Full textThe aim of this thesis is to study the helping relationships between social workers and poor people with attributions' and social representations' theories. In a first part, we set out these two theories, how they could be articulated and their relevance to study helping relationships. Also, we show that attributions are to be understood as part of a social representation. In a second part, with 95 interviews of social workers, we study the dimensionality of the causal structure social workers use to think about their clients. An experiment reveals how social categorisation is part of the diagnostic process. In a third part, a content analysis of the interviews reveals the representation and the different stages of the helping process. We also conduct interview with 26 clients. Their analysis explain the divergent @erceptions and the conflict between social workers and thier clients

Full textAlthough this field of research remains poorly investigated in social psychology, some data indicates that odors modify our judgments, our perceptions, our behaviors, and more particularly our spontaneous helping behaviors (Baron, 1997). In a first series of experiments, we replicated a study aimed at evaluating the effect of a perfumed experimenter (vanilla versus camphor, both pre-tested as pleasant odors) on helping behaviors. In a second series of studies, we experimentally investigated the hypothesis according to which mood is a mediator variable of odors influence on helping behavior, in the foot-in-the-door paradigm without pressure compliance (Freedman & Fraser, 1966) with implicit demand (Uranowitz, 1975). Foot-in-the-door paradigm (cf. meta-analysis) is a well-tested procedure consisting in asking for a small request, and then asking for a larger one. Foot-in-the-door effects are classically interpreted in terms of commitment (Kiesler, 1971) or self-perception (Bem, 1966, 1972). Results obtained in this paradigm give evidence that the foot-in-the-door efficiency is affected by the experimenter’s odor: when the experimenter is perfumed with camphor, classical foot-in-the-door effects are not observed any more. However, the results do not confirm the hypothesis according to which odor influence subject’s mood. Neither the self-perception theory nor the commitment theory can account for these results. Thus, in a third series of experiments, we investigated an alternative interpretation: other people’s odors serve as social informations, which influence helping behaviors, which can cancel, under some requirements, the strong foot-in-the-door effects. An update of a meta-analysis (Burger, 1999), conducted on the data collected over four hundred thousand subjects in a naturalistic setting, lead us to propose an integrative model that would explain the influences of the experimenter’s characteristics on the foot-in-the-door efficiency

Full textIn the medical field, the computerization of health professions and development of the personal medical file (DMP) results in a fast increase in the volume of medical digital information. The need to convert and manipulate all this information in a structured form is a major challenge. This is the starting point for the development of appropriate tools where the methods from the natural language processing (NLP) seem well suited. The work of this thesis are within the field of analysis of medical documents and address the issue of representation of biomedical information (especially the radiology area) and its access. We propose to build a knowledge base dedicated to radiology within a general knowledge base (lexical-semantic network JeuxDeMots). We show the interest of the hypothesis of no separation between different types of knowledge through a document analysis. This hypothesis is that the use of general knowledge, in addition to those specialties, significantly improves the analysis of medical documents. At the level of lexical-semantic network, manual and automated addition of meta information on annotations (frequency information, pertinence, etc.) is particularly useful. This network combines weight and annotations on typed relationships between terms and concepts as well as an inference mechanism which aims to improve quality and network coverage. We describe how from semantic information in the network, it is possible to define an increase in gross index built for each records to improve information retrieval. We present then a method of extracting semantic relationships between terms or concepts. This extraction is performed using lexical patterns to which we added semantic constraints. The results show that the hypothesis of no separation between different types of knowledge to improve the relevance of indexing. The index increase results in an improved return while semantic constraints improve the accuracy of the relationship extraction

