This dissertation analyses the phenomenon of regionalism around the Baltic and the Black Sea since the end of the Cold War with a comparative approach and by applying an extended neorealist theory that includes geopolitics and historical legacy. Much cross-cultural research has been done on the topic of schizophrenia, but few studies thus far have focused on lifetime prevalence and prognosis together, grouped by world region. Additionally, there has been severe bias in which countries and regions have been studied both historically and currently. Any study that had statistics on lifetime prevalence per 1000 people and/or DALYs, from a specified country or region, was included in this thesis. Results showed that lifetime prevalence of schizophrenia does not differ among WHO regions, but DALYs and thus prognosis do differ. Several major

An airfoil shape optimization problem with conflicting objectives is handled using two different multi-objective approaches. These are an a priori scalarization approach where the conflicting objectives are assigned weights and summed together to form a single objective, and the Pareto-optimal multi-objective approach. The optimization formulations for both approaches contain challenging numerical characteristics which include noise, multi-modality and undefined regions. Gradient-, surrogate- and population-based single objective optimization methods are applied to the `a priori' formulations.

During the apex of the eighteenth and beginning of the nineteenth centuries, the geopolitical paradigm was gradually transitioning from imperialism toward the nation-state order. Where the former framework witnessed a handful of European empires vie for global hegemony and influence, the latter facilitated indigenous sovereignty and self-determination. Religion, naturally, played a central role in opposition to colonialism and the galvanization of indigenous nationalism. Between 1939 and 1944 the underground forces of the Polish Government-in-Exile created an underground army in the Lublin region, which, at its height, numbered 60,000 men. The underground Army was created in order to facilitate the reestablishment of an independent Poland. Research into seed biology and restoration ecology of areas disturbed by mining is crucial to their revegetation. Shark Bay Salt, a solar salt facility in the Shark Bay World Heritage Area in Western Australia has several areas of disturbance as a result of 'soil borrowing'. Soil from these areas termed 'borrow pits' was used to create infrastructure such as the roads and embankments surrounding the evaporation ponds.
