Full textThe present investigation is oriented toward the relationship between organizational climate and job satisfaction in administrative workers in Constructora Río Bravo S.A.C. in 2017. To meet the objective and measure the variables of the research, a Likert survey was used for the present study. The Likert type survey was tested and validated for its application in the Peruvian context. For the construction of this instrument, the four organizational climate dimensions proposed by Brunet (2011) and the dimensions of job satisfaction of Herzberg, cited by Crespo (2009), were oriented. Likewise, the methodology used is correlational, cross-sectional, with a quantitative approach. The sample consisted of all the administrative workers, who answered a survey using the five-point Likert response scale. The correlation between the variables, according to the result obtained, shows that there is a significant relationship. That is, when applying the Pearson coefficient, it showed a correlation of 0.571. This means that there is a moderate positive relationship between the organizational climate and job satisfaction in the Rio Bravo construction company.

Full textThis is a cuantitive and correlational investigation that aims to determine the influence of the organizational culture in the motivation of the peruvian hotel chain, Casa Andina. We consider this investigation relevant for the hotel sector, due to the importance of the motivation as a factor of influence in the quality of the service provided to the national and international turists, as a competitive advantage facing the strong competition in the sector. The total of the population sample was 122 workers, which belong to the 4 units of Miraflores in the city of Lima, from whom it was collected and obtained the information through a survey composed by 35 questions. In conclusion, the investigation confirmed that organizational culture is in fact an influence factor to the motivation, based on certain components like the tendency to cooperation, relationships and sense of esteem, that affect positively or negatively in the motivation.

Full textIn Italy the expression “Rom camps” is used to refer both to informal settlements like slums and shantytowns and to urban areas formally built by local administrations, specifically inhabited by groups ethnically defined as Roma and situated in peripheral and low-value areas. The official institution of these settlements caused the growing marginalization of its dwellers and a series of urban conflicts. Once national authorities recognized the substantial failure of segregation policies, a new political phase – focused on “overcome” the camps issue – has been declared. This work analyses the meanings, representations and strategies connected with the resettlement of an extended family in the city of Turin and the meanings, representations and strategies of the actors of the urban governance aimed at “overcoming” the Roma issue: from projects of urban renewal to rehousing projects and evictions.

Full textEn el presente estudio se planteó por objetivo determinar el tipo de relaciones humanas que prevalece en las micro y pequeñas empresas (mypes) del distrito de Paucarpata en la ciudad de Arequipa. Para ello se utilizó un cuestionario de relaciones humanas que cuenta con validez y confiabilidad (α = 0,648) y que discrimina entre relaciones humanas inseguras, colaborativas, egoístas y hostiles. Los resultados indican que las relaciones humanas predominantes son de tipo hostil, lo que nos lleva a suponer que las condiciones de trabajo en las mypes no es el más favorable para los trabajadores y podría tener injerencia negativa en su desempeño y su bienestar.

