This thesis examines American perceptions of William Ewart Gladstone in the religious and secular press from 1868 to 1900. The scope of the study encompasses his role as a Christian apologist and his engagement in public affairs where religion and politics converged. The opinions of Americans are examined in the general categories of evangelicals, Roman Catholics, secular news organs and to a lesser extent Unitarians and agnostics. North Korea has been on people’s minds lately. This essay is a study of what image Swedish press gave of North Korea starting in 1948 and ending in 2011. The study looks at two of the largest newspapers in Sweden, Aftonbladet and Dagens Nyheter. History<br>M.A.<br>On November 4, 1956, Soviet forces brutally suppressed the Hungarian Revolution in Budapest. Although Nikita Khrushchev had attempted to "repair" the Soviet Union's image by denouncing Stalin's crimes, the Soviet invasion of Hungary damaged the Soviet Union's legitimacy in the international community. Cette thèse de doctorat est consacrée à la controverse que les deux édits promulgués en 1788 sous Frédéric-Guillaume II et son ministre des cultes J. C. Von Wöllner suscitèrent en Allemagne. Ce gouvernement entendait restaurer la réaction en Prusse et mettre fin à quarante années de politique éclairée. La première partie de ce travail présente le contenu des édits et leur genèse, la deuxième partie analyse plusieurs brochures et la dernière partie commente les comptes rendus dont ces brochures firent l’objet dans diverses revues entre 1788 et 1796. Journalists in the Australian Christian press are constrained by a range of factors from playing an emancipatory, or socially responsible, role similar to that played by their mainstream counterparts. This study examines the social theory ojjournalism and the role of the mainstream journalist, with particular regard to the social responsibility model ofpress.
