Full textThe object of this thesis is to enlight the works of two french architects Renée Gailhoustet (born in 1929) and Jean Renaudie (1925 - 1981), both of them with their own office. Their works concern urban programs grouping community facilities and public housing, with a particular interest for their adjacent realisations in Ivry-sur-Seine's downtown renovation, near Paris. Gailhoustet considers herself as a "follower" and gives to Renaudie a tutelary role, especially after his premature death while aknowledgement for his work is at his highest. The analysis of this conscious and accepted architectural filiation points out the quality and the originality of Gailhoustet's work, too often left in the master's shadow. By focusing specifically upon process of transmission and traduction between those two architects, the present work wishes to contribute to the debate around the notion of architectural model and to enlight the relation between architectural theory and practice

Full textOver the past few years, many works have been done on “French Gaullism” as well as on “partisan gaullists”. Besides the numerous studies on French Général de Gaulle, these works focused mostly on the political party which claimed the political ideas of the man who called to resistance with the “Appeal of 18 June”. What will be primarly explored in this work is the era which followed the Général’s resignation from power on the 27 april 1969, up to the year 1992, which saw, at a national level, the French Maastricht Treaty referendum divide gaullists on the European issue, as well as, at a local level, the election of Antoine Rufenacht as head of region, following another gaullist, Roger Fossé. Our approach here is therefore quite original as it is a territorial study of a political party, and it explores the regional example of Haute-Normandie. As a result, our analysis will combine different scales of observation, from national to municipal, as well as regional, local and district scales. Thus, one of our main goal is to question ourselves on the singularity of the Normandy region, compared to the national standard. A close examination of the regional adherent structures will allow us to illuminate the organisation of a local political party, and to evaluate the possible independence from the national structure. Finally, we will discuss the state of “French Gaullism”, one generation after the retirement of its leader, through the exploration of references to the Général de Gaulle, of the “gaullist” movement itself, as well as of the evolution of its fondamental principles. Furthermore, the emerging of a new french political actor in the mid-1980s, the far-right party “Front National”, forces those who refer as “gaullists” to adapt to this new political polarisation. In order to conduct this study beyond the usual sources, that is to say press articles, rare sources, that have never been used before, will be put under scrutiny. As a result, we will benefit from reports by the « Renseignements Généraux », which are decisive to clearly define what political life means inside a political party, at a local scale. Moreover, privates archives and oral files will allow us to provide a fresh look on the “gaullist” party and its members

Full textResearch about art in Brittany between the beginning and the middle of this century, through the monograph of René Quillivic's work. Born in very simple surroundings, he comes up to Ecole des beaux-arts in Paris by the favour of a local statesman. Since the beginning of his career he gets the war memorial's expert. He knows haw to join academic traditions, realism and regionalism. In 1925, as J. J. Lemordant or the Seiz Breur, but very alone among them, he has share in the Brittany’s art revival, especially in ceramics and wood-engraving. Since 1937, in Paris, his works get less and less estimated among the critics therefore he prefers to turn back about Brittany. After the second war, he appears as the symbol of Breton invention especially for historical, cultural and stylistic opportunities. Indeed, between the first and the second mondial war, when Quillivic's career was at the top, that was just the beginning of a cultural revival in Brittany. His celebrity comes also from his birth in a popular family. His work seems to realise the connexion abetween manual trade and art. But the most important opportunity is his own style: he mingles realism and stylization: faces are generally portraits, volumes and dress are schematized. After the last war, thoughts about an original Breton culture are more and more imperious and René Quillivic appears as the modern Breton sculpture's forefather

Full textThe dissertation presents a first attempt in Russian and French musicology to research the musical output of Pascal Dusapin in a broad context. The chosen perspective of the research - the model of the palimpsest in the music of Pascal Dusapin refers to the authentic nature of his music, as well as to the paradigm of humanitarian knowledge of the epoch contemporary to him, in which the proposed model could be interpreted as multi-dimensional space of art which connects together numerous cultural strata, which are viewed as texts. This type of multi-textuality also presents itself as a peculiar sign of Pascal Dusapin's music, which is permeated with references to a boundless field of science and art, among which the philosophy of Deleuze and Guattari, the literature of Flaubert, Beckett, Stein, Cadiot, the movies of Fellini, Lynch, Pasolini, the works of artists Newman, Lewitt, Tarrell, the fractal theory of Benoit Mandelbrot, the theory of morphogenesis of René Thom, the theory of complexity of Edgar Morin. . . The presentation of the conception of Pascal Dusapin's creative output in the context of the paradigm of the palimpsest is realized in the dissertation by means of solving the following issues: a description of the paradigm of the palimpsest in contemporary music; a systematization of the fundamental "pre-texts" of Pascal Dusapin's creative output; the development of a methodology of analysis of the "multi-layered" aspect of the composer's music; an overview of the basic genres in Dusapin's crative output; the examination of the issue of form, structure and harmony in the example of concrete works from the composer's chamber, orchestral and operatic music

Full textThis study is about René Girard's and Milan Kundera's essays on the art of the novel. According to these two authors the novel is pre-eminently a source of knowledge. At the first, we attempted to grasp the way in which Kundera and Girard perceive the novel's gnoseological function, as being distinguished, opposed or supplementing to the knowledge within social sciences and philosophy. Secondly, we tried to clarify the prospects that such an idea offers to literary criticism. The dead ends of structuralism and the emergence of the cultural studies force criticism to redefine its own function as well as the function of literature itself. By studying the relations that Girard and Kundera maintain with the literary criticism of the second half of the 20th century, we tried to show that their work can contribute actively to the current debates