This thesis aims at analyzing the process of constitution of the technical and scientific environment in Goiás. At first, it is important to emphasize the way in which the term is employed. Although there are similarities with what Milton Santos has elaborated, this study also presents itself distant from such elaboration. Through this research, one can state that the technical and scientific environment is actually the instauration of a geographical environment (technical) which is adequate to capitalist productions. In order to demonstrate so, it was necessary to bring about other concepts, such as capital accumulation, which allows us to fully understand, within the history of Capitalism, the different phases of the institution of the technical and scientific environment. In this process of periodization to outline the capitalist society, as a whole, and its process of territorialization in Goiás, it was necessary to show the agrobusiness concept, owing to the fact that this was one of the segments through which a scientific and technical environment was set in Goiás. After demonstrating how such geographical environment has been consolidated in Goiás, a debate took place in order to show how it brings certain class conflicts about. To understand such class conflicts, which define the technical and scientific environment, the research focuses on the city of Quirinópolis, in a moment when one could analyze how Quirinópolis’s workers deal with their own work relations, based on the sucrenergetic sector. In order to conclude the thesis, one states that the historic tendency of capital accumulation, as it was elaborated by Karl Marx, is also confirmed in the analyses of the technical and scientific environment, that is, in the territory of the capital.
Este trabalho analisa o processo de constituição do meio técnico-científico em Goiás. Em primeiro lugar, há que ressaltar a maneira como o termo é empregado. Embora tenha similaridades com a elaboração de Milton Santos, guarda também algumas diferenças. Esta pesquisa constata que o meio técnico-científico é a instauração de um meio geográfico (técnico) adequado às relações de produção capitalistas. Para que fosse realizada tal demonstração, foi necessário trazer para a cena outros conceitos, tal como o de regime de acumulação de capital, que permite entender, dentro da historicidade do capitalismo, as diferentes fases de instituição do meio técnico-científico. Neste processo de periodização, tanto da sociedade capitalista como um todo, quanto de seu processo de territorialização em Goiás, foi necessário colocar em tela o conceito de complexo agroindustrial, pois este é um dos principais vetores através do qual se estendeu por Goiás um meio técnico-científico. Após demonstrado como tal meio geográfico se consolidou no Estado de Goiás, é realizado o debate de como ele implanta no território determinados conflitos de classe. Para compreender os conflitos de classe característicos do meio técnico-científico, a pesquisa enfoca o município de Quirinópolis, momento no qual são analisadas as representações que os trabalhadores do município, ligados ao setor sucroenergético, tem de suas relações de trabalho. Por fim, conclui com as considerações finais, na qual apresenta a tese de que a tendência histórica da acumulação capitalista, tal como elaborada por Karl Marx, se confirma também na análise do meio técnico-científico, ou seja, no território do capital.

Full textThe causal relationship between work satisfaction and performance is well-accepted. Nevertheless, empirical evidence shows that the correlation between these two factors is low. In light of this, life satisfaction has emerged as a more highly correlated variable with performance, and could potentially represent a better predictor of performance. However, this factor is highly susceptible to cultural differences. Given that the subjective model of life satisfaction takes cultural factors into consideration, the purpose of this study is to establish the correlation between indicators of performance and subjective measures of life satisfaction. We found significant positive correlations between two subjective measures of satisfaction: feeling good and the need of status, and two objective measures of performance: management of controlled expenses and management of variable expenses, respectively. The study provides evidence for a high positive correlation between life satisfaction and objective measures of performance and emphasizes the advantage of using measures of satisfaction that take cultural variables into account.

Full textThe Job satisfaction is one of the most important components in the companies’ environment, due to its impact in the growth and development of the organization. Likewise, one of the most influential and poorly researched variable of this satisfaction is the Coworker satisfaction. Thus, the purpose of this study was to examine the factorial structure of the ideal coworker based on the related perceptions of a Peruvian workforce to further investigate the elements of coworker satisfaction within the human resources field. Participants for this study were 60 who were interviewed during a qualitative phase, and 151 participants interviewed during a quantitative phase, between the age range of 22 to 36 years of age. After an exploratory factor analysis, results indicated the presence of four factors: “good personal relationships”, “assertive, organized and self-confident”, “team player, empathetic and flexible” and “productive and good teacher”. There were no statistical significant differences found between factors and demographic characteristics (gender, age, socio-economic status, education, years of work experience, time working in the current company). Furthermore, previous evidence suggests that these factors are related to different aspects of the human resources management, such as: productivity, retention of talented leaders, employee engagement, absenteeism, turnover intention and employee performance. These results contribute to the improvement of the work satisfaction and productivity in a Peruvian work setting.

