There is sufficient evidence showing that greater sleep quality improves weight loss outcomes achieved through dietary modifications; however, the effects of dietary modifications such as caloric restriction on sleep outcomes is less established. Abstract:
The human brain consumes a disproportionate amount of the body’s overall metabolic resources, and evidence suggests that brain and body may compete for substrate during development. Using perfusion MRI from a large cross-sectional cohort, we examined developmental changes of MRI-derived estimates of brain metabolism, in relation to weight change. Nonlinear models demonstrated that, in childhood, changes in body weight were inversely related to developmental age-related changes in brain metabolism. This inverse relationship persisted through early adolescence, after which body and brain metabol

Cross-document relation extraction (CodRE) aims to predict the semantic relationships between target entities located in different documents, a critical capability for comprehensive knowledge graph construction and multi-source intelligence analysis. Existing approaches primarily rely on bridge entities to capture interdependencies between target entities across documents. However, these models face two potential limitations: they employ entity-centered context filters that overlook relation-specific information, and they fail to account for varying semantic distances between document paths. Abstract The Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) has made normative decisions as to the probative value of different categories of evidence and the manner in which the evidentiary record should be assessed. Defying expectations that the ECCC’s inquisitorial model would render it quite unique in relation to matters of evidence and proof, this article argues that many of the key epistemological debates witnessed before other international criminal tribunals have also seeped into the practice of the ECCC. Indeed, an analysis of its practice shows that there are several commona

Although the C-statistic is widely used for evaluating the performance of diagnostic tests, its limitations for evaluating the predictive performance of biomarker panels have been widely discussed. The increment in C obtained by adding a new biomarker to a predictive model has no direct interpretation, and the relevance of the C-statistic to risk stratification is not obvious. This paper proposes that the C-statistic should be replaced by the expected information for discriminating between cases and non-cases (expected weight of evidence, denoted as Λ), and that the strength of evidence favour

In both clinical trials and observational studies the intake of whole-grain foods was inversely associated with plasma biomarkers of obesity, including insulin, C-peptide and leptin concentrations.