Full textIf the litterature states reservations of the family caregivers, to ask for help, their psychic springsremain badly known. Nevertheless the sense of guilt was already located, as an obstacle at the request ofhelp, of the caregiver, but this factor was little explored in a research theme. This research bases on thehypothesis that the sense of guilt of the family caregiver, would represent the main brake, susceptible toprevent his request of help and support, in front of the Alzheimer's disease or the related disease, when thepatient lives at home. A sub-hypothesis aims at placing differently the sense of guilt of the familiy caregiver, according to its spouse's position, or more widely of descendant (child, son-in-law, daughter-in-law) in therelation of help. To test this hypothesis, thirty eight semi-directive conversations were realized andcompleted by the signing of the scales of attachment (RSQ), the caregiver (CRA), and depression (Beck). This research aims at clarifying foudations, and mechanisms of the sense of guilt of the family caregivers, byarticulating it in the problem of loss, which is heart of Alzheimer's disease or the related diseases. It thusgives a new perspective on the psychic work of the family caregiver, which deviates from its only accessunder the angle of the burden and the exhaustion, to envisage it in the light of the work of the pre-mourning,which appears at the keystone of the relation of help. Consequently, the research will follow the cycle of thedependence of the patient, to release in each of its stages, the incidences of the loss in the psychic andintersubjective space at the family caregiver, according to the nature of the links of attachment developpedwith the patient, but also with the family group. From there, we shall try to connect the main register ofelaboration of the loss, in a profile of singular caregiver in the relation of help, to light the links between hisdemonstrations of guilt and his demand of help

Full textThe object of our study is constituted by practices of description and categorization of pain in calls to emergency assistance (15 , Samu 78). The aim of our research is to take in account discursive resources employed by participants (caller, patient, call-taker, doctor) in order to construct an experience : a pain. Therefore, we are interested in socio-cognitive aspects concerning verbalization of a sensorial data and in referential practices emerging in talk-in-interaction. In order to do that, we have studied sequential organization of emergency calls (part II) and categorization practices emerging by the actions of the participants to the interaction (part III). We have used a pluridisciplinary approach : Conversation Analysis, Ethnography and Situated Cognition

Full textCustomer experience management is less explored in marketing (Lars Grønholdt et al., 2015; Lemon and Verhoef, 2017) and many practitioners describe strategic issues, and specifically, the managerial complexity to design of customer journey in cross-channel location. Our goal in our prescriptive and normative research, is aiming to improve, through the creation of a management tool, managers’ marketing capabilities. We restrict our doctoral work to French cross-channel retail. The thesis follows the Design Science Methodology (Romme, 2003) aimed at designing an artifact, which is a management tool that professionals can take to reduce the complexity of customer experience management. Three qualitative empirical studies are conducted: two series of interviews and a case study to test the artifact. The artifact developed in this thesis includes a set of concepts, a method and its effective realization called instantiation, based on the results of the first two interviews. We show that the theoretical choice to consider the customer journey as a co-production of resources and the design of customer journey as a modular structure allows to improve actual marketing capabilities and develop new ones, thus contributing to managerial knowledge but also academic because our research explores, from a theoretical point of view, the resources committed by the customer and the company, as well as marketing capabilities for the manager and their dynamics

Full textThis PHD thesis analyses the personal care aid, especially as developed in non-profit organizations. The aim of the first part is to build the research object. The first chapter recounts the slow development of personal care aid as an activity sector. The second chapter shows the difficult conditions of` care work. The third chapter analyses why the law to develop home care services, changed the whole sector of personal care aid. The second part develops some "conceptual tools" to enlighten the problems shown in the first part. In chapter 4, three types of relationships that exist in this sector are conceptualized-like a triangle: the service relationship, the employment relationship, and the work p relationship. The relationships that appear in this triangle in the context of non-profitmaking organizations are analyzed in chapter 5, considering that they are part of` a system. The goal of the third part is to analyze the stakes and the development of the sector of` non-profitmaking organizations, taking into account the three identified relationships. The chapter 6 shows why the work and employment relationships are inseparable. The chapter 7 analyzes how specific the work and service relationships are in the non-profit organizations in the field of personal aid care. In a moving context, chapter 8 deals with the necessary balance between the different relationships

