Abstract:
The primary aim of the research work is to focus on the effects of climate change for maintaining physical infrastructures (i.e. such as buildings, dams, bridges, road pavements and other road infrastructures). As infrastructure requires major investment, it is important to build necessary management system to cope with future changes. This means that recognition of likely climate change impacts and appropriate adaptation measures are critical. However, most infrastructures has been designed, built and maintained on the premise that the future climate will be similar to that experienced in the

Climatic conditions (precipitation, evapotranspiration, available soil moisture, and temperature) are important variables when considering cumulative storm streamflow for a watershed. The objective of this study was to determine what climatic conditions, if any, could be used to mathematically model cumulative storm streamflow for an extensively-drained small agricultural watershed in northwest Delaware County, Indiana. A water-level recorder was installed in Killbuck Creek during autumn 2002, spring, summer, and autumn 2003 and 2004. To determine discharge, velocity measurements were collecte

Research relating to the potential impacts of climate change on UK housing has increased in recent years. The future performance of dwellings that are currently considered sustainable may change under a changing climate. Decision-making for sustainable house designs may become more challenging regarding dwellings that will perform well now and be resilient to climate change risks, such as overheating, in the future. Background- The recent modernisation of the United Kingdom (UK) National Health Service (NHS) has included a number of sizeable reforms that have emphasised partnership relationships between patients and professionals, and the importance of individuals taking a more active role in their care. Many of these changes have been specifically geared towards patients with chronic health conditions, who are recognised as imposing the largest strain on health services worldwide. This modernisation has occurred in parallel with a huge increase in the number of people within the UK who are turning to the

Abstract:
The aim of this research project is to improve the thermal performance of passive flat plate solar collectors using a novel cost effective enhanced heat transfer technique. The project work focuses on the process of energy conversion from the collector to the working fluid. This is accomplished by employing an aluminium grid placed in the channels of a collector to induce a gradient of heat capacitance. This novel technique is tested both theoretically by means of simplistic designs using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and experimentally using two unglazed collectors. One collector has the
