Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
Synergistic cues from extracellular matrix and soluble factors are often obscure in differentiation. Here the rigidity of cross-linked collagen synergizes with retinoids in the osteogenesis of human marrow mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). Collagen nanofilms serve as a model matrix that MSCs can easily deform unless the film is enzymatically cross-linked, which promotes the spreading of cells and the stiffening of nuclei as both actomyosin assembly and nucleoskeletal lamin-A increase. Expression of lamin-A is known to be controlled by retinoic acid receptor (RAR) transcription factors, but soft matrix prevents any response to any retinoids. Rigid matrix is needed to induce rapid nuclear accumulation of the RARG isoform and for RARG-specific antagonist to increase or maintain expression of lamin-A as well as for RARG-agonist to repress expression. A progerin allele of lamin-A is regulated in the same manner in iPSC-derived MSCs. Rigid matrices are further required for eventual expression of osteogenic markers, and RARG-antagonist strongly drives lamin-A–dependent osteogenesis on rigid substrates, with pretreated xenografts calcifying in vivo to a similar extent as native bone. Proteomics-detected targets of mechanosensitive lamin-A and retinoids underscore the convergent synergy of insoluble and soluble cues in differentiation.

Abstract:
ABSTRACTThis article examines the life and work of Bernard Häring, C.SS.R., especially his valuable contributions to the Second Vatican Council and his dedication to the council's vision of renewal. It begins with an overview of Häring's preconciliar religious and theological formation in his family, seminary and university, during World War II, and during his teaching in Rome. The next section deals with Häring's work at the council, especially his efforts on the original Theological Commission to resist the rigidity of the first drafts, and his contributions toLumen Gentium(“The Constitution on the Church”),Unitatis Redintegratio(“The Decree on Ecumenism”),Dignitatis Humana(“The Declaration on Religious Freedom”),Gaudium et Spes(“The Constitution on the Church and the Modern World”),and Optatam Totius(“Decree on Priestly Formation”). The final section considers Häring's mission to spread the council's message of renewal to the world, his conflicts with the forces attempting to repress the progressive agenda, and his courageous visioning of what a renewed church might look like in the future.

Abstract:
We evaluate personality traits, anxiety and depression in a population of paediatric and adolescent patients, correlating personality characteristics with headache and sociodemographic variables. The clinical features of headache include specific personality traits. We report a clinical study of 57 patients (age 8–18 years), divided up as follows: 12 migraine with aura, 29 migraine without aura and 16 tension-type headache. One of Cattel's tests was administered to every patient; the Children's Depression Inventory test was administered to 53 patients and the Test Anxiety Inventory test to 43 subjects. The scores obtained by every patient in each test were correlated with the characteristics of headache and with sociodemographic data. We found that patients affected by idiopathic headache share some personality traits, mainly emotional rigidity and tendency to repress anger and aggression. These traits do not seem to be correlated with sociodemographic data and the duration of headache: we considered these as characteristic of migrainous patients.

Abstract:
Let$S$be a Noetherian scheme of finite dimension and denote by$\unicode[STIX]{x1D70C}\in [\unicode[STIX]{x1D7D9},\mathbb{G}_{m}]_{\mathbf{SH}(S)}$the (additive inverse of the) morphism corresponding to$-1\in {\mathcal{O}}^{\times }(S)$. Here$\mathbf{SH}(S)$denotes the motivic stable homotopy category. We show that the category obtained by inverting$\unicode[STIX]{x1D70C}$in$\mathbf{SH}(S)$is canonically equivalent to the (simplicial) local stable homotopy category of the site$S_{\text{r}\acute{\text{e}}\text{t}}$, by which we mean thesmallreal étale site of$S$, comprised of étale schemes over$S$with the real étale topology. One immediate application is that$\mathbf{SH}(\mathbb{R})[\unicode[STIX]{x1D70C}^{-1}]$is equivalent to the classical stable homotopy category. In particular this computes all the stable homotopy sheaves of the$\unicode[STIX]{x1D70C}$-local sphere (over$\mathbb{R}$). As further applications we show that$D_{\mathbb{A}^{1}}(k,\mathbb{Z}[1/2])^{-}\simeq \mathbf{DM}_{W}(k)[1/2]$(improving a result of Ananyevskiy–Levine–Panin), reprove Röndigs’ result that$\text{}\underline{\unicode[STIX]{x1D70B}}_{i}(\unicode[STIX]{x1D7D9}[1/\unicode[STIX]{x1D702},1/2])=0$for$i=1,2$and establish some new rigidity results.

Abstract:
The cracks of different origins in hydraulic structures provide preferential paths for the penetration of various aggressive agents (such as liquid, gas, ions), which leads to decreased performance of these works (leakage, deterioration, loss of mechanical strength). The aim of the thesis is to study the consequences of cracking of hydraulic structures on mechanical and water sealing properties, and to study different possibilities to treat these cracks to improve and regain sufficient sealing. Moreover, recover partially the mechanical cohesion. Therefore, two aspects will be studied. The first aspect is to study the effect of crack opening on the penetration of carbon dioxide in a mortar. The second aspect is to study the capacity of healing of cracks from the point of view of mechanical (stiffness, bearing capacity), this study will be supplemented by chemical analysis and microscopic observations to characterize the nature of new crystals that precipitated in the crack

Abstract:
This work presents some outcomes of a theoretical investigation of incompressible high-order networks defined by a generalized graph represen tation. We study some of their network topological properties and how these may be related to real world complex networks. We show that these networks have very short diameter, high k-connectivity, degrees of the order of half of the network size within a strong-asymptotically dominated standard deviation, and rigidity with respect to automorphisms. In addition, we demonstrate that incompressible dynamic (or dynamic multilayered) networks have transtemporal (or crosslayer) edges and, thus, a snapshot-like representation of dynamic networks is inaccurate for capturing the presence of such edges that compose underlying structures of some real-world networks.