Full textThis research finds its roots throught questions concerning the impact of psycho-affective disorders in learning. The method used - interviews, case studies conducted on students and quantitative investigation in a school with a network for helping students in difficulty - enabled three approach models for psycho-affective disorders which are integrated in a more general approach with differences between students. A first model centred around educational needs and desires appears, and which considers the psycho-affective disorders as an obstacle in successfully accomplishing an education, leading to a relative integration at school that is essentially cognitive. The second model, centred on personal needs and desires shows, as a solution to these same problems, a condition for being successful in educational learning. Students who lack psychological assistance find themselves thus in the double situation of inequality, with educational needs and desires relative. The third model which proposes an broarder approach in educational needs and desires concerning the relation to people and knowledge, shows psycho-affective disorders as something that marks the limits in the act itself of teaching. There are no findings of educational failure, even if educational success has its ups and downs. This brings into question certain forms of teaching with bending needs and leads to redefining the forms of satisfaction for certain needs relative to the body, imagination and symbolism as basic needs at school, in order to avoid a pathological or an over pathological state with education problems

Full textIn the last decade, our products have been more and more equipped with information and communication technology (ICT), which has modified the nature of their applications greatly. Notably, firms find finally a mean to empower customers to customize their products after purchase. One talks about “Smart Customization”. For such “smart” customization to happen, the idea is to embed directly smart user toolkits for co-design (smart UTCD) into our consumer products. That said, while in the business press, they largely view smart customization as an opportunity to be tapped, in contrast, research is hardly focused on it. Notably, it appears essential to identify factors of customer - based success of such novel customization offers. Thereby, in paper I, I adapt and test a technology acceptance model to smart UTCD. In paper II, I realize a choice based conjoint analysis on smart UTCD. In article III, I expose a theoretical framework for use generation and apply it one the two existing types of smart UTCD. With my findings, I contribute to theory by adding to our limited understanding of the smart UTCD acceptance, providing in-depth knowledge on the customer´s choice process on the smart UTCD´ design features and by opening the black box on the co-design mechanisms that occur between customers - smart UTCD. Additionally, the findings of my three article that compose my dissertation permit firms to be provided with some measures on how to design smart customization offers that fit better the target customers

Full textA methodology together with an instrumental approach, consisting of thermal activity tracing due to changes of the vapour pressure to which the sample is exposed are proposed for solving various pharmaceutieal research, development and production problems. They allow carrying out stability/compatibility testing and studies of the effect ofvapour pressure upon ingredients physical stability, such as amorphous to crystalline changes and amorphous content measurements. Critical vapour pressures of the material are determined. They also allow solid surface characterizations such as sorption isotherms and surface energies assessments that take into account the surface heterogeneity and solubility of the material. Measuring principle and system validation are presented. Numerous examples offTequently encountered prob]ems while manipulating pharmaceutica] ingredients either chemically defined or not, are presented. Procedures reported in the literature, for amorphous content detennination using mierohygrostats containing saturated salt solutions and calorimetrie measurements are questioned and shown to be based upon wrong assumptions. The physicochemical phenomena underlying there limitations are exposed and experimentally shown. Alternative solutions using the approach described above are proposed and experimentally tested. This approach together with classical methods (HPLC, MNR, XRD. . . ) allows studying the stability of sodium cromoglycate in solution and as solid. Its various hydration steps and pseudopo]ymorphic changes are identified. More than a precious analytical tool, the instrument can be used to scale down and monitor processes for production conditions optimization

