at the beginning of the XI-th century, the rich manuscript heritage of Central Asian scientists was widespread in Dagestan (the Republic of the North Caucasus). Among them, for example, were astronomical tables made by the famous Uzbek scientist Mirzo Ulugbek. Six copies of noble prophetic hadiths collected by Imam al-Bukhari were found in the mosque located in the Dagestan village Akusha. Abstract René Antoine Ferchault de Réaumur was one of the most important scientists of the Age of Enlightenment. His relations with Polish scientists are analysed, with particular reference to Franciszek Bieliński (Grand Marshal of the Crown), Konstanty Franciszek Fremel (a Saxon specialist of glass technology in Poland), and Johann Ernst Stieff (a Silesian scientist). Réaumur’s work on mites is discussed in the context of his entomological publications.
