Abstract:
Abstract Poland’s European policy and its struggles with EU institutions since 2015 may lead to the conviction that the country’s illiberal turn is accompanied by a process of de-Europeanisation which is fostered by the government to undermine the country’s presence in the EU. Drawing on the party-voters linkage concept, this chapter examines whether such assumptions can be confirmed. It covers societal attitudes and manifestos of the main ruling party and main opposition parties in Poland, PO and PiS, in the period from 2004 to 2019. The chapter shows that party manifestos do not show signs of radical de-Europeanisation (like, for example, calls for withdrawal from the EU) but a limited refocusing of EU issues. One exception was PiS’s open rejection to accept the Euro currency in the future. This mixed strategy is explained by differentiated positions among the party’s electorate over EU issues.

Abstract:
Abstract This study contradicts extant research asserting that girls rarely connect menstruation with sexuality. Through interviews with post-menarcheal girls, Bobier demonstrates that they relate sexuality with menses, fluidly transitioning between subjects of menstruation and sex. Girls talk about tampons and Trojans in the same breath, discuss “waiting until you’re ready” to describe tampon usage, express a fear of “down there,” and consider “provocative girls” as their opposites. They associate birth control pills with “prostitutes” and express broad apprehension about sexual activity. These attitudes, coupled with their rejection of the pill and tampons, reveal girls’ sensitivity to the taboo surrounding female sexuality and demonstrate their desire to be “good girls.” At the same time, they are aware that they exist within a set of gender and power relations that limit their ability to define their bodies and their sexuality. This is underscored by concerns about rape and resulting pregnancy as an implication of menarche.

Abstract:
Information and communication technology (ICT) is integrated into almost every daily activity. Yet, few females today are choosing ICT based careers; a large percentage prefer to work in “pink collar” jobs such as childcare, education, and nursing. A recent report (Queensland Government, 2004) states that the average weekly earnings of full-time female workers in ICT, personal services, education, and health careers are $883.30, $513.10, $802, and $854.20 respectively. Furthermore, even though females consistently earn less than males, female ICT workers record the highest average earnings for all female occupations. Not only are females rejecting the financial rewards associated with ICT careers in favor of jobs that are seen to have a high human concern, they are also denying their voice in the creation and development of future technologies and applications. However, why are they shunning ICT study and careers? How does their educational environment and their perceptions of ICT impact ICT study and career choices? This article explores these questions through the 2003 case study of Year 9 and 12 students, teachers and guidance officers at two co-educational schools in Queensland, Australia. Data was collected from 490 participants through questionnaires and six students and four teachers took part in interviews. Two theoretical frameworks, organizational culture and information quality, were used as a lens to view the situation.

Abstract:
The term “lad culture,” referring to dominant attitudes and behaviours in UK University contexts, will be examined with a view to rejecting the term. While the links between excessive alcohol consumption, sexual violence and bullying/intimidation can be understood with relation to gender norms, the term will be troubled. It is argued that the term “lad culture” implies similarity between disparate identities/experiences/behaviours, which ignores the continuum of behaviours and attitudes subsumed under the definition. As a result, extremely harmful behaviours are trivialised both by actors and those facing such behaviours. Qualitative findings from 8 semi-structured interviews with University campaign stakeholders are presented, recommending that support for anti-“lad culture” campaigns should be improved, insinuating that the ambiguous nature of the term “lad culture” has repercussions not only for self-defined “lads” but for those attempting to tackle associated behaviours.

Abstract:
The Postlude examines how musicians, industry personnel, and audiences today reflect on the history of the industry and its future. New technologies and platforms offer exciting new tools for participating in the genre culture and for addressing the issues of (mis)representation and power asymmetries that world music has been grappling with for the last thirty years. New world music 2.0 actors are redefining world music and rejecting the label altogether. However, they also confront the same challenges as their predecessors. While they denounce “old” world music, power asymmetries, self-righteous attitudes, and colonialist associations, they too find themselves negotiating which sounds to record, how to sell them, and what values and identities these musics carry with them. This chapter argues that those working in world music 1.0 and 2.0 should speak with one another—collaborate—in order to productively negotiate these issues in the context of a changing genre culture.

Abstract:
This chapter champions the priority of objectual representations and reference to the world over fine-grained “inner” mental representations. The main argument rests upon demonstrating that our attitude ascriptions practices give priority to de re ascriptions of mental contents over de dicto ascriptions of mental contents. The argument thereby advances a rejection of the Fregean tradition that construes modes of presentations of objects as essential to the characterization of mental contents within attitude ascriptions. A novel argument is advanced invoking the evaluative commitments expressed with embedded referential slurring terms in argument position, showing them to reveal derogatory attitudes of the ascriber, not the ascribee, and then showing by analogy that the same obtains for existential and referential commitments: they do not typically invoke Fregean modes of presentation by which the ascribee cognizes the world. The chapter ends by reexamining substitution puzzles and the nature of de re belief.

Abstract:
Teay expounded the eIQA as key backbone infrastructure for the HEI's quality and accreditation management for stakeholders at all levels in the institution. The eIQA links the PMS-IMS-QMS trilogy as integrated units of the HEIs' performance management. The eIQA implementation illustrates the case study university's QA management from 2016-2019. The poor 2009-2019 national accreditation performance shows the resistance/rejections mindsets/attitudes of the “complicated, costly ever-changing accreditation business case requirements” and not the eIQA platform per say. It demonstrates mainstream literature on eIQA implementation challenges to include the stakeholders' negative “resistance/rejection” mindsets as key obstacles. Better understanding of the “human” psychological-behavioral-beliefs-attitudinal, personified of self-power clique actions, skills/capacities/capabilities, and structural/managerial elements as key deterrents to eIQA implementation as essential research agenda.
