Different parameters of fertility and litter size are discussed, including the contribution of both sexes to each phase of the reproductive cycle.

Abstract:
Abstract The impact of geometric variation of compressor airfoils due to manufacturing scatter and operational effects on the aerodynamic performance is a well-addressed topic in the research field of turbomachinery. Thereby, the airfoils’ leading edge (LE) shapes are highly relevant to their aerodynamic behavior, potentially causing increased losses and separation. In previous probabilistic computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analyses, the LEs were usually modeled as semi-circles or semi-ellipses, whereas their noticeable deviation from these simplified shapes is given comparatively little att

Clinical reports indicate that mechanical heart valves are still unable to eliminate problems mainly related to a non physiological fluid dynamics like thrombosis and coagulation complications [1]. Advanced experimental technique such as laser doppler anemometry (LDA) and particle image velocimetry (PIV), used to investigate the fluid dynamics of these devices, suffer from some intrinsic limitations (eg. access difficulties, light reflection, low resolution) [2]. In parallel with the increased performance at computing, the use of computational fluid dynamics has gained relevance as a powerful

Abstract Plasma-assisted combustion has become popular in propulsion and combustion due to advanced emissions reduction and energy efficiency improvements. The rate of growth of the ignition kernel, within the development of the initial combustion zone, has a significant impact on combustion stability and efficiency and pollutant emissions. The plasma-assisted ignition methods, such as nanosecond pulse and laser discharge systems, have been used to create high-energy plasmas to ignite fuel-air mixtures. Such systems provide the benefits of a reduction in energy, increased flame stability, enha

Abstract:
Symbiotic bacteria have been shown to influence host reproduction and defense against biotic and abiotic stressors, and this relates to possible development of a symbiont-based control strategy. This project was based on the hypothesis that symbionts have a significant impact on Culicoides fitness and vector competence for animal viruses. The original objectives in our proposal were: 1. Molecular identification and localization of the newly-discovered symbiotic bacteria within C. imicola and C. schultzei in Israel and C. sonorensis in California. 2. Determination of the prevalence of symbiotic
