Abstract:
Abstract Across her six feature films since 1994, American director Kelly Reichardt has taken time as a mechanism to reveal and question social, political, and economic structures. This article looks closely at how her films display a range of temporal interventions and resistances to features of capitalist temporalities. While film theorists and critics often locate Reichardt’s films within “slow cinema,” this article expands the range of temporal concepts applied to her films to explore the sociopolitical critique at work through this auteur’s aesthetics. The analysis focuses on time in three of Reichardt’s feature films, starting with commodified and metaphysical time in Old Joy (2006), then addressing impatience, entropy, and environmentalism’s temporalities in Night Moves (2013), and ending with an exploration of disconnection-and denial of coevalness-in Certain Women (2016). This article applies close scene analysis-along with a range of philosophical, political, and sociological concepts of time-to demonstrate how Reichardt elucidates and resists the temporal tensions underpinning social relations within capitalist culture.

Abstract:
This article examines representations of the road in the work of independent Florida-born film director Kelly Reichardt. Reading Reichardt's so-called Oregon trilogy,Old Joy(2006),Wendy and Lucy(2008), andMeek's Cutoff(2010), alongside radical anti-freeway and anti-automobile movements from the Pacific Northwest, I argue that Reichardt's films offer critical engagements with the subject of the American road, interrogating the freedom and emancipation from social constraint it purportedly offers.

Abstract:
Abstract The aim of this work was to present a morphological description and ecological characteristics of a rare species from the Gomphonema genus, occurring in calcium-rich waters, along with its new occurrence sites. The research was carried out in flowing waters of mountain and sub-mountain streams and rivers in Poland: the Wołosaty, the Wisłoka, the San and their tributaries. The occurrence of many rare and new to Polish flora species from the genus Gomphonema was recorded: G. cuneolus E. Reichardt, G. drutelingense E. Reichardt, G. innocens E. Reichardt,G. lateripunctatum E. Reichardt & Lange-Bertalot, G. lippertii E. Reichardt & Lange-Bertalot and G. calcifugum Lange-Bertalot & E. Reichardt. These species occur mostly in alkaline or close-to-neutral waters with medium or low electrolytic conductivity (78–530 μS cm-1), low nutrient content and medium-to-high calcium ion content (12.4–76.4 mg l-1). Despite the rare occurrence in other parts of the world, the studied Gomphonema species has found favorable conditions in unpolluted and calcium-rich stream beds with flysch strata. The literature data define G. calcifugum as a non-calciphilous species, but this study shows that it can develop in a wide pH range and in calcium-rich waters.

In present paper the theory of the micropolar fluid based on a Cosserat continuum model has been applied for analysis of Couette flow. The obtained results for the velocity field have been compared with known results from experiments done by Reichardt at Max Plank institute for fluids in Gottingen [1,2] and analytical solution of the problem from Gradient theory by Alizadeh [3]. The boundary condition used here was the no slip one and Trostel’s slip boundary condition [4]. A good agreement between experimental results and the results of the problem for Reynolds near 18000 has beeen found. A new dimensionless number introduced that indicates the theoretical relation between cosserat theory and slip theory and their interaction.

Abstract:
Abstract In the present study, a supercavitating elliptical body was investigated, using the commercial CFD Solver Star-CCM+. For the study the Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes Equation was solved using the realizable k-ε turbulence model. The cavitation model that was used is the Schnerr-Sauer model. The shape of the elliptical bodies was designed according to the empirical formula of Reichardt for cavitation bubbles, which is almost an ellipse where the ratio of the semi-axes of the quasiellipse is given as a function of the cavitation number. The present studies include investigations without a cavitator at the tip and with a flat, round and conical cavitator head design at the tip. The different designs were simulated for various Reynolds numbers. For all studies, the drag coefficient was evaluated. For better understanding the drag coefficient is split into two parts, the shear drag coefficient and the pressure drag coefficient. The results are shown in dependency of the dimensionless Reynolds number. In the simulations, the Reynolds number was changed by increasing the velocity and changing the characteristic length.

Full text
Abstract:
An analytic investigation of the thermal exchanges in channels is conducted with the prospect of building a simple method to determine the Nusselt number in steady, laminar or turbulent and monodimensional flow through rectangular and annular spaces with any ratio of constant and uniform heat rate. The study of the laminar case leads to explicit laws for the Nusselt number while the turbulent case is solved using a Reichardt turbulent viscosity model resulting in easy to solve one-dimensional ordinary differential equation system. This differential equation system is solved using a Matlab based boundary value problems solver (bvp4c). A wide range of Reynolds, Prandtl and radius ratio is explored with the prospect of building correlation laws allowing the computing of Nusselt numbers for any radius ratio. Those correlations are in good agreement with the results obtained by W.M. Kays and E.Y. Leung in 1963 [1]. They conduced a similar analysis but with an experimental basis, they explored a greater range of Prandtl but only a few discreet radius ratio. The correlations are also compared with a CFD analysis made on a case extracted from the Re´acteur Jules Horowitz.