Full textWhat is an accompaniment device and how can the social activity bearing the same name be defined? The present research aims at questioning the terms and conditions under which the relation of assistance is designed. It is a context – that of the devices – which while depriving it of its usual propping of the relation of assistance, promotes it as a relevant level to the resolving of problems. The central assumption in our work focuses on how some institutional situations have been set up by those devices as a relational workspace. The actors inside that workspace use every prerogative at their disposal to shape the meaning and the validity of the relationship they are involved in. In so doing, they are driven to consider and resolve a given number of obstacles. Assistance can therefore be defined as a process, a co production by the professional and the user, which successive stages are not institutionally stipulated. The present field investigations determine what the various configurations of the relation are in a first set of devices (MLJ, MECS, DECLIC); our analysis will then try to go deeper in the study of two of the so called accompaniment devices: TRACE for what concerns the monitoring of the process of professional integration for young people between 16 and 25; and SASEP: an assistance device for those parents who have been spotted as facing some difficulties in the education of their children. To conclude, a worthwhile interest of our empirical survey is to reveal a typical form of association existing between professionals and users. Which association needs to be studied along with the notion of pact

Full textThe elaboration of multifunctionnal vectors is a key step for efficient gene transfer. This thesis relates on the study of highly functionalizable DNA particles formulated either with cationic amphiphilic cyclodextrins (caCD) or cationic perfluoroalkylated and dimerisable detergents. CaCD were shown to condense plasmid DNA into particles smaller than 100 nm called CDplexes. Our study also revealed the impact of different structural motifs on stability and gene activity of CDplexes. Nanoparticles formulated from the lead Hex-CD-T-[C2N]2 were shown to promote gene expression on various cell lines with higher efficiency than JetPEI polyplexes and with lower cytotoxicity profiles. A particular experiment, targeting at internalization pathways, showed that gene delivery through Hex-CD-T-[C2-N]2 CDplexes predominantly proceeds via a caveolar pathway. Cdpllexes functionalized either through cavity inclusion capabilities with Folate-anchor conjugate or by covalent grafting of glycosylated clusters on CD were not able to mediate specific transfection. DNA particles formulated with perfluoroalkylated and dimerizable detergents were coated with a cyclic peptide conjugate, cVEGI, targeting at VEGF receptors (KDR). These systems were shown to mediate specific transfection on VEGF surexpressing cell lines in certain conditions

Full textRecent studies show a link between behavioural and physical indications; that is that, if behaviour shows complex and psychological conflict, then so will speech. This is why this study will examine the narratives of six-year-old children with behavioural problems (which will be followed up by RASED) in comparison with the speech of ordinary children. This study will confirm that the narrative is the fundamental process of the working psyche and its content, poor or good, must be connected to the nature of behaviour. Thus the theories of attachment and of object relations were examined. Certain aspects were looked at such as: the capacity to visualise, consistency of narratives, self-perception, representation of others including the representation of significant people (be it reassuring or not), as well as dominant interpersonal concerns. Projective studies, such as ASCT and TAT, were used and the results showed that each group possessed their own psychological function and that the existing links between these intra-psychological processes are inter-dependent. This study shows that an integrative approach to attachment theory and the theory of psychoanalytical connection with objects is both possible and useful. This is mainly to understand children brought up in socially poor surroundings. To sum up, the results of this study highlight how important it is to use narratives in order to pin point how to take charge of primary school children who exhibit behavioural problems

Full textOur work aims at enhancing the quality of home caregiving for vulnerable patients. This objective is assessedvia a multidimensional study evaluating psychological characteristics of home caregiving, and also theconsequences of these acts on mental health and quality of life. Our data show that the structure of home caregiving is mainly of medical significance. A significance thatresponds to expectations of patients and their caregivers, and also the social interactions between both caregivingactors. We hence conclude that the actual structure of home caregiving does not refers to “right answers” andstill widely underused. Furthermore, the expert caregivers are likely to lack structuring of their competencies, asrelated to their know-how and life skills. These professionals show great difficulties expressing 1) the nature oftheir professional experience and 2) the complexity of some of their tasks. Another finding of our work is relatedto a high risk of home accidents which induces an important level of alertness. This outcome fits with a detailedanalysis of caregivers’ needs. Finally, our work highlights some recommendations for a better home caregivingfor vulnerable populations and their families. It seems that taking into account the collective experience of thecaregiving environment would address the deleterious effects of home caregiving, which may enhance thequality and efficiency of such intervention