Full textEl artículo caracteriza las diversas formas de flexibilización de las relaciones laborales en el Perú y analiza su repercusión en los diferentes tipos de informalidad para evaluar las implicancias de este proceso en las relaciones laborales en el Perú. Se examinan estos efectos tomando en consideraciónla información disponible a nivel nacional, en el Perú urbano y en Lima Metropolitana, para tener una perspectiva histórica del proceso. Se concluye en primer lugar que la informalidad, que continúa siendo el principal argumento para llevar a cabo el proceso de flexibilización, no se redujo ni siquiera si se toma en consideración la medición del empleo informal o del sector informal de la economía peruana. Se encuentran, en cambio, múltiples repercusiones sobre la pérdida de poder adquisitivo de los trabajadores en general, lo cual afectó de lleno la distribución funcional de la renta.Por otra parte, se nota que el proceso de descenso de la acción sindical se ha detenido en los últimos años y que su eficacia en términos de lograr diferenciales salariales se ha incrementado. Los recientes esfuerzos vinculados a la construcción de una agenda sobre el trabajo decente y la medición deldesempeño de las políticas de relaciones laborales en este sentido deben reflejarse en la necesidad de pronta presentación en el Congreso y aprobación de la Ley General de Trabajo. Finalmente, se alerta que las dificultades para mejorar las condiciones laborales pueden comprometer la visión que la población tiene de la democracia y generar inestabilidad política.

Full textIntroduction Our purpose with this research is to investigate what we may define as ‘labour cultures’. This means that our hypothesis presupposes the existence of different cultures in the field of labour relations, within the same sector of activity and in the frame of a particular social formation. We approach to these ideas from both theoretical and empirical perspectives. From the Life-Modes Analysis (Hansen, 2001; Højrup, 2003, 2014; Schriewer, 2014) we consider that a social formation consists of a system of different life-modes, each of them operating on the basis of their particular ideological universe, and rooted in different modes of production. Due to this idea, we might find deep cultural differences among the various ways of “developing an activity” –self-employed, wage-earner, small family business producer, investor. This implies the existence of what we call a cultural heterogeneity (Schriewer, 2005), which calls for an anthropological perspective. The empirical world where we develop our hypotheses is the the fishery sector. This is a field composed of a varied structure of small and medium businesses, related to different fishing techniques. This is also a sector that is going through significant changes, mainly resulting from the framework of the European Union, which are affecting the way fishers develop their activity, and probable boosting them to think of new strategies. We analyze the different life-modes that we may find in the coast of the Region de Murcia (South-East of Spain). We propose the existance of different categories or types of fishermen who, concerning their particular ideology, might "practise" a way of being a fisherman. Furthermore, each one, depending on their particular understanding of their business and depending on how they might be affected by those political structures, will develop a different strategy, sustained as we say on a particular ideology, and building their own conceptual and material reality. We interviewed and carried out some days of participant observation with different fishermen from the four harbours in the Region of Murcia. From the totality of interviews and information from our field work, we then analysed the discourses of 21 informers that we consider relevant –and not repetitive– for our conclusions. In sum, the main objective of this research is to observe, describe and analyze the possible existence of “labour cultures” within professional fishermen in the Region de Murcia. Our theoretical proposal interrelates modes of production and labour activity, and we propose the existence of different life-modes related to –mainly– three categories that we may find: small business owners, self-employed and wage-earners. Self-employed fishermen These small-scale fishermen are related to simple commodity production which means that they own both, means and relations of production. As the owner, the self-employed fisherman is involved in – and the unique responsible of– the totality of tasks related to his activity: fishing, maintenance and repair of the vessel and its elements, selling the product. From this perspective we met many self-employed who highlighted the importance of being their own boss, which means that they plan the activity with no distinction between “free time” and “activity time”. Small-business owners: trawlers and purse seiners For this particular life-mode, we find some difficulties when trying to analyze the cases from our ethnographic field-work. In this sense, we can say that we may find two different types in the context of our research. The first one would be the case of those owners of trawlers and purse seiners, who don´t show significant differences to the picture we just describe concerning self-employed fishermen. Their activity implies the necessity of hiring workers and dealing with a more complex tasks organization. But if we consider the aspects of family, mode of production and the ‘work time/free time’ dichotomy, we find that their logic and strategies agree. Wage-earners In this life-mode, we analyse the fieldwork concerning those fishermen hired in the vessels from the previous category. Ther main characteristic is that they sell their time in a routinary job and its value is defined in a negotiation. In the case of wageearners, work and free time appear as opposite concepts. Free time is related to those activities enjoyed away from the fishing activity.
