Abstract:
The bio-diesel industrial waste,Pongamia pinnataseed shell was utilized as a potential adsorbent for the toxic textile dye ‘Reactive Red 2’. Preliminary information was gathered by batch mode contact time adsorption studies, which include effect of pH, contact time, dye concentration and temperature. Plausible mechanism of the on going adsorption process and thermodynamic parameters involved were obtained by carrying out kinetic measurements. To identify whether the on going process is particle diffusion or film diffusion, the treatment given by Boyd and Reichenberg was employed.

Abstract:
AbstractThe sorptive potential of some lignocellulosic agro-industrial wastes (sunflower seed shells and corn cob) for Basic Blue 9 cationic dye removal from aqueous solutions was examined using the batch technique. The Freundlich, Langmuir, and Dubinin-Radushkevich isotherm models were used in order to determine the quantitative parameters of sorption. The Langmuir isotherm model indicated a maximum sorption capacity for these materials in the range of 40–50 mg dye per g (25°C), slightly higher for corn cob than for sunflower seed shells. The values of the thermodynamic parameters showed that the retention of cationic dye is a spontaneous and endothermic process. The application of pseudo-first order and pseudo-second order intraparticle diffusion models, and a Boyd — Reichenberg model for kinetic data interpretation suggested that sorption of Basic Blue 9 dye onto the studied materials is a process where both surface sorption and intraparticle diffusion contributed to the rate-limiting step. These lignocellulosic wastes can be used with good efficiency for dye removal from aqueous effluents.

Abstract:
The kinetics of phenol adsorption from aqueous solution on activated carbons (ACs) obtained from coffee husk by potassium Hydroxide (KOH) activation at 650 and 750oC have been studied in the range of 100-250 mg L-1 initial phenol concentrations and at the temperatures range of 10 – 40oC. Kinetic models for phenol adsorption were evaluated using pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order, and Elovich models. The adsorption mechanism was investigated using Reichenberg, Boyd, and Weber and Morris models. The adsorption on coffee husk activated carbon was found to be a fast or speedy process with the adsorption rate, k2qe, in the range of 0.130 to 0.977 min-1. The adsorption process was mainly physical and promoted by chemical sorption and controlled not only by intra-particle diffusion but also by pore diffusion throughout the entire adsorption period.

Abstract:
Abstract The phenol removal through adsorption using industrial waste has been studied. The red mud generated as waste in the aluminum plants was used in this research. The surface characterizations of red mud were assessed. The batch experiment was investigated with pH (2–12), adsorption period (120–600 min), phenol content (40–200 mg/L), adsorbent dose (2–7 g/L), and temperature (30–50 °C). At the optimum operating condition, the percentage of phenol removal was 87.5%. The pseudo-second-order kinetic model (r2 = 0.98625–0.99994) fitted better than the pseudo-first-order kinetic model. The Freundlich isotherm model was best fitted (r2 = 0.99734–0.99955) among Langmuir, Dubinin–Radushkevich (D-R), and Temkin isotherms. The Langmuir monolayer adsorption capacity was 49.30966 mg/g at 30 °C. The adsorption mechanisms were supported by Reichenberg, Fick, Elovich, Furusawa, and Smith and Boyd models (r2 > 0.8). The thermodynamics suggested endothermic, random, and spontaneous adsorption above 50 °C. The scale-up design using the Langmuir isotherm, and the disposal of used adsorbent after incineration, was established in this study. The research concludes that the red mud generated from the aluminum plant can be used to remove the phenol from wastewater.

Abstract:
The text deals with Jesuit missions to the north of Bohemia in the second half of the 17 th century with an emphasis on the missionary activities of the house of the third probation i n Telč. With regard to the process of re-Catholicization in the second half of the 17th century, Frýdlant (Friedland) and Liberec (Reichenberg) represented a specific region, as is evident from Jesuit sources about missions to the local region. Missions from Telč to northern Bohemia, which took place regularly in the second half of the 17th century, played a significant role in the process of re-Catholicization of the area. The Jesuits of Telč often headed to localities near the borders or in mountaino us areas, where non-Catholic religions persisted. It is probable some of the transitions to Catholicism were only of formal nature. Unlike in the past, however, the missionaries focused exclusively on non-repressive ways of converting to the faith to prevent further emigration. Their focus was on helping with the parish administration, confessions, and promoting Catholic customs. Missionary work also included acts of charity and caring for one’s neighbor.

Abstract:
Nickel deposited on carbon has been used as adsorbent to recover Zn (II) from aqueous system. The adsorbent was synthesized by depositing nickel nitrate on carbon under inert conditions and decomposing it to nickel by raising the temperature, washing and vacuum drying. Various techniques including XRD, FTIR, and SEM were employed for its characterization. FTIR showed that the nickel deposition enhanced the carbon functionalization due to presence of OH, C=O and C-O groups.Average crystallite size ofabout 9 nm was determined from XRD. Nickel deposition resulted in further division particles as indicated from the morphological study. Zn (II) was subjected to adsorptionon the synthesized adsorbent. It was observed that the rate of adsorption increased significantly on the nickel deposited carbon than the carbon alone. Morris-Weber, Lagergren and Reichenberg models were applied to find out the type and rate of adsorption employingfirst and second order rate equations. The adsorption data were applied toLangmuir, Freundlich and D-R isotherms and values of isotherm constants were calculated and were higher for Ni/C than carbon alone. The mean free energy of zinc sorption on carbon and Ni/C are 16.67 and 18.26 kJmol-1 which shows chemisorption. Thermodynamic studies were done to find out the effect of temperature on sorption. Positive values of ΔH and negative values of ΔG show endothermic and spontaneous type of sorption.

Abstract:
Sorption of samarium on nano zirconium oxide was carried out as a function of pH, contact time, initial metal ion concentration and temperature. Taguchi’s L-25 orthogonal array was adopted to identify the most influential factors accountable for enhanced sorption of Sm(III). In Taguchi analysis the sorption amounts (Qt) of Sm(III) ions were directed into an precise S/N ratio for a “high is better” response. By examining signal-to-noise ratio (S/N) the quality trail can be determined. The experiment performed under optimum conditions as predicted by Taguchi method resulted in enhanced Sm(III) sorption by zirconium oxide with minimum error. Analysis of variance indicated that the pH of Sm(III) is the most influential factor for high amount of sorption (Qt). Maximum sorption of 21.3 mg/g (Qe) was noticed from the solution of initial metal [samarium] ion concentration 0.5 ppm, temperature of 323 K, pH 6.9 and contact time of 50 min [Taguchi optimized factors]. Sorption followed both Dubinin- Radushkevich and Langmuir isotherms. The free energy of sorption was found to be 18.3 kJ mol-1. Pseudo second-order equation well fitted for the sorption kinetics. Sorption increased with increase in temperature. Sorption was endothermic in nature. Reichenburg equation was used to explain the diffusion process. The value of ΔG° was also evaluated. X-ray diffraction and high resolution transmission electron microscopy data supported that the size of the sorbent as 15.5 nm.
