This study dealt with the analysis of the reliability function for hybrid systems with asymmetric components, where the operating times of these components follow Rayleigh, Pareto, and Rayleigh Pareto distributions, furthermore, we introduced a method of operation based on hybrid systems in order to increase the reliability of the machines operating times. Different simulation experiments were done to estimate the reliability function of these systems using the ML method, then a comparison was made between those estimators, the simulation results proved that the Rayleigh-Pareto distribution gi

An important open question therefore is how progress towards a chosen solution concept can be achieved. Abstract:
Report describes a set of preliminary reliability targets for low vapor pressure hydrocarbon liquid pipelines. The targets were developed as part of a multi-year program to establish the reliability based design and assessment (RBDA) method as a viable decision-making alternative for onshore transmission pipelines. The targets are used as acceptance criteria in the application of RBDA. A pipeline is considered acceptable if it meets these targets.

Abstract:
As part of an inspection, bridge inspectors assign condition ratings to the main components of a bridge’s structural system and identify any defects that they observe. Condition ratings are necessarily somewhat subjective, as they are influenced by the experience of the inspectors. In the current work, procedures were developed for making inferences on the reliability of reinforced concrete girders with defects at both the cross section and the girder level. The Bayesian network (BN) tools constructed in this work use simple structural m echanics to model the capacity of girders. By using expe

Abstract:
Computational tools based on probabilistic fracture mechanics have been developed to enable reliability-based fitness-for-service assessments of flawed girth welds. The same tools are readily adapted for establishing maximum allowable defect sizes to achieve targeted weld reliability. Sensitivity studies have shown that of the various input parameter uncertainties, measured defect height often has the greatest impact on the probabilities of both fracture and plastic collapse. A reduction in sizing uncertainty should thus dramatically improve predicted reliabilities. The increasing use of mecha

Abstract:
This work compiled and statistically analyzed results from two types of ultrasonic in-line inspection (ILI) tools designed to detect axial cracks. Phase 1 of NDE-4E provided a robust series of statistical results related to liquid coupled ultrasonic crack detect (UTCD) ILI performance. In a follow-on project, additional data collection in Phase 2 provided a similar overview of electromagnetic acoustic transducer (EMAT) tool performance. This complementary work communicates how the tech-nical results from NDE-4E Phases 1 and 2 can be used by pipeline operators as part of an opera-tor's robust i
