness of Czech agriculture and unfavourable conditions for livestock farmers were assessed negatively.

Abstract:
The employer is obliged to proceed with accordance with a large number of legal norms. The act of law no. 82/2005 Collection of laws on Illegal employment is one of them. The article presented deals with the topic of illegal employment. The goal of the article is to analyse the actual situation concerning the illegal employment considering the individual regions of Slovakia based on data provided by National Labour Inspectorate, Central Office of Labour, Social Affairs and Family and Offices of Labour, Social Affairs and Family. Based on information acquired, it is possible to state, that the most violations of the prohibition of illegal employment were discovered by inspections in the Nitra, Bratislava and Košice Regions. The least number of violations of the prohibition of illegal employment discovered by the competent authorities were in the Trenčín Region. It should be in the interest of the state that the people work based on legal contracts as it is the base of financial and budgetary stability of the state in the field of taxes and levies. Because of that reason, it would be suitable to intensify the inspections in the field concerned. The improvement of the economic environment and decreasing of the tax-levy burden of employers could also help to reduce the attractivity of illegal employment to the employers.
