Abstract:
By the combination of POD method and mode superposition method, the eigenvector similarity factor is introduced on the representation of the similarity between the load spacial distribution and the structural mode. Meanwhile, the eigenvalue got from the wind pressure field decomposition indicates the relative ratio of the energy associated with the corresponding load spacial distribution to the total of the wind load energy. It is proved that the eigenvector similarity factor and the eigenvalues are two of most important factors when measuring the relative significance of each modal response.

Among the different muscle types examined, visceral smooth muscles have a very low ratio of SRFΔ5 to SRF. Abstract:
Quantitative (partial) and qualitative (complete) resistance responses to quinone outside inhibitor (QoI) fungicides have been documented for the apple scab pathogen Venturia inaequalis. Resistance monitoring efforts have traditionally focused on the detection of qualitative resistance based on a single point mutation, G143A, within the cytochrome b (cyt b) gene. In order to better understand the role of heteroplasmy of the cyt b gene in the QoI resistance response for isolates and populations of V. inaequalis, an allele-specific quantitative polymerase chain reaction was developed to quantify

Abstract:
The influence of water depth on the vertical wave induced bending moment acting on a hull has been studied. The deep-water second-order nonlinear hydroelastic strip theory, which is based on the relative motion concept, has been generalized to account for a finite water depth. Results for an analytical beam and for a tanker ship are presented and discussed. Short-term load predictions that account for a range of different sea states are given for a tanker ship. As seen from the present study, the effect of intermediate water depth may be a significant factor in calculations of ship springing r

There are genetically based differences in growth and behavior between domestic and wild (W) trout and salmon, although the molecular underpinnings of the physiological alterations have not been identified. To test for genetically based alterations in the GH/IGF-I axis, which is thought to mediate some of the differences in growth and behavior, we measured circulating concentrations of GH, IGF-I, and thyroid hormone (T3), as well as mRNA levels for GH, IGF-I, and GH receptor, from multiple tissues and from fish reared under different environments. The design of human-machine systems requires the consideration of a wealth of factors affecting human performance. One important factor concerns stimulus-response (S-R) compatibility effects. S-R compatibility refers to the finding that people respond faster when the relative spatial locations of stimuli and responses correspond (compatible S-R mappings) than when there is no correspondence (incompatible S-R mappings). For example, a visual stimulus that is presented to the right of a central fixation point is responded to more quickly by pressing a right key rather than a left key. In two exp

ABSTRACT While researchers and practitioners alike estimate firms' exposures to systematic risk factors, the disclosure literature typically assumes that exposures are common knowledge. We develop a model where the firm's exposure to a factor is unknown, and analyze the effects of factor-exposure uncertainty on share price and the effects of disclosure about the exposure. We find that: (1) factor-exposure uncertainty introduces skewness and excess kurtosis in the cash flow distribution relative to the commonly used normal distribution; (2) risk-factor disclosure affects all moments of that dis

For each session, participants exercised for approximately 30 min. Abstract Tissue factor (TF) is the primary initiator of coagulation, and the TF pathway mediates signaling through protease-activated receptors (PARs). In sepsis, TF is up-regulated as part of the proinflammatory response in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)–stimulated monocytes leading to systemic coagulation activation. Here we demonstrate that TF cytoplasmic domain–deleted (TFΔCT) mice show enhanced and prolonged systemic coagulation activation relative to wild-type upon LPS challenge. However, TFΔCT mice resolve inflammation earlier and are protected from lethality independent of changes in coagula
