The paper explores cognitive mechanics of «doing» gender in literary translation and aims at providing a cognitive account of gender as both a function of the translator’s self and the translator’s practical concern, i.e. a meaning-making feature of the literary structure which is to be somehow relayed in the translator’s text. Having initially defined the notions «cognitive dominant» and «perspective», constitutive of the research framework, the author reflects on the instrumental role of gender, integrating biological, cognitive, sociocultural and discourse dimensions of the translator’s act

In so doing, he not only heralded the advent of Western literature in China, but also introduced Chinese writers and readers to many new literary techniques. It addresses the notions lexicalized by the original English terms whistleblower and whistleblowing and the challenges of the transfer of their semantic content into Macedonian. Furthermore, the paper provides a comparative analysis of the Macedonian translational equivalents and the official equivalents of whistleblower and whistleblowing in Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian, Slovenian and Montenegrin, with reference to the original English terms. The paper describes the method of lexical-contextual application and re-application, proposed by the author for an analysis of the vocabulary of biblical texts (sources and translations) and applied to contrasting any original text and its translation or multiple translations. The method consists in the application of microcontexts of keywords of the source text on the translation, the analysis of their equivalents, and the subsequent application, that is, reapplication, of all the microcontexts of the resulting equivalents onto the source text alongside with the study of the coincidences and

Numerous manga (Japanese comics) are translated into various languages every year, but the onomatopoeia that depicted in Mangas frequently controls the strength and nuance of the impression by repeatedly using prompts and long notes often remains untranslated, which prevents many manga fans from having the full reading experience. This study focuses on translating Japanese onomatopoeia into Chinese as a first step. The ultimate goal for this research is to translate onomatopoeia into multiple languages. In previous research, the focus was primarily on translating the onomatopoeia itself, where

Abstract:
The article deals with the problems of translating pseudo-international words in economic texts. Incorrect interpretations of pseudo-international words in written texts and oral translations are investigated. It is noted that errors in the written version appear mainly due to the use of the most common full-text translation services, where the word spelling is a priority. For oral translation, the first variant of incorrect interpretation is more typical, when the word is pronounced similarly to Russian, but is not its analogue. The paper presents the classification of pseudo-international wo

Abstract:
The COP9 signalosome (CSN) is an eight-subunit protein complex that is highly conserved among eukaryotes. Genetic analysis of the signalosome in the plant model species Arabidopsis thaliana has shown that the signalosome is a repressor of light dependent seedling development as mutant Arabidopsis seedlings that lack this complex develop in complete darkness as if exposed to light. These mutant plants die following the seedling stage, even when exposed to light, indicating that the COP9 signalosome also has a central role in the regulation of normal photomorphogenic development. In the context of our current planetary crises, in a world that continues to be shaped by capitalist, colonialist, androcentric and anthropocentric visions, we are faced with the urgency of reconsidering, at the deepest levels, the way we relate with other human and nonhuman beings. This working paper aims to contribute towards that end by looking at human-nonhuman relations through the concept of conviviality, understood as the everyday living together with difference, and how it intersects with inequality. Global environmental change is increasingly at the forefront of national and international concern. As society seeks to understand and address the challenges related to global environmental change, the weather, water, and climate (WWC) enterprise will be an essential partner. This endeavor will influence the application of science, including the “translation” of science for various audiences and situations. Consequently, it will almost certainly require an expansion in the skills, personnel, knowledge, and training of the workforce. However, as the scope of global environmental change is broad

Based on our previous research (Rogers et al 2021) we noticed a difference between how artists think the arts relate to society, and how young people imagine this relationship. Young people wanted to see (and connected most strongly to) art works that more immediately engaged with the pressing social issues of Cambodia, many of which are political – including climate change, the expression of identity and human rights (e.g. LGBTQ identity), corruption and scams, and democracy. However, artists, particularly in the performing arts and music sectors, must walk a tightrope in making works that ad
